Fading Channels Parametric Data Simulation Supported by Real Data from Outdoor Experiments

Optimizing the estimates of received power signals is important as it can improve the process of transferring an active call from one base station in a cellular network to another base station without any interruptions to the call. The lack of effective techniques for estimation of shadow power in fading mobile wireless communication channels motivated the use of Kalman Filtering (KF) as an effective alternative. In our research, linear second-order state space Kalman Filtering was further investigated and tested for applicability. We first created simulation models for two KF-based estimators designed to estimate local mean (shadow) power in mobile communications corrupted by multipath noise. Simulations were used extensively in the initial stage of this research to validate the proposed method. The next challenge was to determine if the models would work with real data. Therefore, in [1] we presented a new technique to experimentally characterize the wireless small-scale fading channel taking into consideration real environmental conditions. The two-dimensional measurement technique enabled us to perform indoor experiments and collect real data. Measurements from these experiments were then used to validate simulation models for both estimators. Based on the indoor experiments, we presented new results in [2], where we concluded that the second-order KF-based estimator is more accurate in predicting local shadow power profiles than the first-order KF-based estimator, even in channels with imposed non-Gaussian measurement noise. In the present paper, we extend experiments to the outdoor environment to include higher speeds, larger distances, and distant large objects, such as tall buildings. Comparison was performed to see if the system is able to operate without a failure under a variety of conditions, which demonstrates model robustness and further investigates the effectiveness of this method in optimization of the received signals. Because of the high energy demand required to heat a production hall, the aim of this project is to find out whether it is possible to verify the heating consuming process for heating with the standard simplified calculation method [1], especially for cold regions such as Kosice (Slovakia). The energy requirement for heating a case study industrial building was evaluated using measurements and *** the winter period, energy consumption was measured in the selected industrial building according to a validation standard [2]. The building is comprised of two halls. The measurements were analyzed according to the criteria used for validating residential and public buildings, with several regression dependencies taken into account in the resulting evaluation of heating energy consumption. The mathematical dependencies of measured values in real conditions are shown in this paper. In addition, the building’s heating energy demand was calculated according to the Austrian standard [3], ?NORM EN ISO 13790, the simplified calculation method for non-residential buildings. It was investigated whether the measured values could be replicated using this calculation. It was found that the precise definition of the internal heat gains is very important.

Medicinal plants are under continuous analysis worldwide to explore new medication to treat atherosclerosis and cardiovascular diseases. Citrus fruits have displayed utmost antioxidant activity, particularly flavonoids in Citrus paradisi have exhibited strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory characteristics. This study was intended to examine effects of C. paradisi on blood coagulation and anticoagulation at doses of 0.1, 0.3 and 0.5 ml/kg. Highly significant increase in thrombin time (TT) and substantial decline in fibrinogen (Fb) level was noticed as related to control. There was substantial increase in TT, prothrombin time (PT) and activated partial thromboplastin time (aPTT) and noteworthy decrease in Fb level by warfarin. C. paradisi at 0.3 ml/kg considerably inhibited aggregation of platelet by collagen, adenosine phosphate, arachidonic acid and epinephrine, while there was also substantial rise in Protein C, TAT complex, RBC and hemoglobin concentration. In conclusion, these results suggest that the addition of C. paradisi to the diet of patients at risk of developing cardiovascular events could significantly decrease the morbidity or mortality in these patients due to high contents of phytochemicals like naringin, hesperidin, limonene and other flavonoids.

A study of aqueous humour proteins in patients of primary open angle glaucoma

Aims: To investigate the changes in the protein composition of aqueous humour in primary open angle glaucoma patients and non-glaucomatous subjects. Patients and Methods: Case control study was conducted at a university hospital to compare the protein profile of aqueous humour obtained from patients of primary open angle glaucoma with those of non glaucomatous subjects. Protein concentration of the aqueous humour samples collected from both glaucomatous and non-glaucomatous patients at the time of surgery was estimated by the Bradford protein assay method. Sodium dodecylsulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis of the samples was also performed. Results: Geometric mean of protein concentration of the samples was 55.73 mg/dl (range: 31-72) in the test group and 46.46 mg/dl (range: 27-65) in the control group and a statistically significant (p ≤= 0.001) difference in protein concentration of aqueous humour between the two groups was observed. Electrophoretic study revealed differences in the aqueous protein composition of the two groups. The glaucomatous group exhibited protein bands of 10 kDa, 20 kDa, 30 kDa, 50 kDa, 60 kDa, 70 kDa, and 90 kDa while the control subjects demonstrated bands of 6 kDa, 10 kDa, 30 kDa, 70 kDa, 90 kDa. Interestingly, almost all the proteins detected in this study corresponded to the molecular weights of heat shock proteins. Conclusions: Primary open angle glaucoma patients differed in protein compositions and had higher concentration of aqueous humour proteins than non glaucomatous patients.

Objective:To investigate the ability of Pseudomonas *** from East Azarbaijan,Iran in bioremediation of ***:Resorcinol biodegradation was evaluated using spectrophotometry and confirmed by gas chromatography-mass ***:This isolate was able to remove up to 37.12%of resorcinol from contaminated *** experiments had confirmed the biodegradation process which produced seven intermediate *** intermediates were characterized by gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy *** products of resorcinol biodegradation were apparently 1,4-cyclohexadiene,nonadecene,2-heptadecanone,1-isopropyl-2-methoxy-4-methylbenzene,hexadecanoic acid,9-octadecenoic acid,phenol and 5-methyl-2-(1-methylethyl).Conclusions:The findings revealed that Pseudomonas *** able to degrade *** of being an indigenous organism,this isolate is more compatible with the climate of the northwest region of Iran and possibly will be used for degradation of other similar aromatic compounds.

To isolate the causal organism of soft rot of vegetables, diseased samples of potato, tomato, carrot, chilies, and bell pepper, were analyzed in the lab, using nutrient agar (NA) and/or the enrichment host (Bell pepper) technique. Successful isolations were purified by sub-culturing, identified as Erwinia carotovora subsp. carotovora through biochemical tests and their pathogenicity was confirmed through inoculation on green tomato fruits. The isolates were tested for their aggressiveness to find out the most aggressive one in term of producing maximum soft rot on tomatoes. CRD (completely randomized design), with four replication was used and data were analyzed using LSD (least significant test) test. Among the five isolates evaluated for aggressiveness on tomato fruits, chili isolate was found to be the most aggressive followed by tomato and potato isolates producing 22.3 mm, 7.9 mm, and 7.8 mm diameter soft rot lesions, respectively.

目的:确定罗氏沼虾在蜕皮过程(该过程引起同类残杀)中释放的氨基酸组分,并明确其中差异的氨基酸成分。创新点:了解罗氏沼虾蜕皮过程中生化组分的变化对于理解同类残杀的重要意义。目前,还没有关于同类残杀和蜕皮过程与生化组分之间关系的研究报道。本研究以此为切入点,采用统计学方法探究二者之间的关联,并鉴定其中差异的氨基酸成分。方法:在人工饲养条件下,测定了蜕皮阶段和非蜕皮阶段的罗氏沼虾肌肉、外骨骼和养殖水体中的总氨基酸及自由氨基酸组分,采用双因素方差分析法比较分析了两个阶段氨基酸组分的差异,同时鉴定了差异的氨基酸成分。结论:在蜕皮阶段,组织中的总氨基酸以脯氨酸和肌氨酸的含量最高,而水体中的自由氨基酸含量以色氨酸和脯氨酸为主。研究结果表明,这些氨基酸组分在罗氏沼虾蜕皮过程中释放了促进同类残杀的化学信号。

Prevalence of Mental Disorders and Health Service Utilization among Individuals with Turkish Migration Backgrounds in Germany: A Study Protocol for an Epidemiological Investigation

Background: There is a lack of reliable epidemiological data on prevalence and comorbidity rates of mental disorders in the migrant population in Germany. Despite existing national and international data on the extent of psychosocial burdens in migrant populations the prevalence among the study population remains unclear. The aim of this study was to collect prevalence data for the largest migrant population in Germany-individuals with Turkish migration backgrounds—using a culturally and linguistically sensitive approach. Methods: The study employs a cross-sectional design. The multi-centre study (Hamburg, Berlin) is based on a sample of individuals with Turkish migration backgrounds living in the two cities stratified by age, gender, and education. The study programme consists of three phases: 1) a qualitative focus group to collect information on how to increase the participation rate of the target population as a minority group in Germany;2) a translation phase to create culture and linguistic sensitive versions of the assessment tools (e.g., the Composite International Diagnostic Interview (CIDI) for Turkish speaking individuals;and 3) a baseline community study to assess the lifetime, 12-month and four-week prevalence and comorbidity rates of mental disorder, health care utilization and help-seeking behaviour in individuals of Turkish migration backgrounds living in Germany. Discussion: The study provides important data on the lifetime prevalence of mental disorders and health care utilization of individuals with Turkish migration backgrounds. Furthermore, the study is an important step towards gaining a better understanding of potential barriers to participation, creating resources for difficult-to- reach minorities, and understanding the need for assessing mental disorders in migrant populations. Experiments were conducted to evaluate the efficacy of two frozen organism (with and without instant Nannochloropsis oculata and with and without instant encapsulated Spirulina) and artificial diet (with and without artificial encapsulated shrimp larvae feed) with live food as continues feed in the larval rearing of blue swimming crab, Portunus pelagicus. The larvae were conducted with six treatments and each treatment with three replications on newly one day hatched larvae in each replication. Results showed that these larvae fed with a combination diet of instant frozen N. oculata, Artemia nauplii and rotifer give a higher survival rate till 1st day juvenile crab compared to the treatment with instant encapsulated Spirulina and artificial diet (with artificial encapsulated shrimp larvae feed). One of experiments treated with encapsulated Spirulina recorded only 16 days for the zoea to reach the C1, one day earlier as compared to previous trials treated with and without instant frozen N. oculata. One of the experiments treated with artificial encapsulated shrimp larvae feed recorded 18 days for the zoea to reach the C1, 1 to 2 days longer as compared to all the previous trials earlier. Food type influenced survival, development, and metamorphosis to megalopa and 1st day juvenile crab of P. pelagicus zoea larvae. Our findings illustrate that the best survival, the most rapid development and the highest number of 1st day juvenile crabs were obtained from larvae fed with a combination diet of frozen N. oculata, Artemia nauplii and rotifer from hatching till the 1st day juvenile crab.
