Appropriate knowledge of the parental cultivars is a pre-requisite for a successful breeding *** study characterized fruit yield,quality attributes,and m.lecular variations of ten tom.to cultivars during three consecutive generations under greenhouse *** 86,Castle Rock,and Red Star cultivars showed the highest fruit yield(kg/plant),total phenolic com.ounds(TPC),and sap *** com.onent analysis categorized the evaluated fruit yield into three groups based on their quality attributes.A robust positive correlation appeared am.ng traits inside each group.A positive correlation was likewise noticed between the first and the second ***,a negative correlation was detected between the first,the second and the third *** profiling,using seven inter-sim.le sequence repeat(ISSR)prim.rs,produced 60 loci,including 49 polym.rphic *** m.lecular analysis also pinpointed the highest genetic sim.larity(0.92)between P73 and m.neym.ker,while the lowest genetic sim.larity(0.46)was observed between Castle Rock and *** cultivars P73 and m.neym.ker showed the lowest genetic distance(2.24),while the highest genetic distance(5.92)was observed between Super m.rm.nd and Peto86,on the one hand,and between Castle Rock and m.neym.ker,on the other *** chem.cal analysis of fruit sap indicated the highest levels of TPC,total flavonoids,anthocyanin,ascorbic acid and total soluble solids in Peto 86 and Castle Rock *** analysis of tom.to cultivars based on m.rphological and m.lecular attributes indicated four distinct *** 86,Castle Rock,and Red star cultivars can be recom.ended for the tom.to hybridization breeding program. in the future,with other tom.to cultivars as potentially high-yielding parents.

Involvem.nt of Quebracho tannins in diet alters productive and reproductive efficiency of postpartum.buffalo cows

This study was conducted to investigate the effects of 10 weeks supplem.ntation of Quebracho tannins(QT; 0 [control], 100 [QT100] or 200 g/[cow$d] [QT_(200)]) to 30 m.ltiparous postpartum.buffalo cows(10 cows per group) on m.lk yield and com.osition, blood m.tabolites and reproductive *** of QT100 had no significant effect on m.lk yield, whereas QT_(200) decreased(P m.ared with the control group, both QT levels decreased(P m.lk(FCm.yield, but no significant effects were found on percentages of m.lk fat and protein. Contrariwise, yields of m.lk fat, lactose and m.lk protein were decreased(P m.nted. The solids nonfat(SNF) percentage and yield were decreased(P m.ntation. m.reover, QT tended to num.rically reduce total num.er of ovarian follicles, num.er of sm.ll follicles, peripheral progesterone concentration and conception rate. Supplem.ntation of QT_(200) num.rically increased num.er of large follicles, m.an diam.ter of large follicle, num.er and diam.ters of corpora lutea. The inclusion of QT_(200) shortened days open(DO) and decreased num.er of services per ***, QT did not show significant effects on serum.total protein, album.n, globulin, glucose,cholesterol and triglycerides concentrations. Supplem.ntation of QT100 caused an increase(P m.urea com.ared with that in control and QT_(200) groups. Generally, QT decreased(P m.creatinine concentration. Therefore, the supplem.ntation of a com.ercial QT to early lactating Egyptian buffalo cows displayed negative consequences on their productive and reproductive perform.nces.

The exponential increase in new coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)cases and deaths has m.de COVID-19 the leading cause of death in m.ny ***,in this study,we propose an efficient technique for the autom.tic detection of COVID-19 and pneum.nia based on X-ray im.ges.A stacked denoising convolutional autoencoder(SDCA)m.del was proposed to classify X-ray im.ges into three classes:norm.l,pneum.nia,and *** SDCA m.del was used to obtain a good representation of the input data and extract the relevant features from.noisy *** proposed m.del’s architecture m.inly com.osed of eight autoencoders,which were fed to two dense layers and Softm.x *** proposed m.del was evaluated with 6356 im.ges from.the datasets from.different *** experim.nts and evaluation of the proposed m.del were applied to an 80/20 training/validation split and for five cross-validation data splitting,*** m.trics used for the SDCA m.del were the classification accuracy,precision,sensitivity,and specificity for both *** results dem.nstrated the superiority of the proposed m.del in classifying X-ray im.ges with high accuracy of 96.8%.Therefore,this m.del can help physicians accelerate COVID-19 diagnosis.

Postoperative Radiotherapy in Bladder Cancer Patients: 5-Year Institutional Experience of National Cancer Institute, Cairo University

Purpose: Adjuvant radiation therapy could reduce loco regional failure, but currently has no defined role because of previously reported m.rbidity. NCI-Cairo routine work is to give adjuvant PORT for locally advanced bladder carcinom. patients. The aim.of this work is to re-evaluate this protocol regarding its effect on prognosis and com.lications. Patients and m.thod: A retrospective study included 208 patients with pathologically proven bladder cancer who presented to the NCI, Cairo University from.2007-2011. All of them.underwent RC with bilateral PLND followed by conventional post-operative radiotherapy in 2 - 6 weeks after surgery for 5000 cGy in 25 fractions, over 5 weeks using 2D technique. Analysis of data from.their files was done for the treatm.nt results, prognostic factors and com.lications. Results: Three years overall survival (OS) and disease free survival (DFS) for the whole group was ~60%, and 54% respectively in favour of the fem.le gender, non-sm.kers, Squam.us cell carcinom. patients, low grade tum.urs (grade 1 and 2) negative m.rgins, N0, pT2b and early stage group showed the best prognoses. The 3 years m.tastases free survival (m.S) was ~71%. Only four factors showed a significant relation with the m.S which were the grade, LN status, T-stage and group staging. The local recurrence rate (LRC) at 2 years for the whole group was ~95% and 94% at 3 years. Only surgical m.rgin status and extent of LN dissection had a significant im.act on the LRC. Conclusions: Adjuvant radiotherapy shows sustained im.rovem.nt in the loco regional control, and should be recom.ended for patients with locally advanced disease especially those with less than 10 dissected lym.h nodes and those with positive m.rgins.

A Retrospective Study of Clinicoepidem.ological Aspects of Nasopharyngeal Cancer at NCI-Cairo (2000-2010)

Aim.of Work: The aim.of this work was to study the clinico-epidem.ological characteristics of the patients with nasopharyngeal carcinom. (NPC), analyse the prognostic factors of the disease and to analyse the results of different treatm.nt m.dalities and their effect on loco-regional, distal m.tastatic disease control and both overall survival (OS) and disease free survival (DFS) rates. Patients and m.thods: This is a retrospective study reviewing all adult nasopharyngeal carcinom. (NPC) patients who presented to the radiotherapy departm.nt—National Cancer Institute Cairo University in the period from.(2000-2010). Results: In this study, it was found that the m.an age was 45 years;m.st of the patients were of locally advanced stages. m.ltivariate cox proportional hazards regression identified T-stage, radiotherapy course com.letion & addition of chem.therapy as independent prognostic factors for local control (LC), DFS, & OS. The 5-year LC, DFS and OS rates for all studied patients were 38.2%, 33.5% & 37.2% respectively. The m.dian DFS was 26 m.nths and m.dian OS was 36.5 m.nths. Conclusion: This study m.tches the published data that support that radical concurrent chem.radiation is the m.instay of treatm.nt of locally advanced NPC, & that T-stage, m.stage, prescribed dose com.letion, response to initial treatm.nt are independent prognostic factors for survival. All m.asures should be taken to im.rove the local response during prim.ry treatm.nt as this will im.rove survival rates of patients with NPC.

Surgical Treatm.nt of Gynaecom.stia: A Prospective Study in 75 Patients

Introduction: Gynaecom.stia is a benign enlargem.nt of m.le breast;m.ny techniques have been described for m.nagem.nt but none have gained universal acceptance. We discuss the outcom.s of the surgical m.nagem.nt of gynaecom.stia and assess the m.rbidity and com.lication rates associated with the procedure to determ.ne whether certain surgical techniques produce better outcom.s. m.terials and m.thods: 75 patients with gynaecom.stia were operated in our hospital during the period from.Jan. 2009 to Jan. 2015. Results: A total of 140 breasts were operated on during the study period. Patients underwent either liposuction alone (20 breasts), excision alone (70 breasts), both excision and liposuction (36 breast) or skin reduction procedure (14 breasts). 19 operated breasts (13.4%) experienced som. form.of com.lications. m.nor com.lications included serom. (4 patients), superficial wound dehiscence (3 patients) and two patients developed haem.tom.s requiring evacuation in theatre. Unsatisfactory cosm.tic result was present in 10 breasts and surgical revision was done in 5 breasts. Sim.n grade 111 breasts experienced the highest com.lication rate. Conclusion: The study has found that m.derate sized gynaecom.stia whether true or pseudo gynaecom.stia with m.ld to m.derate breast redundancy can be m.naged easily and effectively by liposuction alone or com.ined with glandular resection while the conventional infraareolar subcutaneous m.stectom. still gives satisfactory results and with no need to rem.ve extra skin. On the other hand, large gynaecom.stia with severe breast redundancy can be treated effectively by the inferior pedicle technique without vertical scar.

In this paper, we introduce a num.rical treatm.nt using generalized Euler m.thod (GEm. for the non-linear program.ing problem.which is governed by a system.of fractional differential equations (FDEs). The appeared fractional derivatives in these equations are in the Caputo sense. We com.are our num.rical solutions with those num.rical solutions using RK4 m.thod. The obtained num.rical results of the optim.zation problem.m.del show the sim.licity and the efficiency of the proposed schem..

Accuracy and outcom. of rapid ultrasound in shock and hypotension （RUSH） in Egyptian polytraum. patients

OBJECTIVE:"Polytraum." patients are of a higher risk of com.lications and death than the sum.ation of expected m.rtality and m.rbidity of their individual injuries. The ideal goal in traum. resuscitation care is to identify and treat all injuries. With clinical and technological advanced im.ging available for diagnosis and treatm.nt of traum.tic patients, point of care-rapid ultrasound in shock and hypotension (RUSH) significantly affects m.dern traum. services and patient outcom.s. This study aim. to evaluate the accuracy of RUSH and patient outcom.s by early detection of the causes of unstable polytraum..;m.THODS:This cross-sectional, prospective study included 100 unstable polytraum. patients adm.tted in Suez Canal University Hospital. Clinical exam. RUSH and pan-com.uted tom.graphy (pan-CT) were conducted. The result of CT was taken as the standard. Patients were m.naged according to the advanced traum. life support (ATLS) guidelines and treated of life threatening conditions if present. Patients were followed up for 28 days for a short outcom..;RESULTS:The m.st diagnostic causes of unstability in polytraum. patients by RUSH are hypovolem.c shock (64%), followed by obstructive shock (14%), distributive shock (12%) and cardiogenic shock (10%) respectively. RUSH had 94.2% sensitivity in the diagnosis of unstable polytraum. patients; the accuracy of RUSH in shock patients was 95.2%.;CONCLUSIONS:RUSH is accurate in the diagnosis of unstable polytraum. patients; and 4% of patients were diagnosed during follow-up after adm.ssion by RUSH and pan-CT.

A clinicoepidem.ological study of esophageal cancer patients at the National Cancer Institute,Cairo University,Egypt

Objective The purposes of this study were to(1) assess the clinicoepidem.ological characteristics of esophageal cancer patients,(2) analyze the prognostic factors determ.ning treatm.nt failure and survival, and(3) evaluate the results of various treatm.nt m.dalities for locoregional and dissem.nated disease and their effect on disease-free survival and overall survival(OS).m.thods Clinicoepidem.ological retrospective data from.81 esophageal cancer patients treated at the National Cancer Institute of Cairo between 2007 and 2011 were evaluated. Results The study showed that patients with esophageal cancer com.only present with locally advanced disease(87.7% had T-stage 3 and 12.3% had T-stage 4). There was a significant correlation between surgery and survival; patients who received radical surgery and postoperative radiation had a better m.dian survival than patients who received radical radiotherapy(20 m.nths vs. 16 m.nths, respectively; P = 0.04). There was also a significant statistical correlation between radical concom.tant chem.radiotherapy(NCRT) and palliative treatm.nt. Patients who received radical NCRT had a better m.dian survival than patients who received palliative radiotherapy(16 m.nths vs. 10 m.nths, respectively; P = 0.001). The m.dian follow-up period for all patients was 7 m.nths. The m.dian OS of the whole group was 12 m.nths. The OS after 1 and 2 years was 57.8% and 15%, *** High-dose NCRT is an acceptable alternative for patients unfit for surgery or with inoperable disease. High-dose radiation is m.re effective than low-dose radiation in term. of local control, tim. to relapse, and OS. Further study using a larger series of patients and introducing new treatm.nt protocols is necessary for a final evaluation.
