Naturalﬁbre(NfR)reinforced functional polymer composites are quickly becoming an indispensable sustainable material in the transportation industry because of their lightweight,lower cost in manufacture,and adaptability to a wide variety of ***,the major difﬁculties of using theseﬁbres are their existing poor dimensional stability and the extreme *** assessing the mechanical properties(MP)of composites,the interfacial bonding(IB)happening between the NfR and the polymer matrix(PM)plays an incredibly signiﬁcant *** compared to NfR/syntheticﬁbre hybrid composites,hybrid composites(HC)made up of two separate NfR are less prevalent;yet,these hybrid composites also have the potential to be valuable materials in terms of environmental issues.A new dimension to theﬂexibility of composites reinforced with NfR is added by the cost-effective manufacture of hybrid composites utilising *** purpose of this study is to offer an over-view of the keyﬁndings that were presented on hybrid *** emphasis was focused on the factors that inﬂuence the performance of the naturalﬁber composites,diverse approaches to enhancing MP,physical,electri-cal,and thermal characteristics of the *** study in polymer science gains interest for applications in con-struction and automotive industries.

The establishment of the National Low Carbon City Master Plan(NLCCM)by Malaysia’s government presents a significant opportunity to minimize carbon emissions at the subnational or local scales,while simultaneously fostering remarkable economic ***,the lack of data management and understanding of emissions at the subnational level are hindering effective climate policies and planning to achieve the nationally determined contribution and carbon neutrality *** is an urgent need for a subnational emission inventory to understand and manage subnational emissions,particularly that of the energy sector which contribute the biggest to Malaysia’s *** research aims to estimate carbon emissions for Selangor state in accordance with the Global Protocol for Community-Scale Greenhouse Gas Emission Inventories(GPC),for stationary energy *** study also evaluates the mitigation potential of floating Solar Photovoltaic(fSPV)proposed for *** was found that the total stationary energy emission for Selangor for the year 2019 was 18,070.16 ktCO2e,contributed the most by the Manufacturing sub-sector(40%),followed by the Commercial and Institutional sub-sector;with 82%contribution coming from the Scope 2 *** highest sub-sector of Scope 1 emissions was contributed by Manufacturing while Scope 2 emissions from the Commercial and ***,the highest fuel consumed was natural gas,which amounted to 1404.32 ktCO2e(44%)of total *** fSPV assessment showed the potential generation of 2.213 TWh per year,by only utilizing 10%of the identified available ponds and dams in Selangor,equivalent to an emission reduction of 1726.02 ktCO2e,offsetting 11.6%Scope 2 electricity *** results from the study can be used to better evaluate existing policies at the sub-national level,discover mitigation opportunities,and guide the creation of future policies.

Effects of video game-based therapy in an adolescent with cerebral palsy: A case report

BACKGROUND Herein,we report the case of a 13-year-old boy with spastic quadriplegia cerebral palsy(CP)at Gross Motor function Classification System(GMfCS)level II,en-gaging in a 6-wk video game-based therapy(VBT)*** study aimed to offer essential insights regarding VBT’s impact on enhancing the physical function and improving the quality of life(QoL)of adolescents diagnosed with *** report provides a distinctive viewpoint that can inform and direct future clinical practices and research *** SUMMARY The boy presented with moderate mobility,balance,and overall *** faced challenges with diminished lower limb strength,which affected his daily living and physical fitness *** participant was diagnosed with spas-tic quadriplegic CP at GMfCS level *** participated in a 6-wk program of VBT using a play *** innovative approach incorporates warm-up exercises,interactive activities,and cool-down routines,targeting various movements,in-cluding single-leg stance,weight shifting,kicking,jumping,marching,and *** VBT,the strength of the left hip extensor significantly increased from 199.3 N to 541.3 *** covered as part of a 6-min walk test increased by 82 *** Paediatric QoL Inventory score increased dramatically by 25.9%.CONCLUSION VBT is an innovative,individualized therapy that enhances physical function and QoL in CP,emphasizing its role in ambulatory patients.

Nature experience promotes preference for and willingness to coexist with wild animals among urban and suburban residents in Malaysia

Introduction:A decline in direct experience with nature can lead to disaffection of natural environments,wildlife,and public indifference towards biodiversity *** study measured on affective attitude towards wildlife(i.e.,preferences for and willingness to coexist with 22 animal species)and examined the relationships between these attitudes and childhood experiences with ***:A face to face interview was carried out in rapidly urbanizing Malaysia for both urban and suburban 357 adults(age>20 years old).Results:It found that Malaysian people liked several insects and squirrels,but disliked mammals *** analysis,with controlling sociodemographic factors(gender,age and ethnicity),showed that childhood nature experience was positively associated with preference for wild animals(standardized path coefficient=0.18;pference had a strong correlation with willingness to coexistence(standardized path coefficient=0.61;pffects on willingness to coexist with the animals via the preference,particularly for unfavourable *** results suggest that preference and willingness scores,even though they were significantly correlated,were different sides of affective attitudes toward ***:Therefore,to promote biodiversity conservation programs,we need strategies to increase acceptance of wild animals via relevant environmental education and public communication,as well as opportunities for nature activities for children.

Increasing need for materials with special features have brought various new inventions,one of the most promising hope for new material with special features and functionalities is composites ***,this study report an integration of zinc nanoparticles into kenaf/polyester polymer composite to introduce new behavior to the *** composite behaviors were compared for mechanical,thermal,moisture absorption and biodegradability *** Zinc Oxide nanoparticles entrenched in the kenaf/polyestaer composites net structure through chemical bonds between kenaf/ZnO/polyester resin,existence of ZnO significantly influence the mechanical and thermals properties of *** analysis based on(TGA)response revealed the integration of ZnO nanoparticles improved the thermal stability when thermal decomposition temperature beyond 3650 *** thermal cracking decreased with present of ZnO and increase with kenaf content(layers).The modulus,Tensile strength,break at elongation,flexural modulus,flexural strength and impact strength of the composites with higher content kenaf/ZnO nanoparticle are 560 MPa,58MPa,1.8%,1300 PMa,68 MPa and 31 MPa,***,addition of kenaf layers and ZnO results in larger mechanical properties enhancement,the results of the contact angle show improvement in wetting of the fibres with addition of ZnO nanoparticles.

Validation of the trauma mortality prediction scores from a Malaysian population

Background:Well-known trauma mortality prediction scores such as New Injury Severity Score (NISS), Revised Trauma Score (RTS), and Trauma and Injury Severity Score (TRISS) have been externally validated from high-income countries with established trauma databases. However, these scores were never used in Malaysian population. In this current study, we attempted to validate these scoring systems using our regional trauma surgery database. Methods:A retrospective analysis of the regional Malaysian Trauma Surgery Database was performed over a period of 3 years from May 2011 to April 2014. NISS, RTS, Major Trauma Outcome Study (MTos)-TRISS, and National Trauma Database (NTrD)-TRISS scores were recorded and calculated. Individual scoring system's performance in predicting trauma mortality was compared by calculating the area under the receiver operating characteristic (AUC) curve. Youden index and associated optimal cutoff values for each scoring system was calculated to predict mortality. The corresponding positive predictive value, negative predictive value, and accuracy of the cutoff values were calculated. Results:A total of 2208 trauma patients (2004 blunt and 204 penetrating injuries) with mean age of 36 (SD=16) years were included. There were 239 deaths with a corresponding mortality rate of 10.8%. The AUC calculated for the NISS, RTS, MTos-TRISS, and NTrD-TRISS were 0.878, 0.802, 0.812, and 0.848, respectively. The NISS score with a cutoff value of 24, sensitivity of 86.6%and specificity of 74.3%, outperformed the rest (pf 75.6%;its positive predictive value was at 29.02%and negative predictive value at 97.86%. Conclusion:Amongst the four scores, the NISS score is the best trauma mortality prediction model suited for a local Malaysian trauma population. further validation with multicentre data in the country may require to ascertain the finding.

Prevalence of Strongyloides in Southeast Asia:a systematic review and meta-analysis with implications for public health and sustainable control strategies

Production of High Purity Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes from Catalytic Decomposition of Methane

Acid-based purification process of multi-walled carbon nanotubes （MWNTs） produced via catalytic decomposition of methane with NiO/TiO2 as a catalyst is described. By combining the oxidation in air and the acid refluxes, the impurities, such as amorphous carbon, carbon nanoparticles, and the NiO/TiO2 catalyst, are eliminated. Scanning electron microscopy （SEM） and transmission electron microscopy （TEM） images confirm the removal of the impurities. The percentage of the carbon nanotubes purity was analyzed using thermal gravimetric analysis （TGA）. Using this process, 99.9 wt% purity of MWNTs was obtained.

An Investigation on the Effect of Migration Strategy on Parallel GA-Based Shortest Path Routing Algorithm

Genetic algorithm (GA) is one of the alternative approaches for solving the shortest path routing problem. In previous work, we have developed a coarse-grained parallel GA-based shortest path routing algorithm. With parallel GA, there is a GA operator called migration, where a chromosome is taken from one sub-population to replace a chromosome in another sub-population. Which chromosome to be taken and replaced is subjected to the migration strategy used. There are four different migration strategies that can be employed: best replace worst, best replace random, random replace worst, and random replace random. In this paper, we are going to evaluate the effect of different migration strategies on the parallel GA-based routing algorithm that has been developed in the previous work. Theoretically, the migration strategy best replace worst should perform better than the other strategies. However, result from simulation shows that even though the migration strategy best replace worst performs better most of the time, there are situations when one of the other strategies can perform just as well, or sometimes better.

Smartphone ownership among adolescents is getting common in this decade especially in Malaysia;Adolescent are strongly devoted to their smartphone and this may lead to smartphone *** have reported that smartphone addiction has become an emerging social and health problem especially among the youth in many countries however there is lack of study among adolescents in *** study aimed to examine the prevalence and factors associated with smartphone addiction among adolescents in *** was a cross-sectional study involving adolescents from 15 primary care clinics throughout the *** were assessed on their smartphone activities using the Malaysian short version of the Smartphone addiction scale(SAS-M-SV).Multiple logistic regression was used to determine the predictors of smartphone addiction among *** study was conducted among 921 adolescents with 49.6%male(n=457).The mean age of adolescents was 16.4±2.4 *** ethnicity distribution were 74.6%Malay,7.3%Chinese,4.7%Indian and 13.4%other *** prevalence of smartphone addiction was 37.1%(342/921);37.4%in male and 36.9%in *** on multiple logistic regression analysis,longer duration of smartphone use per week was associated with higher odds of smartphone addiction among adolescent(odd ratio=1.005%,95%confidence interval=1.000–1.009,p-value=0.039).Smartphone addiction is present in nearly four in ten adolescents in *** who spend longer duration in smartphone usage per week were associated with higher odds of having smartphone *** should be more alert and vigilant about this ***,parents should limit their children from spending too much of time with smartphone in order to prevent their children from getting smartphone addiction.
