Spinal accessory neuropathy in patients with chronic neck pain

AIM: To assess the presence of spinal accessory neuropathy in patients with chronic neck ***: Patients with pain either regional or focal in the neck or shoulders for at least 6 mo(chronic neck pain) were recruited randomly from the Rheumatology and Rehabilitation Outpatient Clinic at the Faculty of Medicine-Suez Canal University. Two groups were compared: 30 patients with chronic neck pain with mean age(36.97 ± 12.45 years) and 10 apparently healthy controls. Trapezius muscle examination including inspection and range of motion both active and passive was performed. A full clinical neurological examination was carried out to exclude peripheral neuropathy and motor neuron disease. According to the subject's type of work, cases were categorized into labor-intensive and non-labor intensive tasks. A nerve conduction study(NCS) was performed on spinal accessory nerves at both sides for all patients and controls. Parameters including latencies and amplitudes of compound motor action potential(CMAP) were compared with the chronicity of neck pain using the neck disability score. This cross sectional study was carried in the Rheumatology and Rehabilitation Department, at Suez Canal University Hospital, Ismailia, ***: Physical examination revealed that 80% of cases had spinal trapezius muscle spasm. Restricted neck motion was present in 16.6% of cases. No one suffered from muscle wasting or weakness. Pain was bilateral in 18 patients(60%), localized to the right side in six patients(20%) and localized to the left side in six patients(20%). The causes of neck pain in the patients studied were nonspecific, due to physical stresses, cervical spondylosis and mild cervical disc herniation. Mean disease duration in patients with labor-intensive tasks was(3.9 ± 2.1 years), which was longer than that in patients with non-labor intensive tasks(3.1 ± 1.9 years); however, this difference was statistically insignificant. The effects of CuCl_(2) and ZnCl_(2) on the viscosity in aqueous ethanol mixtures(10%–50%v/v)were studied in the concentration range 1.0×10^(–2)–8.0×10^(–2) mol·dm^(–3) at different *** was found that the viscosities increased with an increase in the concentration of the salts and percent composition of ethanol content,whereas it decreased with an increase in ***-ion and ion-solvent interactions are determined with the help of A-and B-coefficients of Jones-Dole *** values of A-and B-coefficients are irregular and increase with a rise in temperature and also with an increase in ethanol contents for both *** values of B-coefficients show that ion solvent interactions is comparatively small and suggest that CuCl_(2) and ZnCl_(2) behave as structure breakers in aqueous ethanol *** parameters like the energy of activation(eη)and change in entropy of activation(ΔS*)were also evaluated which confirm the structure breaker behavior of salts in aqueous ethanol mixtures.

Investigating the impact of Glyoxal retrieval from MAX-DOAS observations during haze and non-haze conditions in Beijing

This study presents the Multi Axis Differential Optical Absorption Spectroscopy(MAXDOAS) measurements for Glyoxal(CHOCHO) in Beijing, China(39.95°N, 116.32°e). CHOCHO is the smallest compound of di-carbonyl group. As a primary sink of CHOCHO, its photolysis with NOx(oxides of nitrogen) results in the production of tropospheric ozone. Therefore,the focus of CHOCHO DOAS measurements is increasing in trend. We did the measurements from 09 May 2017 to 09 September 2017. The study was conducted to compare different retrieval settings in order to reveal best DOAS fit settings for CHOCHO;furthermore, effect of haze and non-haze days on CHOCHO concentration was *** root mean square of residual and Differential Slant Column density(dSCD) error was reduced when measurements were done with lower wavelength limit around 432–438 nm and upper intervals around 455–460 nm. Thus, lower wavelength intervals around432–438 nm and upper intervals around 457–460 nm were best for the retrieval of dSCDs for CHOCHO. Meteorological conditions like haze or non-haze days did not have significant effect on DOAS fit parameters. The CHOCHO vertical column densities range from 1.33 e +14 to 9.77 e + 14 molecules/cm2 during the study period with average of 6.16 e +14 molecules/cm2. The results indicated that during haze days CHOCHO concentration was higher because of lower rate of photolysis and atmospheric oxidation potential. Our results did not show any significant weekend effect on CHOCHO atmospheric concentration.

Physico-chemical analysis and antimicrobial potential of Apis dorsata,Apis mellifera and Ziziphus jujube honey samples from Pakistan

The Nuée Ardentes of Sabalan Volcano in Iran

This article deals with the introduction and explanation of the two nuéeardentes of “Mue’el Valley” and “Shirvandareh Valley” which are one type of the pyroclastic flows of Sabalan volcano. One of the features of nuéeardente in these two valleys is the presence of large blocks in upstream of valley and the abundance of ash in downstream which it has happened in one stage in Mue’el and in several stages in Shirvandareh Valley. Considering the antiquity of the great Sabalan volcano and numerous changes that have happened during these long years in the region, determining the temperature of nuéeardente was impossible. But what could be mentioned as a sign of high temperature because of nuéeardente is the presence of rust ground mass on piece levels which indicate hot water steam (500°C to 600°C). Also puzzle breakings like those in these rocks should be the result of severe explosion blast and very fast movements of nuéeardente that has broken these rocks instantly. These nuéeardentes are peléan type and they are more or less synchronous, and the main reason could be the huge explosion which happened because of the second caldra’s subsidence. By comparing deposits of the two nuéeardentes of Mue’el Valley and Shirvandareh Valley, it is observed that the extent, thickness, and size of blocks are higher in Shirvandareh than those in Mue’el Valley. Also considering higher levels of pieces’ adherence and hardness of deposits, it can be concluded that the temperature of this complex was higher than that of Mue’el Valley, and in general the power of Shirvandareh’s nuéeardente is more than the Mue’el Valley’s.

This paper addresses the manipulation of structural,morphology,optical and magnetic properties of LiCo0.25Zn0.25Fe2 O4 ferrite via incorporation of different proportions of La^3+at the expense of iron ions using a sol-gel *** samples were characterized using the X-ray diffraction technique(XRD),Fourier transform infrared(FT-IR)spectroscopy,the energy dispersive X-ray spectra(eDX),inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy(ICP-OeS),high resolution scanning electron microscopy(SeM),Brunauer-emmett-Teller(BeT)surface area analysis,ultraviolet-diffuse reflectance spectroscopy(UV-DRS),and vibrating sample magnetometer(VSM)*** Rietveld refinements of the samples indicate that at higher concentrations of La^3+,nanostructures with dual phase,*** spinel and orthorhombic LaFeO3 perovskite with space group(Pbnm)*** studies show that the energy band gap(eg)of the bare LiCo0.25Zn0.25Fe2 O4 ferrite sample(2.18 eV)reaches up to 2.47 eV at x=0.06 and above this concentration,it drops sharply to 2.00 *** the saturation magnetization and the coercivity of LiCo0.25Zn0.25LaxFe2-xO4 are lower than that of LiCo0.25Zn0.25Fe2 O4 ***,the superparamagnetic nature and low values of saturation magnetization and coercivity of LiCo0.25Zn0.25LaxFe2-xO4 NPs are suitable to be applied in transformers core.

CLM4.5对中国区域夏季土壤湿度的模拟研究

利用CeSM （Community earth System Model）框架最新发布的陆面模式CLM4.5模拟得到中国区域1991～ 2010年7月份0～ 10 cm的土壤湿度数据集;并以中国农作物生长发育和农田土壤湿度旬值数据集的土壤湿度作为实测值,与模拟结果进行了比较分析.结果表明CLM4.5能够揭示中国区域7月份0～10 cm土壤湿度的空间分布特征,与实测数据土壤湿度的年际变化趋势保持着较好的一致性.利用曼-肯德尔法进行突变现象检测表明,模拟和实测得到的二十年的土壤湿度在华北、东北地区有逐年减小的趋势,尤其是东北地区土壤变干现象尤为明显;而华东、华中地区的土壤湿度以2～3年为周期增减,并没有一个持续稳定的变化趋势.CLM4.5模拟的土壤湿度值普遍偏高,最大偏差超过0.1 mm3＆#183;mm-3,这可能与模式的参数化方案有关,在以今后的研究中有待进一步探索.

北美地区下肢溃疡患者的接触性过敏研究

Objectives: (1) To determine the prevalence of allergen sensitivity in patients with past or present leg ulcers in 2 North American study centers vs european study findings and the North American Contact Dermatitis Group (NACDG) database and (2) to delineate a standard battery of allergens for patch testing in North American patients that is representative of the newer dressings and wound care products. Design: Fiftyfour patients, with or without dermatitis, were prospectively entered in the study. The patients were patch tested to the NACDG standard series and a comprehensive supplemental series of 52 allergens. Setting: Wound healing clinics at Boston University Roger Williams Medical Center and University of Ottawa. Results: Sixty-three percent (n=34) of patients had 1 or multiple positive patch test results, and 37%(n = 20) had no positive patch test result. The most common allergens were My roxylon pereirae (balsam of Peru) (30%), bacitracin (24%), fragrance mix (20%), wood tar mix (20%), propylene glycol (14%), neomycin sulfate (13%), benzalkonium chloride (13%), carba mix (11%), nickel sulfate (11%), and control gel hydrocolloid (11%). Conclusions: Comparable to european study findings, there is a high incidence of positive patch test results in patients with past or present leg ulcerations. The incidences of the most common allergens in our patient population were higher than those seen in the NACDG, except for nickel. Using a modified leg ulcer series along with the standard NACDG series is important in evaluating patients with leg ulcers.
