Ambient BackCom in beyond 5G NOMA networks: A multi-cell resource allocation framework

The research of Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) is extensively used to improve the capacity of networks beyond the fifth-generation. The recent merger of NOMA with ambient Backscatter Communication (BackCom), though opening new possibilities for massive connectivity, poses several challenges in dense wireless networks. One such challenge is the performance degradation of ambient BackCom in multi-cell NOMA networks under the effect of inter-cell interference. Driven by providing an efficient solution to the issue, this article proposes a new resource allocation framework that uses a duality theory approach. Specifically, the sum rate of the multi-cell network with backscatter tags and NOMA user equipment is maximized by formulating a joint optimization problem. To find the efficient base station transmit power and backscatter reflection coefficient in each cell, the original problem is first divided into two subproblems, and then the closed form solution is derived. A comparison with the Orthogonal Multiple Access (OMA) ambient BackCom and pure NOMA transmission has been provided. Simulation results of the proposed NOMA ambient BackCom indicate a significant improvement over the OMA ambient BackCom and pure NOMA in terms of sum-rate gains.

Validation of an epilepsy management smartphone application in Pakistan

Background:There is no single way to improve epilepsy care in low-and middle-income countries(LMICs).An epilepsy management aid application(app)has been described,which enables a non-physician health worker(NPHW)to communicate with an epilepsy specialist using a *** this study,we aimed to assess the validity and quality of this care system in building connections between NPHWs and specialists in Pakistan and the ***:A NPHW in Pakistan used the app on a series of referrals and sent the app-generated summary by email to a neurologist in the UK,who replied and suggested possible *** were later seen in a face-to-face(FF)manner by the UK neurologist and a local neurologist,and diagnostic accuracy and quality parameters were ***:Over 10 months,59 patients were recruited and 33 of them were available for FF *** misdiagnosis rate of the app was 6%(2 cases).Treatment advice provided by the app was judged appropriate in 32 patients(97%).In addition,46%of the referrals were completed within 2h and 85%within ***:Consistent with an earlier study,this system is a safe method to provide care for patients who cannot access neurological services in *** addition,it has advantage of timeliness compared to FF assessment and requires less specialist time,both of which are especially important during the coronavirus disease 2019 *** system can be generalised easily,depending on the willingness of referrers and specialists to use it.

Guava is one of the most important fruits in Pakistan,and is gradually boosting the economy of *** production can be interrupted due to different diseases,such as anthracnose,algal spot,fruit fly,styler end rot and *** diseases are usually detected and identified by visual observation,thus automatic detection is required to assist *** this research,a new technique was created to detect guava plant diseases using image processing techniques and computer *** automated system is developed to support farmers to identify major diseases in *** collected healthy and unhealthy images of different guava diseases from the *** image labeling was done with the help of an expert to differentiate between healthy and unhealthy *** local binary pattern(LBP)was used for the extraction of features,and principal component analysis(PCA)was used for dimensionality *** classification was carried out using multiple classifiers,including cubic support vector machine,Fine K-nearest neighbor(F-KNN),Bagged Tree and RUSBoosted Tree algorithms and achieved 100%accuracy for the diagnosis of fruit flies disease using Bagged ***,the findings indicated that cubic support vector machines(C-SVM)was the best classifier for all guava disease mentioned in the dataset.

Copy-move forgery is the most common type of digital image manipulation,in which the content from the same image is used to forge *** manipulations are performed to hide the desired ***,forgery detection methods are required to identify forged *** have introduced a novel method for features computation by employing a circular block-based method through local tetra pattern(LTrP)features to detect the single and multiple copy-move attacks from the *** proposed method is applied over the circular blocks to efficiently and effectively deal with the post-processing *** also uses discrete wavelet transform(DWT)for dimension *** obtained approximate image is distributed into circular blocks on which the LTrP algorithm is employed to calculate the feature vector as the LTrP provides detailed information about the image content by utilizing the direction-based relation of central pixel to its ***,Jeffreys and Matusita distance is used for similarity *** the evaluation of the results,three datasets are used,namely MICC-F220,MICC-F2000,and *** the qualitative and quantitative analysis shows that the proposed method exhibits state-of-the-art performance under the presence of post-processing operations and can accurately locate single and multiple copy-move forgery attacks on the images.

Magnetohydrodynamic peristaltic flow of Jeffery fluid in an asymmetric channel is addressed. The channel walls satisfy the convective conditions. Asymmetry here is con- sidered due to wave trains of different amplitudes and phases. Solutions for the velocity, temperature and pressure gradient are obtained using long wavelength approximation. Plots reflecting the impact of various parameters of interest are shown and examined.

Achieving strength-ductility synergy in cold spray additively manufactured Al/B4C composites through a hybrid post-deposition treatment

Cold spray additive manufacturing(CSAM) provides a potential solid state manufacturing route to fabricate variety of aluminum matrix composites(AMCs) with reduced possibility of undesired chemical reactions and residual thermal stresses. This study presents a hybrid(i.e. hot compression + hot rolling)post-deposition treatment to reinvigorate the mechanical properties of cold spray additively manufactured Al/B4 C composites. The as-deposited samples were initially subjected to 30% thickness reduction via hot compression treatment at 500°C followed by a hot rolling treatment with 40% thickness reduction in 2 passes. Electron backscatter diffraction(EBSD) and high resolution transmission electron microscopy(HRTEM) results revealed that after hybrid post-deposition treatment(involving 70%accumulative thickness reduction), the aluminum grains in the matrix were extensively refined due to simultaneous operation of continuous dynamic recrystallization(CDRX) and geometric dynamic recrystallization(GDRX). Furthermore, interfacial defects were remarkably reduced while the nature of Al/Al and Al/B4C interfacial bonding was changed from sheer mechanical interlocking to metallurgical bonding which facilitated efficient transference of applied load to uniformly dispersed bimodal B4C particles. As a result, ultimate tensile strength(UTS) and elongation(EL) of the as-deposited sample were simultaneously improved from 37 to 185 MPa and 0.3% to 6.2%, respectively.
