Irsogladine maleate and rabeprazole in non-erosive reflux disease: A double-blind, placebo-controlled study

AIM:To evaluate the efficacy of adding irsogladine maleate(IM) to proton-pump inhibitor(PPI) therapy in non-erosive reflux disease(NERD) ***:One hundred patients with NERD were recruited and randomized to receive rabeprazole plus IM(group I) or rabeprazole plus placebo(group P).The efficacy of the treatment was assessed using the Frequency Scale for the Symptoms of Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease(FSSG) and the short form(SF)-36 quality of life questionnaires after four weeks of *** also assessed whether patients with NERD with minimal changes(grade M) had different responses to the therapies compared with patients who did not have minimal changes(grade N).RESULTS:Group I and group P showed significant improvements in their FSSG scores after the treatment(from 17.9 ± 7.9 to 9.0 ± 7.6, and from 17.7 ± 7.3 to 11.2 ± 7.9, respectively, P = 0.0001), but there was no statistically significant difference between the FSSG scores in group I and those in group *** analysis showed that significant improvements in the FSSG scores occurred in the patients in group I who had NERD grade N(modified Los Angeles classification)(7.8 ± 7.4 vs 12.5 ± 9.8, P = 0.041).The SF-36 scores for patients with NERD grade N who had received IM and rabeprazole were significantly improved in relation to their vitality and mental health ***:The addition of IM to rabeprazole significantly improves gastroesophageal reflux diseasesymptoms and the quality of the lives of patients with NERD grade N.

Background and Aim: Toll-like receptor (TLR) 2 and TLR4 are cell surface signaling receptors that are involved in the recognition of and host response to Helicobacter pylori. Our aim was to investigate the association between TLR gene polymorphisms and susceptibility of Japanese subjects to 4 H. pylori-related gastrointestinal diseases. Methodology: A total of 100 patients with histologically diagnosed gastric cancer, 105 patients with gastric ulcer, 102 with atrophic gastritis, 72 with duodenal ulcer and 428 healthy controls were recruited. A TaqMan assay was used to genotype 7 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in TLR2 and 6 SNPs in TLR4. Results: There was a tendency for TLR4 rs10759932 TC/CC genotypes to be associated with a decreased risk of gastric cancer (p = 0.059);however, this did not reach statistical significance. No significant associations were found between polymorphisms in TLR2 or TLR4 and the risks for gastric cancer, gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer, or atrophic gastritis. Conclusion: The 13 SNPs inTLR2 and TLR4 examined in this study may not be linked with the development of H. pylori-related gastrointestinal diseases. Further studies with larger numbers of subjects are necessary to verify the present findings.

Ground-level ozone(O_(3)) is a widespread air pollutant causing extensive injuries in ***,its effects on perennial energy crops remain poorly under-stood due to technical difficulties in cultivating fast-growing shrubs for biomass production under O_(3) treatment on the *** we present the results of a two-year evaluation in the framework of which willow(Salix sachalinensis ***)shrubs were exposed to ambient(AOZ)or elevated(EOZ)O_(3) in two successive growing seasons(2014,2015)and treated with 0(EDU0)or 400 mg L^(−1)(EDU400)eth-ylenediurea spray in the second growing *** 2014,EOZ altered the chemical composition of both top young and fallen leaves,and a novel mechanism of decreasing Mg in fallen leaves while highly enriching it in young top leaves was revealed in shrubs exposed to *** 2015,EDU400 alleviated EOZ-induced decreases in leaf fresh mass to dry mass ratio(FM/DM)and leaf mass per area(LMA).While EDU400 protected against EOZ-induced suppression of the maximum rate at which leaves can fix carbon(A_(max))in O_(3)-asymptomatic leaves,it did not alle-viate EOZ-induced suppression of the maximum rates of carboxylation(VCmax)and electron transport(J_(max))and chlorophylls a,b,and a+b in the same type of *** O_(3)-symptomatic leaves,however,EDU400 alleviated EOZ-induced suppression of chlorophylls a and a+b,indicating different mode of action of EDU between O_(3)-asymptomatic and O_(3)-symptomatic *** herbivory occurred only in AOZ-exposed plants,leading to suppressed biomass production,while EOZ also led to a similar suppression of biomass production(EDU0×EOZ ***400×EOZ).In 2016,carry-over effects were also evaluated following cropping and transplantation into new ambient *** of EOZ in the preceding growing seasons extended to the third growing season in the form of suppressed ratoon biomass production,indicating carry-over effect of *** EDU400 protected against EOZ-induced suppression of biom

Partial oxidation of cyclohexane into cyclohexanone and cyclohexanol(KA-oil)is an industrially significant reaction for producing precursors for the synthesis ofε-caprolactam and adipic acid,which are the building blocks of ***,to date,the cyclohexane conversion ratio has usually been limited to less than 6%to prevent further oxidation of the cyclohexanol and cyclohexanone *** this study,we report that Pt/CeO_(2)-ZrO_(2)-SnO_(2)/SiO_(2),in which CeO2-ZrO2-SnO2 provide reactive oxygen molecules from inside the bulk,can act as efficient *** of the catalyst composition and reaction conditions provided a cyclohexane conversion ratio of 24.1%and a total selectivity for cyclohexanol and cyclohexanone of 83.4%at 130℃in 0.5 MPa(4.9 atm)air for 7 h over a 5wt%Pt/16wt%Ce_(0.68)Zr_(0.17)Sn_(0.15)O_(2.0)/SiO_(2)*** catalyst has significant advantages over conventional catalysts because the reaction proceeds at a lower pressure,and there is no need for toxic radical initiators or free-radical scavengers.

Novel environmentally friendly inorganic red pigments based on calcium bismuth oxide Ca3(Bi1-xREx)8O15(0≤x≤0.09;RE=Sc^(3+),Er^(3+),Y^(3+),Ho^(3+)and Dy^(3+)),were successfully synthesized and the color properties were *** color of these pigments depended on the composition and the synthesis condition,and the most vivid red color was obtained for the Ca3(Bi0.93Y0.07)8O15 sample calcined thrice at 800℃for 2 *** L*and a*values corresponding to brightness and red chromaticity for this pigment were 45.6 and+30.6,respectively,which were greater than those of a commercially available Fe2O3 pigment(L^(*)=38.4,a^(*)=+29.5).Since the present pigment is composed of nontoxic and safe elements,it should be an attractive alternative to the conventional Fe2O3 pigment.

Pt/CeO2–ZrO2–SnO2/γ-Al2O3 catalysts were prepared by co-precipitation and wet impregnation methods for catalytic oxidation of acetaldehyde to acetic acid in water. In the present catalysts, Pt and CeO2–ZrO2–SnO2 were successfully dispersed on the γ-Al2O3 *** of platinum content and reaction time on the selective oxidation of acetaldehyde to acetic acid were investigated to optimize the reaction conditions for obtaining both high acetaldehyde conversion and highest selectivity to acetic acid. Among the catalysts, a Pt（6.4 wt.%）/Ce0.68Zr0.17Sn0.15O2.0（16 wt.%）/γ-Al2O3 catalyst showed the highest acetaldehyde oxidation activity. On this catalyst, acetaldehyde was completely oxidized after the reaction at 0°C for 8 hr, and the selectivity to acetic acid reached to 95%and higher after the reaction for 4 hr and longer.
