The uncertainty of the Shannon entropy model for shear stress distribution in circular channels

The shear stress distribution at alluvial stream beds and banks is one of the essential parameters in channel stability *** the current paper,a novel uncertainty analysis method based on the framework of a Bayesian Forecasting System(BFS) is presented to evaluate the Shannon entropy model for prediction of the shear stress distribution in both circular rigid-bed and alluvial-bed *** Johnson and Box-Cox transformation functions were applied to select the optimum sample size(SS) and corresponding transformation factor for determining a 95% confidence bound(CB) for the Shannon entropy *** Shapiro-Wilk(SW) test is applied according to the SS used to evaluate the power of transformation functions in the data *** results show that the error distribution between predicted and experimental shear stress values generated using the Box-Cox transformation is closer to a Gaussian distribution than the generated using the Johnson *** indexes of the percentage of the experimental values within the CB(Nin) and Forecast Range Error Estimate(FREE) are applied for the uncertainty *** lower values of FREE equal to 1.724 in the circular rigid-bed channel represent the low uncertainty of Shannon entropy in the prediction of shear stress values compared to the uncertainty for the circular alluvial-bed channel with a FREE value equal to 7.647.

Complete and comprehensive information about sediment dynamic and identification of hotspots of sediment production and transport are necessary for understanding the erosion processes and increasing the efficiency of soil and water conservation *** studies used the sediment fingerprint techniques to investigate the contribution of different sources in suspended and bed sediment yield of the ***,the contribution of various land use/land covers in suspended and bed sediment yield for the great Caspian Sea basin is in an aura of ambiguity and the present study was conducted to gather information about an important part of this area in northern Iran,where rangelands are located upstream of Hyrcanian forests and dense agricultural lands are located *** surface soil of different land use/land covers including forest,rangeland,agriculture and streambank lands were sampled in 30 *** and bed sediments were sampled in the watershed outlet in two high and low water *** characteristics of soil and sediment samples containing 59 elements were measured using ICP-OES GBC *** reliable and suitable tracers from 59 elements were then selected using Range test,Kruskal-Wallis and Discriminant Function Analysis,respectively,in FingerPro package of R *** results showed that for suspended sediment,streambank and rangeland had the highest contributions of 86.2%and 47.5%,respectively,in two high and low water *** bed sediment,in two high and low water periods,rangeland and streambank had the highest contributions of 73.8%and 84.4%,*** use change and especially human activities such as agriculture,road construction and development of residential areas along the main river riparian zone has led to a significant increase in suspended and bed sediments.

The eastern Iranian range,known as the Sistan suture zone in the past,has recently been identified as the Sistan *** Paleogene orogeny is located between the Lut and Afghan *** structural analysis shows that most of the thrusts dip towards the NW so that the Permo-Triassic sediments and Jurassic micro-diorites of the Lut Block overthrusted over the younger *** studies show that the tectonic vergence was from the NW to the SE of the Sechengi area in the NW part of Sistan *** recognized three deformation phases in eastern *** first N-S deformation event(D1)resulted in the formation of tight E-W folds(F1)and associated cleavages(S1).The second E-W deformation event(D2),which occurred in the late Paleogene led to the bending of older structures,including the axial plane of the first-generation folds giving them a new northwest direction(F2).Additionally,the ramp of the first-phase thrusts(striking E-W)was reactivated,acquiring a new NNW orientation and exhibiting SSE tectonic *** third deformation event(D3)resulted in the formation of NNE and WNW conjugate faults in eastern *** consecutive deformation events perpendicular to each other are inconsistent with the models of simple linear orogen presented for eastern Iran(*** of eastern Iran continental crust and subsequence linear collision)and seem more consistent with the buckling orogeny(Orocline).

Molecular investigation of exoU and exoY virulence genes in Pseudomonas aeruginosa collected from hospitalized patients in North of Iran:A descriptive-analytical study

Objective:To investigate the frequency of exoU and exoY genes in patients with Pseudomonas aeruginosa ***:In this study,100 clinical isolates of Pseudomonas aeruginosa were collected from patients hospitalized in educational-therapeutic hospitals and were identified using standard microbiological ***,the antibiotic resistance pattern of the isolates was determined by the disk agar diffusion *** bacterial DNAs were extracted by the alkaline lysis ***,the presence of exoU and exoY genes was evaluated by the PCR ***:In this study,47%,72%,29%,39%,40%,and 44%of the isolates were non-susceptible to piperacillin,aztreonam,ceftazidime,imipenem,tobramycin,and ciprofloxacin,*** addition,95%and 93%of the clinical isolates carried the exoU and exoY *** and fecal isolates had both virulence genes,while only one wound isolate had neither ***,all urinary isolates contained the exoY gene and only one isolate lacked the exoU ***,88 isolates simultaneously had both exoU and exoY ***:High prevalence of exoU and exoY genes in this region indicates a significant role of typeⅢsecretion system in pathogenesis of Pseudomonas *** typeⅢsecretion system may be a suitable target to reduce the pathogenicity of this bacterium.

This paper investigates the reliability of composite laminates with various lay-ups under fatigue *** prediction of failure probability of composite laminates subjected to different loads involves many uncertainties associated with mechanical properties,loading,and boundary *** in the composite material is truly hard to trace because there are individual faults in each ply,and we face a stochastic process due to the scatter in the mechanical *** continuum damage mechanics(CDM),as a powerful approach,is applied to model the damage of fiber,matrix,and fiber/matrix *** method defines criteria for damage detection and determines safe *** material constitutive equations are executed using a subroutine *** first-order reliability method and second-order reliability method have been applied to examine the reliability of laminated *** results are compared with those of the Monte Carlo *** composite laminates under different stress levels are considered for the failure probability *** limit state functions and random variables have been determined based on the CDM ***,the effects of the number of cycles,applied stress,and stacking sequence of the laminate on the reliability and fatigue life in fiber-reinforced laminated composites are assessed.

Quantum-dot cellular automata(QCA)is a new nanotechnology for the implementation of nano-sized digital *** nanotechnology is remarkable in terms of speed,area,and power consumption compared to complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor(CMOS)technology and can significantly improve the design of various logic *** propose a new method for implementing a T-latch in QCA technology in this *** proposed method uses the intrinsic features of QCA in timing and clock phases,and therefore,the proposed cell structure is less occupied and less power-consuming than existing implementation *** the proposed T-latch,compared to previous best designs,reductions of 6.45%in area occupation and 44.49%in power consumption were *** addition,for the first time,a reset-based T-latch and a T-latch with set and reset capabilities are *** the proposed T-latch,a new 3-bit counter is developed which reduces 2.14%cell numbers compared to the best of previous ***,based on the 3-bit counter,a 4-bit counter is designed,which reduces 0.51%cell numbers and 4.16%cross-section area compared to previous *** addition,two selective counters are introduced to count from 0 to 5 and from 2 to *** were performed using QCADesigner and QCAPro tools in coherence vector engine *** proposed circuits are compared with related designs in terms of delay,cell numbers,area,and leakage power.

Synthesis and characterization of niobium-promoted cobalt/iron catalysts supported on carbon nanotubes for the hydrogenation of carbon monoxide

Bimetallic Co /Fe catalysts supported on carbon nanotubes( CNTs) were prepared,and niobium( Nb) was added as promoter to the 70 Co ∶30Fe /CNT catalyst. The physicochemical properties of the catalysts were characterized,and the catalytic performances were analyzed at the same operation conditions( H_2 ∶CO( volume ratio) = 2 ∶1,p = 1 MPa,and t = 260 ℃) in a tubular fixed-bed microreactor system. The addition of Nb to the bimetallic catalyst decreases the average size of the oxide nanoparticles and improves the reducibility of the bimetallic catalyst. Evaluation of the catalyst performance in a Fischer-Tropsch reaction shows that the catalyst results in high selectivity to methane,and the selectivity to C_(5+) increased slightly in the bimetallic catalyst unlike that in the monometallic catalysts. The addition of 1% Nb to the bimetallic catalyst increases CO conversion and selectivity to C_(5+). Meanwhile,a decrease in methane selectivity is observed.

In this paper,a new type of edge coloring of graphs together with an algorithm for such an edge coloring is presented to construct some columnweight three low-density parity-check(LDPC)codes whose Tanner graphs are free of *** kind of edge coloring is applied on some well-known classes of graphs such as complete graphs and complete bipartite graphs to generate some column-weight 3 LDPC codes having flexibility in terms of code length and ***,the constructed(3;k)-regular codes with regularities k=4;5;:::;22 have lengths n=12;20;26,35;48;57;70;88;104;117;140;155;176;204;228;247;280;301;330;having minimum block length compared to the best known similar codes in the *** addition to linear complexity of generating such parity-check matrices,they can be considered as the base matrices of some quasi-cyclic(QC)LDPC codes with maximum achievable girth 18,which inherit the low-complexity encoder implementations of QC-LDPC *** results show that the QC-LDPC codes with large girth lifted from the constructed base matrices have good performances and outperform random codes,progressive edge growth LDPC codes,some finite fields and group rings based QC-LDPC codes and also have a close competition to the standard IEEE 802.16e(WiMAX)code.

Multi-type quasi-cyclic(QC) low-density parity-check(LDPC) codes can be considered as multiple-edge protograph QC-LDPC codes having some advantages in the minimum Hamming distance bound over single-edge protograph codes or type-Ⅰ QC-LDPC codes when the base matrices have the same size. In this paper, we investigate a class of multi-type QC-LDPC codes whose parity-check matrices contain just one blockrow of circulants and we obtain the generator matrix of such codes in general form. Using the permutation arrays and defining injection arrays, we present a new approach to construct a class of high-rate type-Ⅰ QC-LDPC codes with girth 6 from the constructed 4-cycle free multi-type QC-LDPC codes. In continue, for 2 ≤ w≤6, some type-w QC-LDPC codes with girth 6 are constructed explicitly such that the constructed codes are flexible in terms of rate and length. To the best of our knowledge, for w = 5,6, this is the first paper which deals with the explicit construction of type-w QC-LDPC codes with girth 6 and high rates. Moreover, for w = 3, 4, the constructed type-w QC-LDPC codes have better(6,8)-cycle multiplicities than the codes with minimum achievable length recently constructed by cyclic difference families(CDFs). Simulation results show that the binary and non-binary constructed codes outperform the constituent underlying QC-LDPC codes.
