Metabolite profiling and antidiabetic attributes of ultrasonicated leaf extracts of Conocarpus lancifolius

Objective:To profile the secondary metabolites and to evaluate the antidiabetic potential of hydroethanolic leaf extracts of Conocarpus ***:The various hydroethanolic extracts of Conocarpus lancifolius leaf were prepared by ultrasonication assisted *** phenolic contents,flavonoid contents,antioxidant activity,α-glucosidase andα-amylase inhibitions of leaf extracts were *** metabolite profiling was accomplished by UHPLC-Q-TOF-MS/MS *** antidiabetic assessment of the most potent extract was carried out by measuring the hypoglycemic and hypolipidemic effect in the high fat diet-fed diabetic albino *** blood glucose level,haemoglobin,total cholesterol,high-density lipoproteins(HDL)and low-density lipoproteins(LDL)were ***:The 60%ethanolic extract exhibited the highest phenolic and flavonoid contents of(349.39±2.13)mg GAE/g dry extract and(116.95±2.34)mg RE/g dry extracts,respectively,and the highest DPPH scavenging activity with an IC50 value of(32.87±1.11)μg/*** IC50 values forα-glucosidase andα-amylase inhibitions were(38.64±0.93)μg/mL and(44.80±1.57)μg/mL,***-Q-TOF-MS/MS analysis confirmed the presence of gallic acid,ellagic acid,corilagin,kaempherol-3-O-rutinoside,caffeic acid derivative,isorhamnetin and galloyl derivatives in the 60%ethanolic *** extract at a dose of 450 mg/kg body weight reduced blood glucose level,total cholesterol,LDL and HDL,and increased haemoglobin in alloxan-induced diabetic mice,Conclusions:Conocarpus lancifolius leaves are proved as a good source of biologically functional metabolites and possess antidiabetic activity which may be further explored to treat diabetes.

Here,we report the chemical composition of the volatile constituents of Pakistani cultivar of walnut using Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometery(GC-MS),and its antioxidant potential using 1,1-Dipheny1-2-picrylhydrazyl radical(DPPH) scavenging and phosphomolybdenum complex(PC) *** study revealed that Pakistani cultivar exhibited an adequate antioxidant potential having IC of 51.25±0.74μL/mL.

Reducing shoulder dislocation without anaesthesia or assistant:Validation of a new reduction manoeuvre

Purpose:Shoulder dislocation comprises 60%of all major joint dislocations worldwide and a number of reduction techniques are described in the literature w让h varying degrees of *** description of a large number of techniques speaks for itself that no method is effective all the times and one should be acquainted with more than one *** ideal method of reduction should be simple,easily reproducible,relatively painless that can be performed unassisted without sedation or anaesthesia w让h minimal or no further *** report our results of using a novel method of anterior shoulder reduction described recently in the literature that claims to fulfil most of the characteristics of an ideal method if not ***:This prospective study was conducted in a tertiary care *** the cases of primary anterior shoulder dislocation presenting within three days of injury without any associated fracture or spine trauma with or without greater tuberosity fracture were *** reduction was done using a novel method by orthopaedic residents in all *** need for a second reduction attempt or anaesthesia was considered a treatment *** taken for reduction,pain felt during reduction and complications if any were ***:There were 47(77.04%)males and 14(22.95%)females with a mean age of(37.04±12.63)*** new technique was effective in locating a shoulder dislocation on the first attempt in 58 of the 61 dislocated shoulders(95.08%).The remaining three shoulders were reduced on second attempt by the same ***,pre-medication or anaesthesia was not used in any *** average time taken for the shoulder reductio n was(130.5±25.8)sec onds and con fide nee interval(95%)124-137 *** complications were not seen in any of the ***:This relatively painless technique of shoulder reduction is easy to acquire and practice in emergency *** advantages of this manoeuvre and its associated safety

Summary：A multi-centred study was designed to collect dengue epidemiologic data from government and registered private hospitals/clinics and maintained archive of frozen specimens in bio-bank to be used for future dengue epidemic control program, and assess the epidemiology of dengue fever（DF） by evaluating biochemical and oxidative status of patients. ELISA Ig M antibodies test was done to confirm DF. From August 2010 to December 2011, 101 confirmed blood samples of DF patients referred to pathology lab of Jinnah Hospital Lahore were subjected to the epidemiologic assessment by evaluating the biochemical and physiological indices and alterations of circulating antioxidants. Clinical features of DF patients and effect of fever on blood components and serum proteins of liver were recorded. The hospital stay in DF, dengue hemorrhagic fever（DHF） and dengue shock syndrome（DSS） showed significant difference. Significant increases in serum alanine amino transferase（ALT）（P=0.000）, aspartate amino transferase（AST）（P=0.000）, alkaline phosphatase（ALP）（P=0.000）, malondialdehyde（MDA） along with significant decreases in total protein（TP）（P=0.000）, reduced glutathione（GSH）（P=0.000）, superoxide dismutase（SOD）, catalase（CAT）（P=0.000）, and sialic acid contents（P=0.016） were observed. A positive correlation existed between bound sialic acid levels, liver enzymes and circulating antioxidants（r=0.656, P=0.016）. In the present study, alterations of circulating antioxidants in DF suggest that DF might be a metabolic response to an acute, self-limiting tropical viral infection, and a consequence of the viral inflammatory process.
