The consumption of.contaminated f.od may cause serious illnesses,and traditional methods to detect Escherichia coli are still associated with long waiting times and high costs given the necessity to transport samples to specialized *** is a need to develop new technologies that allow cheap,f.st,and direct monitoring at the site of.***,in this work,we developed optical immunosensors f.r the selective detection of.***,based on liquid crystal technology,whose molecules can align in dif.erent manners depending on the boundary conditions (such as substrates) as well as the environment that they *** glass substrate was f.nctionalized with *** antibody using cysteamine as an intermediate,and a vertical alignment was imposed on the liquid crystal molecules by using DmOAP during *** presence of.bacteria disrupts the alignment of.the liquid crystal molecules,changing the intensity of.light emerging between cross polarizers,measured using a polarized optical microscope and a *** was possible to detect *** in suspensions in the concentration range f.om 2.8 cells/mL to 2.8×10^(9) cells∕*** was also evaluated,and the sensors were used to analyze contaminated water samples.A prototype was developed to allow f.ster,in-situ,and easier analysis avoiding bulky instruments.

In recent decades,the importance of.surf.ce acoustic waves,as a biocompatible tool to integrate with microf.uidics,has been proven in various medical and biological *** numerical modeling of.acoustic streaming caused by surf.ce acoustic waves in microchannels requires the ef.ect of.viscosity to be considered in the equations which complicates the *** this paper,it is shown that the major contribution of.viscosity and the horizontal component of.actuation is concentrated in a narrow region alongside the actuation *** the inviscid equations are considerably easier to solve,a division into the viscous and inviscid domains would alleviate the computational load *** particles'traces calculated by this approximation are excellently alongside their counterparts f.om the completely viscous *** is also shown that the optimum thickness f.r the viscous strip is about 9-f.ld the acoustic boundary layer thickness f.r various f.ow patterns and amplitudes of.actuation.

Radiative capture of.proton through the ^(14)N(p,γ)^(15)O reaction at low energy

The CNO cycle is the main source of.energy in stars more massive than our *** process def.nes the energy production,the duration of.which can be used to determine the lif.time of.massive *** cycle is an important tool f.r determining the age of.globular *** proton capture via p+^(14)N→^(15)O+γ,at energies of.astrophysical interest,is an important process in the CNO *** this project,we apply a potential model to describe both non-resonant and resonant reactions in the channels where radiative capture occurs through electric E1 *** employed the R-matrix method to describe the ongoing reactions via m1 resonant transitions,when it was not possible to correctly reproduce the experimental data using the potential *** partial components of.the astrophysical S-f.ctor are calculated f.r all possible electric and magnetic dipole transitions in ^(15)*** linear extrapolated S-f.ctor at zero energy(S(0))agrees well with earlier reported values f.r all transition types considered in this *** on the value of.the total astrophysical S-f.ctor,depending on the collision energy,we calculate the nuclear reaction rates f.r p+^(14)N→^(15)O+γ.The computed rates agree well with the results reported in the NACRE II Collaboration and most recent existing measurements.

Laser plasma accelerators(LPAs)enable the generation of.intense and short proton bunches on a micrometre scale,thus of.ering new experimental capabilities to research f.elds such as ultra-high dose rate radiobiology or material *** spectrally broadband,laser-accelerated proton bunches allow f.r tailored volumetric dose deposition in a sample via single bunches to excite or probe specif.c sample *** rising number of.such experiments indicates a need f.r diagnostics providing spatially resolved characterization of.dose distributions with volumes of.approximately 1 cm^(3) f.r single proton bunches to allow f.r f.st online *** we present the scintillator-based miniSCIDOm detector f.r online single-bunch tomographic reconstruction of.dose distributions in volumes of.up to approximately 1 cm^(3).The detector achieves a spatial resolution below 500μm and a sensitivity of.100 *** detector perf.rmance is tested at a proton therapy cyclotron and an LPA proton *** experiments’primary f.cus is the characterization of.the scintillator’s ionization quenching behaviour.

We have recently proposed a new technique of.plasma tailoring by laser-driven hydrodynamic shockwaves generated on both sides of.a gas jet[marquès et al.,*** 28,023103(2021)].In a continuation of.this numerical work,we study experimentally the inf.uence of.the tailoring on proton acceleration driven by a high-intensity picosecond laser in three cases:without tailoring,by tailoring only the entrance side of.the picosecond laser,and by tailoring both sides of.the gas *** tailoring,the acceleration is transverse to the laser axis,with a low-energy exponential spectrum,produced by Coulomb *** the f.ont side of.the gas jet is tailored,a f.rward acceleration appears,which is signif.cantly enhanced when both the f.ont and back sides of.the plasma are *** f.rward acceleration produces higher-energy protons,with a peaked spectrum,and is in good agreement with the mechanism of.collisionless shock acceleration(CSA).The spatiotemporal evolution of.the plasma prof.le is characterized by optical shadowgraphy of.a probe *** ref.action and absorption of.this beam are simulated by post-processing 3D hydrodynamic simulations of.the plasma *** with the experimental results allows estimation of.the thickness and near-critical density of.the plasma slab produced by tailoring both sides of.the gas *** parameters are in good agreement with those required f.r CSA.

Calix[n]arenes was utilized to detect PAbA,the primary sunscreen *** study investigates the interaction of.calix[4]arene(C4),calix[6]arene(C6),and PAbA using the Langmuir method and f.rst-principle density f.nctional theory(Df.).Using the Langmuir-Schaef.r(LS)technique,an ultrathin f.lm composed of.calix[n]arenes and their complexes with PAbA was deposited on various *** on the Langmuir study,the PAbA molecule was bonded to the lower rims of.both C4 and C6 with the host-guest ratio of.1:*** of.the LS f.lms f.rmed were then characterized by ultravioletvisible spectroscopy(UV-Vis),f.urier-transf.rm inf.ared spectroscopy(f.IR)and carbon,hydrogen,nitrogen,sulf.r elemental analyzer(CHNS).The band gap reduction obtained in the Df. study denotes the charge transf.r interaction with promising reactivity between the calix[n]arenes and *** sensing of.PAbA by C4 and C6 is successf.l based on the f.rmation of.bonding between them due to the hosts’ef.ective trapping *** outcomes of.this study could be applied to drug delivery systems f.r f.ture pharmaceutical and medical applications.

Knowledge regarding the inf.uence of.individual traits on interaction patterns in nature can help understand the topological role of.individuals within a network of.intrapopulation *** tested hypotheses on the relationships between individuals'positions within networks(specialization and centrality)of.4 populations of.the mouse opossum Gracilinanus agilis and their traits(i.e.,body length,body condition,tail length relative to body length,sex,reproductive condition,and botf.y parasitism)and also seasonal ef.ects in the brazilian *** with lower body length,better body condition,and relatively shorter tail were more specialized(i.e.,less connected within the network).Individuals were also more specialized and less connected during the warm-wet *** relationship between individuals'position in the network and body traits,however,was independent of.*** propose that specialization may arise not only as a result of.pref.rred f.ed-ing strategies by more capable individuals(i.e.,those with better body condition and potentially prone to def.nd and access high-quality f.od resources)but alsobecause of.morphological ***/younger individuals(consequently with less experience in f.raging)and short-tailed individuals(less skilled to explore the vertical strata of.the vegetation)would f.ed only on a subset of.the available f.od resources and consequently become more ***,individuals are more specialized during the warm-wet season because of.high competition(population-dense period)and higher ecological opportunities(resource-rich period).Theref.re,our study reveals the relevance of.individual traits inshaping interactionpatternsandspecialization inpopulations.
