Impact of Some Amendments on Some Soil Properties and Plant Growth in Desert Area of Iran

Water availability and soil physicochemical properties are the most important factors for the establishment and growth of plant seedlings in arid and desert areas. Improving water use efficiency and soil properties are two major factors for sustainable development in these regions. Therefore, this research aimed to study the effectiveness of biological hydrogel (b), PLANTBAC vegetation layer (PB), sand (sa) and barley straw (st) with inter-row system on some soil properties, including N, Cl, Zn, Fe, clay, silt and sand percentages, ρb?and water use efficiency under the cultivation of Nitraria schoberi. This experiment was tested in a split plot design with 3 replications and 10 observations in 2015 during 2 years at Semnan province’s Natural Resources Research Station. Data analysis was carried out in SAS software version 9.1.3. According to the results, the highest amount of Cl was obtained at non-micro catchment by straw and sand treatments, as well as at micro catchment by PB treatments. The highest amount of Zn was obtained at non-micro catchment by straw treatment (1.106). The results of mulch effect on Fe showed that four mulch treatments did not have significant difference with the control. Also, the highest amount of total N content was observed at micro catchment by hydrogel treatment. There was not any significant difference among environment and clay, silt and sand treatments and about plant establishment and, all four mulch treatments had significantly higher moisture content and establishment than the control. The results of mulch effect on water use efficiency showed that there was a significant difference between all four mulch treatments (P 0.01) and the control. The highest water use efficiency occurred in sand treatment (0.243), and the lowest was under straw mulches (0.154). Background Natural and synthetic plant growth regulators are essential for plant health,likewise these regulators also play a role in increasing organic production productivity and improving quality and yield *** the present study,we have evaluated the effects of foliar applied plant growth regulators,i.e.,moringa leaf extract(MLE)and mepiquat chloride(MC)alone and in combination MC and MLE on the conventional cotton cultivar(CIM 573)and transgenic one(CIM 598).The growth regulators were applied at the start of bloom,45 and 90 days after *** The application of MC and MLE at 90 days after blooming significantly improved the relative growth rate,net assimilation rate,the number of bolls per plant,and seed cotton ***,the combined application of MLE and MC at 90 days after blooming significantly boosted the nitrogen uptake in locules,as well as the phosphorus and potassium uptake in the leaves of both cotton *** application of MLE alone has considerably improved the nitrogen uptake in leaves,and phosphorus and potassium contents in locules of Bt and conventional cotton ***,Bt cotton treated with MLE at 90 days after blooming produced significantly higher ginning out turn and oil *** in combination(MLE+MC)at 90 days after blooming produced considerably higher micronaire value,fiber strength,and staple length in conventional *** The natural growth enhancer,MLE is a rich source of minerals and zeatin,improving the nutrient absorption and quality of cotton fiber in both conventional and Bt cotton cultivars.

A study of aqueous humour proteins in patients of primary open angle glaucoma

Aims: To investigate the changes in the protein composition of aqueous humour in primary open angle glaucoma patients and non-glaucomatous subjects. Patients and Methods: Case control study was conducted at a university hospital to compare the protein profile of aqueous humour obtained from patients of primary open angle glaucoma with those of non glaucomatous subjects. Protein concentration of the aqueous humour samples collected from both glaucomatous and non-glaucomatous patients at the time of surgery was estimated by the Bradford protein assay method. Sodium dodecylsulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis of the samples was also performed. Results: Geometric mean of protein concentration of the samples was 55.73 mg/dl (range: 31-72) in the test group and 46.46 mg/dl (range: 27-65) in the control group and a statistically significant (p ≤= 0.001) difference in protein concentration of aqueous humour between the two groups was observed. Electrophoretic study revealed differences in the aqueous protein composition of the two groups. The glaucomatous group exhibited protein bands of 10 kDa, 20 kDa, 30 kDa, 50 kDa, 60 kDa, 70 kDa, and 90 kDa while the control subjects demonstrated bands of 6 kDa, 10 kDa, 30 kDa, 70 kDa, 90 kDa. Interestingly, almost all the proteins detected in this study corresponded to the molecular weights of heat shock proteins. Conclusions: Primary open angle glaucoma patients differed in protein compositions and had higher concentration of aqueous humour proteins than non glaucomatous patients.

Biodegradation of resorcinol by Pseudomonas sp.

Objective:To investigate the ability of Pseudomonas *** from East Azarbaijan,Iran in bioremediation of ***:Resorcinol biodegradation was evaluated using spectrophotometry and confirmed by gas chromatography-mass ***:This isolate was able to remove up to 37.12%of resorcinol from contaminated *** experiments had confirmed the biodegradation process which produced seven intermediate *** intermediates were characterized by gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy *** products of resorcinol biodegradation were apparently 1,4-cyclohexadiene,nonadecene,2-heptadecanone,1-isopropyl-2-methoxy-4-methylbenzene,hexadecanoic acid,9-octadecenoic acid,phenol and 5-methyl-2-(1-methylethyl).Conclusions:The findings revealed that Pseudomonas *** able to degrade *** of being an indigenous organism,this isolate is more compatible with the climate of the northwest region of Iran and possibly will be used for degradation of other similar aromatic compounds.

BACKGROUND Prediabetes is a well-established risk factor for major adverse cardiac and cerebrovascular events(MACCE).However,the relationship between prediabetes and MACCE in atrial fibrillation(AF)patients has not been extensively ***,this study aimed to establish a link between prediabetes and MACCE in AF *** To investigate a link between prediabetes and MACCE in AF *** We used the National Inpatient Sample(2019)and relevant ICD-10 CM codes to identify hospitalizations with AF and categorized them into groups with and without prediabetes,excluding *** primary outcome was MACCE(all-cause inpatient mortality,cardiac arrest including ventricular fibrillation,and stroke)in AF-related *** Of the 2965875 AF-related hospitalizations for MACCE,47505(1.6%)were among patients with *** prediabetes cohort was relatively younger(median 75 vs 78 years),and often consisted of males(56.3%vs 51.4%),blacks(9.8%vs 7.9%),Hispanics(7.3%vs 4.3%),and Asians(4.7%vs 1.6%)than the non-prediabetic cohort(P<0.001).The prediabetes group had significantly higher rates of hypertension,hyperlipidemia,smoking,obesity,drug abuse,prior myocardial infarction,peripheral vascular disease,and hyperthyroidism(all P<0.05).The prediabetes cohort was often discharged routinely(51.1%vs 41.1%),but more frequently required home health care(23.6%vs 21.0%)and had higher *** adjusting for baseline characteristics or comorbidities,the prediabetes cohort with AF admissions showed a higher rate and significantly higher odds of MACCE compared to the non-prediabetic cohort[18.6%vs 14.7%,odds ratio(OR)1.34,95%confidence interval 1.26-1.42,P<0.001].On subgroup analyses,males had a stronger association(aOR 1.43)compared to females(aOR 1.22),whereas on the race-wise comparison,Hispanics(aOR 1.43)and Asians(aOR 1.36)had a stronger association with MACCE with prediabetes vs whites(aOR 1.33)and blacks(aOR 1.21).CONCLUSION This population-

A Survey on Poultry Helminth Infection in Golestan Province （North of Iran）

Poultry breeding in a traditional and open environment will carry a great potential of causing parasitic infections in poultry At the present study, 110 domestic poultry were gathered randomly from wet areas （Gorgan, Minoodasht, Azadshahr, Ali Abad Katool, Kalaleh, Galikesh） and dry areas （Gonbad Kavoos, Agh Ghala） of Golestan province in 1388s. After dissecting, their bronchial tube and digestive system were examined for presenting of parasitic helminthes. Consequently, the rate of parasitic infection in domestic poultry was 92.73% which comprised： Heterakis gallinarum （18.18%）, Subulura brumpti （7.27%）, Acuaria spiralis （15.45%）, Capillaria sp （1.81%）, Ascaridia galli （48.18%）, Syngamus trachea （15.45%）, Syngamus trachea sp （2.73%）, Choanotaenia infundibulum （11.81%）, Raillietina tetragona （53.63%）, Raillietina cesticyllus （14.45%）, Raillietina echinobothrida （25.45%） Drepanidotaenia lanceolata （1.81%）. It is also necessary to cite that there is no relevance between helminth infection and age （P = 0.178）, species （P = 0.278） and geographical zone （P = 0.504）. Therefore, in order to reduce the parasitic infection, performing a directorial system beside the efforts for reducing its potentiality is extremely necessary.

Characterization of the Causal Organism of Soft Rot of Tomatoes and Other Vegetables and Evaluation of Its Most Aggressive Isolates

To isolate the causal organism of soft rot of vegetables, diseased samples of potato, tomato, carrot, chilies, and bell pepper, were analyzed in the lab, using nutrient agar (NA) and/or the enrichment host (Bell pepper) technique. Successful isolations were purified by sub-culturing, identified as Erwinia carotovora subsp. carotovora through biochemical tests and their pathogenicity was confirmed through inoculation on green tomato fruits. The isolates were tested for their aggressiveness to find out the most aggressive one in term of producing maximum soft rot on tomatoes. CRD (completely randomized design), with four replication was used and data were analyzed using LSD (least significant test) test. Among the five isolates evaluated for aggressiveness on tomato fruits, chili isolate was found to be the most aggressive followed by tomato and potato isolates producing 22.3 mm, 7.9 mm, and 7.8 mm diameter soft rot lesions, respectively.

Ecdysis is a comm on phe nomenon that happe ns throughout the life phase of the giant freshwater prawn Macrobrachium *** is vital to better understand the correlation between cannibalism and biochemical compound that exists during the moulting *** objective of the present study was to determine the amino acid profile released by *** during the ecdysis process that promotes *** accomplish this,changes in amino acid levels(total amino acid(TAA)and free amino acid(FAA))of tissue muscle,exoskeleton,and sample water of culture medium from the moulting(E-stage)and non-moulting(C-stage)prawns were analysed using highperformanee liquid chromatography(HPLC).Comparison study revealed that among the TAA compounds,proline and sarcosine of tissues from moulting prawn were found at the highest *** level of FAA from water that contains moulting prawns(E-stage)was dominated by tryptophan and *** values obtained in the present study suggested that these amino acid compounds act as a chemical cue to promote cannibalism in *** during *** knowledge of compositions and compounds that were released during the moulting process should be helpful for better understanding of the mechanism and chemical cues that play roles on triggering cannibalism,and also for future dietary man ipulati on to improve feeding efficie ncies and feeding man agement,which in directly impacts productivity and profitability.

Prevalence of Mental Disorders and Health Service Utilization among Individuals with Turkish Migration Backgrounds in Germany: A Study Protocol for an Epidemiological Investigation

Background: There is a lack of reliable epidemiological data on prevalence and comorbidity rates of mental disorders in the migrant population in Germany. Despite existing national and international data on the extent of psychosocial burdens in migrant populations the prevalence among the study population remains unclear. The aim of this study was to collect prevalence data for the largest migrant population in Germany-individuals with Turkish migration backgrounds—using a culturally and linguistically sensitive approach. Methods: The study employs a cross-sectional design. The multi-centre study (Hamburg, Berlin) is based on a sample of individuals with Turkish migration backgrounds living in the two cities stratified by age, gender, and education. The study programme consists of three phases: 1) a qualitative focus group to collect information on how to increase the participation rate of the target population as a minority group in Germany;2) a translation phase to create culture and linguistic sensitive versions of the assessment tools (e.g., the Composite International Diagnostic Interview (CIDI) for Turkish speaking individuals;and 3) a baseline community study to assess the lifetime, 12-month and four-week prevalence and comorbidity rates of mental disorder, health care utilization and help-seeking behaviour in individuals of Turkish migration backgrounds living in Germany. Discussion: The study provides important data on the lifetime prevalence of mental disorders and health care utilization of individuals with Turkish migration backgrounds. Furthermore, the study is an important step towards gaining a better understanding of potential barriers to participation, creating resources for difficult-to- reach minorities, and understanding the need for assessing mental disorders in migrant populations.
