Pipelines, as means of transportation of water and hydrocarbon have been considered “effective, safe and reliable”. Over the years, pipeline failures in Niger Delta region of Nigeria have resulted in loss of lives, water pollution, soil contamination, air pollution, destruction of infrastructures and aquatic lives, and other losses. The study area, Niger Delta region is located on Latitude 4°50n>' 00"N, longitude 6°00n>'00"E and comprised of nine coastal states of Nigeria (about 70,000 km2). Failure data were collected using: Questionnaires administered to experienced pipeline engineers in the International oil and gas companies (IOCs), Personnel interviews, and reports from the Department of Petroleum Resources, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). This study assessed the strategies employed by four IOCs to mitigate pipeline failures in the process of asset integrity management. ＜正＞ Background and Goals: The aim of the study is to compare the effects of monitored anaesthesia care （MAC） with remifentanil versus general anaesthesia with propofol and alfentanil on in vitro fertilization （IVF） outcome. Material and Methods: Forty women, who underwent ultrasound transvaginal oocyte retrieval under either general anaesthesia with midazolam, alfentanil and propofol （group Ⅰ, n = 20） or under MAC with midazolam and remifentanil （group Ⅱ,n = 20） respectively, were compared for number of collected oocytes （CO）, matured oocytes （MO）, fertilization rate （FR）, cleavage rate （CR）, implantation rate （IR） and pregnancy rate （PR）. These preliminary data were analyzed using the AnOVA in SPSS （p ＜ 0.005）. Results: There were no significant differences in CO, MO, FR, CR, IR and PR between two groups （AnOVA）. Data （Mean ± SD, p） are shown in the table:Conclusions: MAC with remifentanil compared with general anaesthesia with propofol and alfentanil did not affect differently the IVF outcome.

有机酸积累和毒害是稻田秸秆还田中受到广泛关注的问题。本文以水稻与小麦秸秆为材料,采用淹水培养研究了甲酸、乙酸、丙酸及丁酸在土壤中的积累及其与秸秆碳氮比、氮肥添加量的关系。结果表明,在不施用氮肥的情况下,随秸秆用量的增加,秸秆处理的有机酸积累均显著增多。与稻秸处理相比,麦秸处理的有机酸(尤其是丙酸)积累量显著较高,土壤溶液中nH4+浓度显著较低。加入尿素明显减少有机酸积累,促进CH4排放,但对CO2的排放无显著影响;氮素的影响在麦秸处理中表现的尤为明显。上述结果说明麦秸的高碳氮比增加了无机氮的生物固定,抑制有机酸向CH4转化,从而导致麦秸处理有机酸积累量高于稻秸处理。施用氮肥是减少麦秸还田后有机酸积累的有效措施之一,但此措施将可能促进CH4的排放。

Kleiber’s Law or e = M3/4 is a mathematical expression known since 1932 that outlines the relationship between mass (biomass) and the use of energy. It is compelling because it supports a long standing observation that larger animals appear to use energy more efficiently than smaller ones. For example, an elephant’s weight is 200,000 times of a mouse, but uses only about 10,000 fold energy;thus a cat, having a mass of about 100 times of a mouse, only spends roughly 33 fold energy. In other words, the bigger you are, the less energy per gram of tissue you actually need to stay alive. Many facts pertaining to animal size call for a rational explanation. This paper takes into account that the fascinating relationship between mass and energy use for any living thing is governed strictly by a mathematical universal formula across all living species, operating in the tiniest of bacteria to the biggest of whales and sequoia tress. For the first time, we report a capacity for the mammal eukaryotic cell to split, break or dissociate water molecules through melanin. even though e = M3/4 was discovered eight decades ago, no proper satisfactory explanation exists. nevertheless, our multiyear detailed study on the “Human Photosynthesis” or first found in the human retina and later in all eukaryotic cells, may finally unravel this mystery, namely, the bigger you are the more surface area you have to absorb electromagnetic radiation and the more potential exists to use that electromagnetic radiation spectra to perform work. We propose a future application of this theory in the context of human diseases, especially age-related disorders, such as retinopathy, cerebrovascular and Alzheimer disease and these implications may not only foster a better understanding of the pathobiology of these devastating diseases but also develop much more effective therapies in the foreseeable future.

A high-flux circulating fluidized bed （CFB） riser （0.076-m I.D. and 10-m high） was operated in a wide range of operating conditions to study its chaotic dynamics, using FCC catalyst particles （dp= 67μm, ρp = 1500 kg·m^-3）. Local solids concentration fluctuations measured using a reflective-type fiber optic probe were processed to determine chaotic invariants （Kolmogorov entropy and correlation dimension）, Radial and axial profiles of the chaotic invariants at different operating conditions show that the core region exhibits higher values of the chaotic invariants than the wall region. Both invariants vary strongly with local mean solids concentration. The transition section of the riser exhibits more complex dynamics while the bottom and top sections exhibit a more uniform macroscopic and less-complex microscopic flow structure. Increasing gas velocity leads to more complex and less predictable solids concentration fluctuations, while increasing solids flux generally lowers complexity and increases predictability. Very high solids flux, however, was observed to increase the entropy.

1 Introduction Internal kink mode driven by the supra-thermal electrons is reported on DⅢ-D tokamak. This instability is most active when electron cyclotron current drive （eCCD） is applied on the high field side of the flux surface. It has a bursting behavior with poloidal/toroidal mode number=n/n=1/1. In positive magnetic shear plasma this mode becomes fishbone instability. The mode frequency is about 10 kHz. Strong m=1 MHD activities are also observed in HL-IM tokamak during off-axis electron cyclotron resonance heating （eCRH） when the cyclotron location is placed just outside the q= 1 flux surface at high field side .
