In this paper, we consider the problem of unknown parameter estimation using a set of nodes that are deployed over an area. The recently proposed distributed adaptive estimation algorithms(also known as adaptive networks) are appealing solutions to the mentioned problem when the statistical information of the underlying process is not available or it varies over time. In this paper, our goal is to develop a new incremental least-mean square(LMS) adaptive network that considers the quality of measurements collected by the nodes. Thus, we use an adaptive combination strategy which assigns each node a step size according to its quality of measurement. The adaptive combination strategy improves the robustness of the proposed algorithm to the spatial variations of signal-to-noise ratio(SNR). The performance of our algorithm is more remarkable in inhomogeneous environments when there are some nodes with low SNRs in the network. The simulation results indicate the efficiency of the proposed algorithm.

This paper is a case report on the success of oocyte retrieval and good quality embryo development following controlled ovarian hyperstimulation at early pregnancy. A 30-year-old patient underwent controlled ovarian hyperstimulation by gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonist long protocol. On the day of oocyte collection, a 5-week gestational sac was observed by exact sonography monitoring. However, via ultrasound guided follicle puncture, 7 oocytes were collected. After intarcytoplasmic sperm injection, 3 developed good quality embryos were cryopreserved. Moreover, the natural pregnancy was continued and finally a healthy live birth was achieved. Despite physiological hormonal changes during pregnancy, the follicular growth occurred and followed by oocyte retrieval and embryo development, subsequently.

A new method employing magnetic nanoparticles Fe3O4 as a catalyst and H2O2 as a green oxidant is developed for the oxidative thiocyanation of aromatic amines, anisols and activated phenols with high yields under mild reaction conditions. The catalyst could be easily recovered from the reaction mixture using an external magnet and reused in several reaction cycles without loss of activity.

In this study, a novel approach to incorporate the pore water pressure in the discrete element method （DEM） to comprehensively model saturated granular media was developed. A numerical model was constructed based on the DEM by implanting additional routines in the basic DEM code; pore water pressure calculations were used with a two-dimensional （2D） model to simulate the undrained behavior of satu- rated granular media. This model coupled the interaction of solid particles and the pore fluid in saturated granular media. Finally, several 2D undrained shear tests were simulated. The test results showed that the model could predict the response of the saturated granular soil to shear loading. The effect of initial compaction was investigated. Biaxial tests on dense and loose specimens were conducted, and the effect of the initial density on the change in shear strength and the volume change of the system was inves- tigated. The overall behavior of loose and dense specimens was phenomenologically similar to the real granular material. Constant volume tests were simulated, and the results were compared to those from the coupled model. Induced anisotropy was micromechanically investigated by studying the contact force orientation. The change in anisotropy depended on the modeling scheme. However, the overall responses of the media obtained usinz the couoled and constant volume methods were similar.

This paper proposes a new method for ship recognition and classification using sound produced and radiated underwater. To do so, a three-step procedure is proposed. First, the preprocessing operations are utilized to reduce noise effects and provide signal for feature extraction. Second, a binary image, made from frequency spectrum of signal segmentation, is formed to extract effective features. Third, a neural classifier is designed to classify the signals. Two approaches, the proposed method and the fractal-based method are compared and tested on real data. The comparative results indicated better recognition ability and more robust performance of the proposed method than the fractal-based method. Therefore, the proposed method could improve the recognition accuracy of underwater acoustic targets.

Erosion,scour and sedimentation are the most common phenomena which should be considered in the design of marine *** and oceans are dynamic environments,hence studying them in more details,gathering more information about their bathymetric changes and pursuing their historical evolution could be beneficial in the efficient design of marine structures such as:jetties,groins and *** achieve this goal one desperately needs to know about currents and waves and the effects of their interactions as well as the rate of sedimentation(Net Gain),and erosion(Net Loss)in the *** the other hand,to obtain a sufficient depth to facilitate marine traffics in the harbors the rate of sediment deposition must be calculated,offering effective annual dredging *** this research the pool of Nowshahr port and some parts to the east and west were *** transport direction was compatible with the counter-clock-wise circulation of the Sothern part of Caspian *** data,water surface elevation,and hydrographic points from the bathymetric surveys applied in the hydrodynamic module of Mike 21 and the output of the hydrodynamic module(HD)were used as inputs for sediment transport module(ST).The result of the ST module shows that the main direction considering dominant waves is from northwest of the Caspian Sea to the ***,net rate of sediment transfer is from west to *** approaching to the main breakwater arms from the west side sediment transport rate decreases which means deposition occurs behind the western arm.

Fouling of WO3 nanoparticle-incorporated PSf membranes in ultrafiltration of landfill leachate and dairy a combined wastewaters： An investigation using model

As fouling has always been a major drawback of membrane technology, qualitative and quantitative understanding of membrane fouling mechanisms therefore becomes vital in order to help push membrane separation technologies forward. In this study, firstly, self-cleaning Polysulfone(PSf) membranes were synthesized by incorporation of WO_3nanoparticles(0–2 wt%) and subsequent UV irradiation for efficient ultrafiltration(UF)of landfill leachate and dairy wastewater. The membrane surface properties were characterized by scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and contact angle analysis. It was found that UV-irradiated membranes exhibited higher percent COD removals due to the hydrophilicity and photocatalytic properties of nano-WO_3. Subsequently, in order to analyze the fouling behavior of the membranes, a set of experimental data from cross-flow ultrafiltration of municipal landfill leachate and industrial dairy wastewater at 25 °C was obtained. A new model of membrane fouling was proposed based on a resistance in series concept and was fitted well with all experimental data *** all relative errors of prediction provided by the proposed model were less than 2.5%. In addition, it was revealed that this newly-developed model exhibited smooth transition between the common successive twostep pore blockage-cake filtration phenomena and thus eliminates the need to use separate equations for different mechanisms.

The faults and fractures are known as two of the most important parameters in earthquake *** the construction in urban areas, faults and fractures may be covered in depth and thus are not visible at the ground surface. In this context, non-invasive geophysical prospecting methods(microtremor and geoelectrical methods) and borehole data were used to detect subsurface geological structures(hidden faults) in a suburb of Shiraz in Iran. The horizontal to vertical spectral ratio(HVSR) method was used to obtain the dynamic parameters(predominant frequency and resonance amplitude) of the soil, to detect hidden faults. The results show that the abrupt changes in the sediment thickness and predominant frequencies at a specific direction(NW-SE) can be related to the displacement of a nearly vertical fault with NW-SE trend. In addition, the electrical resistivity method using continuous resistivity profiling(CRP) and Schlumberger arrays was employed to detect a hidden fault and the results were compared with previous data. The obtained results of both arrays illustrate the presence of a nearly vertical fault with NW-SE trend in the region. Comparison of all results shows that the detected faults by both methods are consistent with each other. Therefore, it can be conclusive that combination of the two methods is a useful and reliable approach to study and detect hidden faults.
