Cytoprotectivity of the natural honey against the toxic effects of Doxorubicin in mice

The protectivity of the natural honey has been assessed against the toxicity of Doxorubicin (DOX) in liver tissues of 106 male Albino mice Mus musculus strain weighing 37 ± 3 gm. The body and liver weights, morphological behavior changes, liver function and pathological effects on liver were recorded. Toxicity study of DOX showed that the LD50 and LD were 20 and 30 mg/Kg, respectively. Intra-peritoneal (i.p.) injection of DOX induced significant (p ≤ 0.01-0.001) pathological changes in the health, i.e. general weakness, a few morphological changes associated with bleedings, ulceration of skin, hair loss, dimorphism of limbs and bosselation. Daily ingestion of natural honey for seven weeks has led to significant (p ≤ 0.01-0.001) improvement of these symptoms which appeared as increases in both body and liver weights in comparison with control animals. The natural honey had enhanced the function of liver in treated animals with DOX + honey and reduced the pathological effects of DOX on the above morphological symptoms as well as in the hepatocytes. It is concluded that the ingestion of natural honey has a protective potency against the toxic effects of DOX.

Tyramine in Malt Beverages Interfering with Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitor Drugs

The objective of this review is the determination of tyramine in 13 nonalcoholic beers (Maoshaieer) of Tehran market and survey of it’s probably interaction with monoamine oxidase inhibitor drugs (MAOIs) has been investigated. Tyramine was at the highest levels in Baltika (111.34 ± 8.19 μg/ml) and at the lowest level in Bitmalt (8.01 ± 2.09 μg/ml). Comparing different flavors of malt drinks, the highest tyramine content was shown for classic or normal flavor (average 72.99 ± 30.87 μg/ml), while the lowest value belonged to cantaloupe flavored drinks (average 10.55 ± 1.29 μg/ml). In our study, it is seen that there is a significant difference between import and Iranian non-alcoholic beers, the import ones has more tyramine than Iranians. A number of 10 kinds of 13 samples interact whit MAOIs in one serving (250 ml) usage 18.50 mg. The highest tyramine content of Iranian ones is 17.74 mg/250ml and for import ones is 27.83 mg/250ml.

In this paper, a mobile assistance-system is described which supports users in performing manual working tasks in the context of assembling complex products. The assistance system contains a head-worn display for the visualization of information relevant for the workflow as well as a video camera to acquire the scene. This paper is focused on the interaction of the user with this system and describes work in progress and initial results from an industrial application scenario. We present image-based methods for robust recognition of static and dynamic hand gestures in realtime. These methods are used for an intuitive interaction with the assistance-system. The segmentation of the hand based on color information builds the basis of feature extraction for static and dynamic gestures. For the static gestures, the activation of particular sensitive regions in the camera image by the user’s hand is used for interaction. An HMM classifier is used to extract dynamic gestures depending on motion parameters determined based on the optical flow in the camera image.

The role of water in the formation of the first human habitats is a response to a biological need. But when above a need, home building and constructing residential complexes have a cultural meaning, architecture is emerged and water in human life has an artistic place and it is originated from the creativity of the artists and architects. Understanding the concept of water in architecture is understanding the concept of water architecture. Understanding the physical laws of water behavior is our emotions to the interaction of water and most importantly the role and allegory and its relationship with human life. Water is a paradoxical metaphor and along with soil, fire and air, consists of the four comprising elements of the universe. If someone asks us to define water, we say it is a colorless liquid which is the source of life, but is it really the definition of water in architecture and only in terms of the physical aspect, it is an interface between man and architecture? To answer this question, first we examine the available resources in this field and desk studies about the architectural spirit and then examine the water hidden side and the way it affects humans and architecture through descriptive-analytical method, so by contemplating in them, the question can also be answered. From the beginning, water was a vital element not only for the body but for the soul.

Determination of Iron in Baby Weaning Food and Powder Milk

Infant formula provides the largest, if not sole, source of nutrition for an extended interval;the nutritional adequacy of the formula must be confirmed and the indications for its use were well understood. Both iron deficiency and iron excess during the fetal and neonatal period bode poorly for developing organ systems. Voltammetry is analytical method based on current potential measurements in electrochemical cells. In this study the concentration of iron in four brands of powder milk and baby food (based on rice and based on wheat) was analyzed with DPASV and voltammeter device. Total Means ± SE of Iron in baby foods and powder milk (n = 40) were 8.55 ± 1.18 mg/100g, 5.21 ± 0.66 respectively. Iron level in baby food type I and II was lower than labeled value (p p < 0.05).

Bioadsorption of Cd (II) from Contaminated Water on Treated Sawdust: Adsorption Mechanism and Optimization

Sawdust (SD) a very low cost material has been utilized as adsorbent material for the removal of Cd (II) from aqueous solutions after treatment with mono methylol urea (MMU) in the presence of zinc chloride as a catalyst to form MMU-SD. The reaction of MMU-SD was carried out under different conditions including MMU/SD molar ratio, catalyst concentration, and reaction time and temperature. Adsorption studies have been carried out to determine the effect of agitation time, pH, adsorbent and adsorbate concentrations on the adsorption capacity of Cd (II) ions onto MMU-SD. Langmuir, Freundlich and Redlich-Peterson isotherm models were applied in the adsorption studies. The experimental data were analyzed using various sorption kinetic models. The removal processes of Cd (II) onto MMU-SD particles could be well described by the pseudo-second order model. The maximum adsorption capacity of Cd(II) onto MMU-SD was 909 mg/g. Similarly, the Freundlich constant 1/n value was 0.45.

Relationship between Changes in Functional Capacity and Anthropometric, Clinical and Psychological Indicators in Cardiac Patients Participating in Cardiac Rehabilitation Program

Background: Cardiac rehabilitation (CR) is a multifaceted treatment that can increase the survival and quality of life of cardiac patients by increasing their functional capacity (FC). In this study, we aimed to investigate the FC changes of cardiac patients after the CR program in different subgroups in terms of anthropometric, clinical, and psychological indices. Materials and Methods: This is a descriptive retrospective study that has been derived from the results of a Cohort study at the Rehabilitation Research Center of the Cardiovascular Research Institute of Isfahan (Iran), from 2006 to 2017. In this study, the dependent variable is functional capacity changes based on Mets obtained in exercise testing at the beginning and end of the CR program. Independent variables included age, sex, dyslipidemia, diabetes, smoking, and Body mass index, type of intervention, depression, and EF. Results: The sample size is 1250 cardiovascular patients, of which 917 (73.5%) are male and 331 (26.5%) are female. Functional capacity after the CR program significantly increased in all age, gender, body mass index, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, smoking, depression, EF, and type of operation performed (angioplasty or open-heart surgery) subgroups, (p Conclusion: The results of this study show the importance of rehabilitation programs in the secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease in different subgroups and factors such as gender, level of primary depression, and EF less than 35 are the most important factors affecting functional capacity increase after CR program in heart patients.

Association between Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) and Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) in Patients with Angina Pectoris

Background: Prevalence of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is increasing in Iranian population. The aim of this study was the investigation of association between nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and coronary artery disease (CAD) in patients with angina pectoris. Methods: 82 patients with confirmed CAD by coronary angiography and 82 individuals with normal coronary angiography, as the control group, were selected. Hepatic ultrasound scanning was performed in all the subjects to determinate the NAFLD. Data were analyzed by SPSS software and independent T-test and Chi-square tests. Results: Findings gathered from the patients with angina pectoris showed that the prevalence of NAFLD in CAD patients was higher than the control group. Grade of fatty liver and the portal vein size in CAD patients were significantly more than the control group. Conclusion: NAFLD is a risk factor of CAD in the angina pectoris patients. Increase in the prevalence of NAFLD can lead to the increase in cardiovascular diseases.
