The behavior of a donor in the GaAs–GaAlAs quantum well wire represented by the Morse potential is examined within the framework of the effective-mass approximation. The donor binding energies are numerically calculated for with and without the electric and magnetic fields in order to show their influence on the binding energies. Moreover, how the donor binding energies change for the constant potential parameters(De, re, and a) as well as with the different values of the electric and magnetic field strengths is determined. It is found that the donor binding energy is highly dependent on the external electric and magnetic fields as well as parameters of the Morse potential.

Airborne particulate matter （PM） is of health and environmental concern not only in highly urbanized areas, but also in rural areas that are used for intensive agricultural purposes, In this study, PM size- segregated samples were collected simultaneously for 12 months in a small town （Belle Glade, Florida）, which is the center of a vast sugarcane growing area and at Delray Beach, a coastal city in Palm Beach County, Florida. During the winter sampling period, when sugarcane foliage is burned just before harvest- ing to reduce the amount of plant matter to be handled, PM10 levels were 50% or higher than otherwise measured, indicating that sugarcane harvesting and processing is a major local source for PM10. For the rest of the year, PM10 levels at both sites are similar, suggesting that ambient PM levels at both sites are impacted by the major urban centers in Southern Florida. During late July and early August, the PM10 levels at both sites were substantially elevated and revealed the typical red-brownish color of Saharan dust. This has been reported to occur frequently with suitable meteorological conditions over the Atlantic Ocean coupled with a Sahara dust storm event. During the sugarcane harvesting season at Belle Glade, the concentrations of PAHs associated with PM10 were up to 15 times higher than those measured during the summer growing season, indicating a substantially higher exposure of the rural population to these often mutagenic and carcinogenic compounds.

Silver has been used as an indirect antibacterial method by the food *** this study,the antibacterial effect of silver on raw milk was examined using the silver anode *** samples were divided into two groups comprising silver-containing and non-silver-containing ***,the two groups were stored at 5°C,10°C,and 25°*** changes in the bacterial flora of the raw milk samples were observed at hours 0,12,24,and *** antibacterial effect of the silver anode treatment on both groups was observed after 12 *** antibacterial effect increased with increasing storage *** decreases in the Pseudomonas spp.,coliform bacteria,and lactic acid bacteria counts of the silver-containing group were significantly different than those of the control group after 36 h(p<0.05).The decreases in the Pseudomonas *** coliform bacteria counts were greater than the decrease in the lactic acid bacteria *** Pseudomonas *** decreased during the storage period depending on temperature while the growth rates of coliform and lactic acid bacteria decreased with decreasing storage temperature in the silver anode-treated *** strongest antibacterial effect was observed at 25°C for Pseudomonas *** at 5°C for coliform and lactic acid *** results of the study revealed that the silver anode method had a strong antibacterial effect on Pseudomonas *** coliform bacteria and a poor antibacterial effect on lactic acid *** ion release into the milk samples was consistently below the legal limits at all storage temperatures.

Deformation modulus of a rock mass(E_m) is one of the most important design parameters in construction of rock engineering projects such as underground ***,difficulties are frequently encountered during in-situ tests which are also time-consuming and expensive for determining this *** E_m is often estimated indirectly from proposed equations by different researchers,many of these equations cannot be used in case of problematic rock conditions(thinly bedded,highly jointed rock masses,etc.) as high quality core samples are *** study aims to explore more practical and useful equation for E_m estimation using Rock Quality Designation(RQD) and point load index *** were made between available empirical equations and the proposed E_m equation in terms of the estimation *** comparison tests(ANOVA) showed that E_m can be reliably estimated using proposed equation especially at the preliminary stages of projects.

A formulation previously presented by the authors for coulomb integrals was generalized to other two-center integrals, except exchange integral. Within this frame, molecular integrals were expressed in terms of some new functions closely related to the well-known incomplete gamma functions and these functions recursively evaluated. Special issues arising in the case of hybrid integrals were addressed, and the results were compared with the ones found in the literature.

We apply the （G＇/G）-expansion method to solve two systems of nonlinear differential equations and construct traveling wave solutions expressed in terms of hyperbolic functions, trigonometric functions, and rational functions with arbitrary parameters. We highlight the power of the （G＇/G）-expansion method in providing generalized solitary wave solutions of different physical structures. It is shown that the （G＇/G）-expansion method is very effective and provides a powerful mathematical tool to solve nonlinear differential equation systems in mathematical physics.

The largest sugarcane-growing area in the United States is in South Florida. An estimated 7 million tons of dry sugarcane leafy biomass is removed from the fields before harvest by burning the leaves off the sugarcane stalks. Preharvest sugarcane leaf foliage burning is a major source of airborne particulate matter (PM), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), biogenic trace elements such as K, volatile hydrocarbons and other pollutants. In one harvesting period, approximately 22 million tons of C02, a greenhouse gas, is released, 7 million tons from leaf foliage preharvest burning alone and 15 million tons from burning sugarcane bagasse in the sugar mills for power generation. In this study, PMio was collected from Belle Glade, close to the sugarcane-growing area, and from Delray Beach, an urbanized area along the East Coast of Florida. The PM samples were analyzed for trace elements and close to organic compounds. To elucidate the importance of preharvest sugarcane biomass smoke emissions on air quality, 39 trace elements, 18 PAHs, and levoglucosan were selected to apportion ambient PM constituents. Al, Ca and to a great extend also Mg are the major soil-related trace elements and key markers for fugitive soil dust emissions. Similarly, sea salt aerosol blown from the Atlantic Ocean into Florida added appreciably to PMio trace elements concentration, especially Na and Cl. Approximately half of the sea salt aerosol (PMjo -portion) by mass is removed from the atmosphere during the transport of ocean air from Delray Beach to Belle Glade. Ambient acid displacement reactions caused a substantial portion of the Cl (30%) to be liberated from the sea salt aerosol to the atmosphere during transport as gaseous HC1. The PAH concentrations at Belle Glade were high when the biomass combustion markers levoglucosan and I< also showed the highest concentrations. BACKGROUND Although the number of patients who need central venous ports for permanent vascular access is increasing,there is still no“gold standard”for the implantation *** To identify the implantation technique that should be *** Two hundred central venous port-implanted patients in a tertiary hospital were retrospectively *** were assigned into two groups according to the access *** first group comprised patients whose jugular veins were used,and the second group comprised patients whose subclavian veins were *** were evaluated regarding age,sex,application side,primary diagnosis,active follow-up period in the hospital,chemotherapy agents administered,number of complications,and the Clavien-Dindo severity *** distribution of the variables was tested with the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test and the Mann-Whitney U ***χ^(2) test was used to analyze the *** There was no statistically significant difference between the groups regarding age,sex,side,number of chemotherapy drugs,and duration of port usage(P>0.05).Only 2 patients in group 1 had complications,whereas in group 2 we observed 19 patients with complications(P<0.05).No port occlusion was found in group 1,but the catheters of 4 patients were occluded in group *** port was infected in group 1 compared to three infected ports in group *** port ruptures,two pneumothorax,one revision due to a mechanical problem,one tachyarrhythmia during implantation,and four suture line problems were also recorded in group 2 *** also showed that it would be sufficient to evaluate and wash ports once every 2 *** Our results robustly confirm that the jugular vein route is safer than the subclavian vein approach for central venous port implantation.

We calculate the energy eigenvalues and the sate functions of one-electron Quantum Dot （QD） by using a combination of Quantum Genetic Algorithm （QGA） and Hartre-Fock-Roothaan （HFR） method. The linear and the third-order nonlinear optical absorption coefficients for the 1s-1p, 1p-1d, and 1d-1f transitions are examined as a function of the incident photon energy for three different values of the stoichiometric ratio. The results show that the stoichiometric ratio, impurity, relaxation time, and dot size have great influence on the optical absorption coefficients of QDs.
