Impact of dietary supplementation of b-hydroxybutyric acid on performance,nutrient digestibility,organ development and serum stress indicators in early-weaned goat kids

The objective of this study was to determine the effect of dietary supplementation of b-hydroxybutyric acid(BHBA)on performance,nutrient digestibility,organ development,and serum composition in earlyweaned goat ***-four goat kids at 30 d of age were assigned to 4 treatments in a completely randomized design:1)control(basal diet);2)low(basal diet with 3 g/d per animal BHBA);3)medium(basal diet with 6 g/d per animal BHBA;and 4)high(basal diet with 9 g/d per animal BHBA).Subsequently,48(6 kids per treatment)goat kids were randomly selected and slaughtered at 60 and 90 d of *** with the control group,BHBA at low and high doses increased body weight(Pmproved organ development,especially at the lowest dose(Pmatter and crude protein increased with age(Pm ceruloplasmin increased(Pm creatinine(Pme but was not affected by *** serum total antioxidant capacity and superoxide dismutase decreased with the high dose of BHBA at 90 d of age(Pm glutathione peroxidase and malondialdehyde increased with the high doses of BHBA(Pmance,organ development,and health status against weaning *** high doses of BHBA in the long term could negatively affect antioxidant status.

Influence of strong preformed particle gels on low permeable formations in mature reservoirs

In mature reservoirs,the success of preformed particle gel（PPG） treatment rests primarily on the ability of the PPG to reduce and/or plug the high permeable formations,but not damage the low permeable *** test models（filtration test model and pressure test model）were used to determine the effect of PPG on low permeable *** work used a strong preformed particle gel,Daqing（DQ） gel made by a Chinese *** particle gel sizes were ranged from 30 to 120 mesh for this *** are sized in a millimeter or micrometer,which can absorb over a hundred times their weight in *** gel strength was approximately 6500 Pa for a completely swollen PPG with 1 %（weight percentage） NaCl solution（brine）.0.05 %,1 %,and 10 % NaCl solutions were used in *** core permeability was measured before and after PPG *** relationship between cumulative filtration volumes versus filtration times was *** results indicate that DQ gels of a particle size of 30–80 mesh did not damage the cores of a low permeability of 3–25 m *** DQ gels of a smaller particle size ranging from 100 to 120 mesh damaged the core and a cake was formed on the core *** results also indicate that more damage occurred when a high load pressure（400 psi） was applied on the high permeability cores（290–310 m D）.The penetration of the particle gelsinto the low permeable formations can be decreased by the best selection of gel types,particle sizes,and brine concentrations.

Ion-acoustic waves in plasma of warm ions and isothermal electrons using time-fractional KdV equation

The ion-acoustic solitary wave in collisionless unmagnetized plasma consisting of warm ions-fluid and isothermal electrons is studied using the time fractional KdV equation. The reductive perturbation method has been employed to derive the Korteweg-de Vries equation for small but finite amplitude ion-acoustic wave in warm plasma. The Lagrangian of the time fractional KdV equation is used in a similar form to the Lagrangian of the regular KdV equation with fractional derivative for the time differentiation. The variation of the functional of this Lagrangian leads to the Euler-Lagrange equation that gives the time fractional KdV equation. The variational-iteration method is used to solve the derived time fractional KdV equation. The calculations of the solution are carried out for different values of the time fractional order. These calculations show that the time fractional can be used to modulate the electrostatic potential wave instead of adding a higher order dissipation term to the KdV equation. The results of the present investigation may be applicable to some plasma environments, such as the ionosphere plasma.

Role of the injected water salinity and ion concentrations on the oil recovery in carbonate reservoirs

Low salinity water flooding(LSWF)was initially considered using water with a low concentration of dissolved salts and was later extended to include modifying the ionic content of injected *** work investigates the effects of changing water salinity and composition along with the concentration of sulfate and iodide ions on oil recovery in carbonate reservoirs during the tertiary recovery *** experimental study was carried out using crude oil of 29°API,8 core samples extracted from the Eocene carbonate reservoir(Egypt),and 6 different water *** results showed additional oil recovery up to 5%of the original oil in place(OOIP)in the tertiary recovery stage with changing water salinity and water *** of high salinity(HS)and low salinity(LS)brines with high sulfate concentrations increased the incremental oil recovery by a value ranging from 1.7 to 3.8%of the *** the contrary,injection of HS and LS brines with low sulfate concentrations showed insignificant incremental oil recovery(less than 1%of the OOIP).Furthermore,injection of water with potassium iodide(KI)after injection of water with high sulfate brines showed additional oil recovery of about 1.7%of the *** the other hand,injection of water with KI after injection of water with low sulfate concentration showed insignificant incremental oil recovery(less than 0.4%of the OOIP).The concentration of sulfate in the injected water appeared to be key parameter to achieve effective waterflooding(WF)projects in carbonate ***,the results revealed that the multi-component ion exchange(mIE)mechanism seems to be the primary recovery mechanism for LSWF in carbonate *** results and conclusions of this study can be used to develop guidelines for designing waterflooding projects in carbonate reservoirs with optimum salinity.

New Ulva lactuca Algae Based Chitosan Bio-composites for Bioremediation of Cd(II)Ions

The current article covers the production of chitosan(CS)from shells of shrimp waste and its utilization in the preparation of eco-friendly imprinting and non-imprinting composites with Ulva lactuca algae(Alg).These bio-composites namely(Imp-Alg-25wt%CS)and(NImp-Alg-25wt%CS)were used for removal of Cd(II)*** transform infrared(FT-IR)spectra,scanning electron microscope(SEm)equipped with electron dispersive X-ray(EDX),X-ray diffraction(XRD),and elemental analysis measurements were performed to characterize these bio-composites *** highest adsorption of these sorbents towards Cd(II)ions was determined as a function of solutions pH,contact time,Cd(II)ion concentration,beads dose,and *** equilibrium experimental data were treated using various mathematical isotherm and kinetic models to approve the maximum bio-sorption capacities of NImp-Alg-25wt%CS and Imp-Alg-25wt%CS(in mg/g).The results exhibited that Imp-Alg-25wt%CS gave higher removal capacity than NImp-Alg-25wt%CS at the same optimum ***-2nd order dynamic and Langmuir isotherm models were well described in these biosorption ***,the removal behavior of Cd(II)using both bio-composites was spontaneous at room *** reusability of the sorbents,NImp-Alg-25wt%CS and Imp-Alg-25wt%CS,showed three *** addition,comparative study was also conducted for Cd(II)removal onto some reported sorbents.

A comparative study between friction stir processing and friction stir vibration processing to develop magnesium surface nanocomposites

Friction stir processing(FSP)can be used to improve surface *** this study,a modified method of FSP called friction stir vibration processing(FSVP)was applied to develop a surface composite on AZ91 magnesium *** this technique,the workpiece is vibrated normal to the processing *** results illustrated that compared with the FSP method,the FSVP caused a better homogeneous distribution of SiC particles in the *** results also showed that matrix grains of friction stir vibration processed(FSV-processed)samples((26.43±2.00)μm)were finer than those of friction stir processed(FS-processed)specimens((39.43±2.00)μm).The results indicated that the ultimate tensile strength(UTS)of FSV-processed specimens(361.82 mPa)was higher than that of FS-processed specimens(324.97 mPa).The higher plastic strain in the material during FSVP,due to workpiece vibration,resulted in higher dynamic recrystallization,and consequently,finer grains were *** elongation and formability index of the FSV-processed specimen(16.88%and 6107.52 mPa·%,respectively)were higher than those of the FS-processed sample(15.24%and 4952.54 mPa·%,respectively).moreover,the effects of FSVP were also found to intensify as the vibration frequency increased.

An adaptive neuro-fuzzy sliding mode controller for mImO systems with disturbance

This paper introduces the mathematical model of ammonia and urea reactors and suggested three methods for designing a special purpose controller. The first proposed method is Adaptive model predictive controller, the second is Adaptive Neural Network model Predictive Control, and the third is Adaptive neuro-fuzzy sliding mode controller. These methods are applied to a multivariable nonlinear system as an ammonia–urea reactor system. The main target of these controllers is to achieve stabilization of the outlet concentration of ammonia and urea, a stable reaction rate, an increase in the conversion of carbon monoxide(CO) into carbon dioxide(CO_2) to reduce the pollution effect, and an increase in the ammonia and urea productions, keeping the NH_3/CO_2 ratio equal to 3 to reduce the unreacted CO_2 and NH_3, and the two reactors' temperature in the suitable operating ranges due to the change in reactor parameters or external disturbance. Simulation results of the three controllers are compared. Comparative analysis proves the effectiveness of the suggested Adaptive neurofuzzy sliding mode controller than the two other controllers according to external disturbance and the change of parameters. moreover, the suggested methods when compared with other controllers in the literature show great success in overcoming the external disturbance and the change of parameters.

Deep Learning Approach for COVID-19 Detection in Computed Tomography Images

With the rapid spread of the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)worldwide,the establishment of an accurate and fast process to diagnose the disease is *** routine real-time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(rRT-PCR)test that is currently used does not provide such high accuracy or speed in the screening *** the good choices for an accurate and fast test to screen COVID-19 are deep learning *** this study,a new convolutional neural network(CNN)framework for COVID-19 detection using computed tomography(CT)images is *** EfficientNet architecture is applied as the backbone structure of the proposed network,in which feature maps with different scales are extracted from the input CT scan *** addition,atrous convolution at different rates is applied to these multi-scale feature maps to generate denser features,which facilitates in obtaining COVID-19 findings in CT scan *** proposed framework is also evaluated in this study using a public CT dataset containing 2482 CT scan images from patients of both classes(i.e.,COVID-19 and non-COVID-19).To augment the dataset using additional training examples,adversarial examples generation is *** proposed system validates its superiority over the state-of-the-art methods with values exceeding 99.10%in terms of several metrics,such as accuracy,precision,recall,and *** proposed system also exhibits good robustness,when it is trained using a small portion of data(20%),with an accuracy of 96.16%.

Investigating Supply Chain Integration Effects on Environmental Performance in the Jordanian Food Industry

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of supply chain integration on environmental performance of food manufacturing companies in Jordan. Data for this study were collected from one hundred and nineteen food companies. To answer the study questions, and to verify its hypotheses, descriptive statistical tools and linear regression tests were used. The study results indicated that supply chain integration positively affected environmental performance. Additionally, the results showed that supply chain integration positively affected environmental control and pollution management.
