Objective: To present the molecular characterization of Cysticercus tenuicollis(C. tenuicollis) of Taenia hydatigena(T. hydatigena) from livestock isolates in Egypt, and to introduce a detailed image of C. tenuicollis infection in ruminant animals in Upper ***: The prevalence rates of C. tenuicollis infections among the slaughtered animals from different organs were determined using the amplification of sequencing of the MT-CO1 ***: In the present study the infection rates of C. tenuicollis were found to be 16%and 19% in sheep and goat samples respectively. Firstly we report one larval stage of T. hydatigena detected in the camel liver in Egypt. C. tenuicollis infection manifested a higher prevalence in females than in males. Those above two years of age manifested a higher infection rate than younger animals. The preferred site for the infection was the omentum: a 70% preference in sheep and a 68% preference in goats. The molecular characterization using the MT-CO1 gene of isolates from sheep, goats and camels corresponded to T. hydatigena. For this study, molecular characterizations of T. hydatigena were done for the first time in Egypt. Molecular tools are of great assistance in characterizing the C. tenuicollis parasite especially when the morphological character cannot be detected, because the metacestodes are frequently confused with infection by the hydatid cyst, especially when these occur in the visceral organs. In the present study,C. tenuicollis manifested high identity in the goat and sheep samples, while differences were found more frequently in the camel samples(10 base pair).Conclusions: Clearly molecular diagnosis for C. tenuicollis infection significantly helps to differentiate it from such other metacestodes as hydatidosis, which manifests a completely different pathogenicity and requires different control programs.

The objective of this investigation is to assess the effect of obstacles on numerical heat transfer and fluid flow momentum in a rectangular microchannel(MC).Two distinct configurations were studied:one without obstacles and the other with alternating obstacles placed on the upper and lower *** research utilized the thermal lattice Boltzmann method(LBM),which solves the energy and momentum equations of fluids with the BGK approximation,implemented in a Python coding *** jump and slip velocity conditions were utilized in the simulation for the MC and extended to all obstacle *** study aims to analyze the rarefaction effect,with Knudsen numbers(Kn)of 0.012,0.02,and *** outcomes indicate that rarefaction has a significant impact on the velocity and temperature *** presence of nine obstacles led to slower fluid movement inside the microchannel MC,resulting in faster cooling at the *** MCs with obstacles,the rarefaction effect plays a crucial role in decreasing the Nusselt number(Nu)and skin friction coefficient(Cf).Furthermore,the study demonstrated that the obstacles played a crucial role in boosting fluid flow and heat transfer in the *** findings suggest that the examined configurations could have potential applications as cooling technologies in micro-electro-mechanical systems and microdevice applications.

In recent years, the accuracy of speech recognition (SR) has been one of the most active areas of research. Despite that SR systems are working reasonably well in quiet conditions, they still suffer severe performance degradation in noisy conditions or distorted channels. It is necessary to search for more robust feature extraction methods to gain better performance in adverse conditions. This paper investigates the performance of conventional and new hybrid speech feature extraction algorithms of Mel Frequency Cepstrum Coefficient (MFCC), Linear Prediction Coding Coefficient (LPCC), perceptual linear production (PLP), and RASTA-PLP in noisy conditions through using multivariate Hidden Markov Model (HMM) classifier. The behavior of the proposal system is evaluated using TIDIGIT human voice dataset corpora, recorded from 208 different adult speakers in both training and testing process. The theoretical basis for speech processing and classifier procedures were presented, and the recognition results were obtained based on word recognition rate.

Evaluation of Male Sexual Dysfunction Associated with Laparoscopic versus Open Resection in Rectal Cancer in Different Age Groups

Background and goals Sexual dysfunction is a well-documented complication of rectal cancer surgery, with a reported incidence of 18% - 59%. The objective of this study is to evaluate the incidence of sexual dysfunction (SD) in males after radical resection for rectal cancer and to compare the outcome of open versus laparoscopic rectal resection for different age groups. Patients and methods This prospective randomized study assessed outcomes in male patients that underwent rectal resection for rectal cancer from January 2012 until March 2015 at two large tertiary hospitals in Cairo, Egypt. The patients were randomly allocated into two groups (laparoscopic and open technique) of 40 patients each using the odd number policy for patient allocation. Patients included in each group were further subdivided into two groups according to the type of rectal resection either anterior resection (AR) or abdominoperineal resection (APR). Erectile function was evaluated preoperatively and postoperatively at 3 and 6 months using the International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF) questionnaire. Results There was no significant difference between the laparoscopic and open total mesorectal excision (TME) groups when comparing IIEF score preoperatively. At 3 months postoperatively, the laparoscopic arm showed better results over the open arm (abnormal IIEF in 57.5% vs. 67.5%). The study demonstrated dramatic improvement in SD in both groups at 6 months postoperatively (abnormal IIEF score of 40% in the laparoscopic vs. 42.5% in the open arm) with no significant difference in IIEF score between the two groups (p-value 0.876). At 3 and 6 months postoperatively, younger patients showed significant improvement in SD compared to older patients in both groups with more significant improvement in the laparoscopic group (16.7% vs. 40%). Purpose: Injury continues to be an important cause of morbidity and mortality in both developed and developing countries. Globally, it is responsible for approximately 5.8 million deaths per year and 91% of these deaths occur in developing countries. Road traffic collision, suicides and homicides are the leading cause of traumatic deaths. Despite the fact that traumatic chest injury is being responsible for 10% of all trauma-related hospital admissions and 25% of trauma-related deaths across the world including in Ethiopia, only few published studies showed the burden of traumatic chest injury in Ethiopia. So, this study aims at assessing the characteristics and outcome of traumatic chest injury patients visited Tikur Anbesa Specialized Hospital (TASH) over one year ***: A single center based retrospective study was done. We collected data from patients’ records to assess characteristics and outcome of traumatic chest injury at TASH over one year period. All patients diagnosed with traumatic chest injury and received treatment at the hospital from January 1 to December 31, 2016 regardless of its types and severity levels were included in the study. Patients with incomplete medical records for at least 20% of the study variables and without detailed medical history, or patients died before receiving any health care were excluded from the study. The collected data were cleaned and entered into Epidata version 3.1 and exported to SPSS Version 21.0 for analysis. Bivariate and multivariate logistic regression models were used to examine factors associated with outcome of trau- matic chest injury ***: A total of 192 chest injury patients were included in the study and about one-fourth of chest injury victims were died during treatment period in TASH. 结构受力构件在偶遇或意外荷载作用下失效引起周边甚至整体结构的连锁失效反应被称为连续倒塌。比如在框架结构中,一旦承重柱由于地震、车辆撞击、火灾或其他自然或人为危害而被削弱或失去承载能力,该柱所承担的荷载将转移到相邻柱上。如果相邻柱在设计过程中没有充分考虑荷载重分布或具备承担额外荷载能力,则该构件也将失去其承载能力,竖向荷载将导致相邻构件相继失效直到达到平衡并稳定为止。因此,连续倒塌现象将导致结构出现大面积破坏,并最终可能摧毁整个结构。目前,现有文献对结构抗连续倒塌机理已积累了一定的研究成果。但对于多柱移除情况下的混凝土（RC）框架结构连续倒塌性能还尚未明确。因此,本研究将针对单柱和多柱失效情况下RC框架结构的抗连续倒塌能力进行数值研究,通过分析其需求承载比系数,揭示不同框架柱失效可能带来的结构连续倒塌风险程度,并提出设计中需要着重考虑的关键柱位置。论文首先对各国连续倒塌设计规范、典型事件、设计方法和策略进行系统综述和比较,提出各国设计规范的异同点。然后以一栋8层RC框架结构作为研究对象,考虑第一层和第二层不同位置处移除单柱和多根柱共10个不同情形,根据美国ACI318规范进行荷载取值,并按照GSA关于连续倒塌设计指南对荷载进行组合,考虑框架的实际几何与材料特性,建立有限元数值仿真模型,通过与文献结果比较,对建立的数值模型进行有效性验证,分析框架结构中梁、柱内力及承载需求与承载能力比（需求承载比）。基于失效柱周边构件内力和承载力结果分析,以上10种情形的需求承载比都超过2,即结构都有连续倒塌的风险。研究发现移除底层柱比上层柱更容易引起结构的连续倒塌。在单柱移除情况下,角柱移除将导致结构出现最不利承载情况,这是因为角柱移除情形下水平和转角约束不足,影响悬链线效应充分发展。在多柱移除情况下,同时移除外柱和内柱将导致结构出现最不利承载情况。本文结果建议,在RC框架结构设计中,从抗连续倒塌需求考虑,角柱需要进行加强设计或者通过配拉结筋提高其水平和转角的约束,从而发展悬链线效应,提升框架的抗连续倒塌能力。
