Latest Carboniferous-Early Permian Rifting of the northern Gondwanan Margin and the Opening of the northern neotethys: new Evidence from the Carboniferous and Permian Foraminiferal Assemblages from the Beyşehir-Hoyran nappes, Central Taurides(Southern Turkey)

The Beyşehir-Hoyran nappes,one of the tectonostratigraphic units of the Taurides,are thought to be originated from the Izmir-Ankara Ocean(northern branch of neotethys).In this study,Late Paleozoic rock units from the blocks of Beyşehir-Hoyran nappes were studied in detail using foraminiferal assemblages in two different locations from the southwest of Karaman City(southern Turkey).In both places,blocks/slices and pebbles of various origins are embedded within a highly sheared matrix of Late Cretaceous Age,and the whole unit can be regarded as a sedimentary mé*** ages of the blocks from the southwest of Karaman City range from the Late Serpukhovian(Late Mississippian)to Late Capitanian(Middle Permian)with some depositional breaks(e.g.,Bashkirian,Kasimovian).Combined with the previous data from the Mersin Mélange,which also include the remnants of the Beyşehir-Hoyran nappes,our new findings suggest that a shallowing-upward sequence,characterized by a shallow water environment with foraminifera-bearing limestones,was deposited over the Tournaisian pelagic sequence in the Beyşehir-Hoyran nappes till the Early Moscovian(Early Middle Pennsylvanian).This shallowing-upward sequence in the Beyşehir-Hoyran nappes could be related to the Late Paleozoic Glaciation on the Gondwana supercontinent(Glacial Ⅱ),which resulted in a sea-level drop and deposition of platform carbonates during the Viséan–Early Moscovian(Middle Mississippian to Early Middle Pennsylvanian)time *** absence of the main part of the Middle-Upper Pennsylvanian deposits(continental phase during the Middle Moscovian–Middle Gzhelian)in the Beyşehir-Hoyran nappes can be mainly attributed to the occurrence of a mantle plume and partially to the effect of Late Paleozoic Gondwanan Glaciation(Glacial Ⅲ).Progressive uplifting by the buoyant mantle plume material has resulted in rifting at the center of the basin where the Beyşehir-Hoyran nappes have *** rifting process led to tectonic destabiliz

Simulations of mass attenuation coefficients for shielding materials using the MCnP-X code

Microtextural Characteristics and Origin of Dolomites in the Tepearasi Formation, SW of Beysehir-Konya, Turkey

The Tepearasi Formation of the autochthonous Geyikdagi Group in the CentralTauride Belt, SE of Beysehir, is Dogger in age and consists dominantly of massive limestones andgreyish dolomites occurring within the middle to upper sections. The total thickness of thedolomitic levels ranges from 100-300 m and laterally extends 500-700 m. Three types of dolomite weredistinguished through petrographic analyses: homogeneous, mottled (saddle-crystalline) andjoint-filling dolomite, which were interpreted to have formed in two different stages, earlydiagenetic and late diagenetic. The homogeneous dolomite of the early diagenetic stage islight-coloured and monotonous-textured and shows the form of a dolosparite mosaic. The mottleddolomite formed in the late diagenetic stage is light- to dark-coloured and coarsely granularidiomorphic. The other type of late diagenetic dolomite, described as the joint-filling type,presents a crystal growth pattern from the joint walls towards the centre of the joint space. It isassociated with coarse calcite crystals as well as primary dolomite crystal clasts which were formedin the early diagenetic stage. In addition to these characteristics, cataclastic texture indicatingthe influence of tectonism is also observed. Microtexture-oriented scanning electron microscopy(SEM) studies indicate that mottled dolomites show zonal structures and contain secondarydissolution vugs. SEM studies also revealed the existence of some remains (calcite, clay etc.) injoint-filling dolomites. Analyses by energy dispersive spectrometry (EDS) indicate the existence ofclay minerals (likely to be illite) in the pores of dolomite. Isotope studies conducted to shedlight onto the origin of the dolomites of the Tepearasi Formation yielded the results of delta^18O=-2.48 to - 3.87 per thousand and delta^13C=0.93 to l.12 per thousand for the early diagenetichomogeneous dolomites. Use of chorioamniotic membrane instead of bogota bag in open abdomen: How I Do It?

It is one of the most important problems for general surgeons to decide which operation should be undertaken on patients with intra-abdominal infection, especially those with concomitant abdominal hypertension. Recentlly, closure techniques using prosthetic meshes in order to retain abdominal tension and to control sepsis have become very popular for patients with abdominal sepsis and hypertension. We used chorioamniotic membrane instead of plastic material to cover the open abdomen. We conclude that human chorioamniotic membrane prepared under sterile conditions may be an alternative to conventional plastic bags in daily practice, for preventing serosal erosion and fistulas in patients undergoing open abdominal surgery.

Comparison of wheat-based rotation systems and monocropping systems under dryland Mediterranean conditions

Mono-cropping systems consisting of general low-yielding cereals are crucial productivity constraints in dry areas of the Mediterranean region.A crop rotation consisting of quinoa(Chenopodium quinoa Willd.)-wheat(Triticum aestivum L)-chickpea(Cicer arietinum)was compared with monocropping in the Mediterranean region of Turkey.A four year crop rotation trial was set up in Adana,Turkey.A total of nine crop rotation systems of Quinoa(Q),chickpea(L)and wheat(W)were considered in this *** four year results revealed that there was significant difference in grain and biomass yields,but no significant difference in plant height,harvest index,and 1000 grain weight of wheat among the treatments in crop rotation except number of grains per spike and soil organic *** wheat and chickpea-wheat-chickpea-wheat(LWLW)produced significantly greater grain yield in 2010/2011 and 2011/*** and QWQW rotation produced significantly lower biomass yield in 2008/*** maximum biomass yield of LWLW rotation resulted in 2011/2012 growing ***,the effect of previous crop on wheat grain and biomass yield in the four years of the rotation study was significantly *** the long run,the favorable effects of legume-based rotations on crop yields and water productivity are apparent.

Effects of Pre-strain and Temperature on Bake Hardening of TWIP900CR Steel

The effects of pre-strain and baking temperature on bake hardening behaviour of TWIP900CR steel were investi- gated. The results reveal that the bake hardening process contributes to an increase in yield strength up to 65 MPa at the baking temperature of 200 ℃. The difference in yield strength between baking temperatures of 170 and 200 ℃ is al- most insignificant. It is clearly observed that baking at a high temperature does not result in a significant increase in yield strength. For a reasonable bake hardening, a good combination of pre strain and baking temperature is necessa- ry. Besides, the toughness of the material is found to decrease with increasing pre-strain.

Rare cause of ileus in the mesenteric cavity of terminal ileum:A report of three cases

Internal herniation is one of the rare reasons of intestineclog, which is hard to diagnose and usually needs anurgent surgical treatment. We report 3 patients withinternal herniation in the mesenteric cavity of theterminal ileum. Besides intestinal congestion, they alsohad peritoneal irritation. Laparotomy revealed thatherniation caused disorder in nutrition of the intestineand necrosis. The patients underwent subtotal smallintestine resection and were discharged 10, 12 and 14 dafter operation.

Three-to-one internal resonance in multiple stepped beam systems

In this study, the vibrations of multiple stepped beams with cubic nonlinearities are considered. A three-to-one internal resonance case is investigated for the system. A general approximate solution to the problem is found using the method of multiple scales （a perturbation technique）. The modulation equations of the amplitudes and the phases are derived for two modes. These equations are utilized to determine steady state solutions and their stabilities. It is assumed that the external forcing frequency is close to the lower frequency. For the numeric part of the study, the three-to-one ratio in natural frequencies is investigated. These values are observed to be between the first and second natural frequencies in the cases of the clamped-clamped and clamped-pinned supports, and between the second and third natural frequencies in the case of the pinned-pinned support. Finally, a numeric algorithm is used to solve the three-to-one internal resonance. The first mode is externally excited for the clamped-clamped and clamped-pinned supports, and the second mode is externally excited for the pinned-pinned support. Then, the amplitudes of the first and second modes are investigated when the first mode is externally excited. The amplitudes of the second and third modes are investigated when the second mode is externally excited. The force-response, damping-response, and .frequency- response curves are plotted for the internal resonance modes of vibrations. The stability analysis is carried out for these plots.

Psoriatic fasciitis in a pediatric patient: A case report

BACKGROUnD Diffuse fasciitis with psoriatic arthritis on magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) has not been previously described in childhood. Here we present the first case report of a pediatric patient developing fasciitis, beyond plantar fasciitis, with psoriatic *** SUMMARY An 11-year-old female was admitted with the complaints of psoriatic rash on the body associated with severe pain in the lower extremities and arthritis in the right knee. Psoriasis was confirmed by skin biopsy, she diagnosed with juvenile psoriatic arthritis. Diagnostic tests did not indicate any pathology except *** of the femur and tibia revealed that high-signal inflammatory changes in the subdermal fascia. These findings led to a diagnosis of psoriatic *** was given for 3 mo but the patient showed no response to therapy;therefore, etanercept was added. However, there was no response to *** was switched to adalimumab at the sixth month of therapy. Clinical improvement started with therapy of adalimumab within one month. Fasciitis finding in MRI disappeared at seventh months on adalimumab therapy. She has no complaint for two years with *** The most effective imaging method is MRI and adalimumab may be the best choice of treatment for psoriatic fasciitis.
