Road traffic accident(RTA)casualties in Sudan are among the major causes of death in the age group of 21 to *** 61%*** fatality rate of 35 per 10,000 vehicles is among the highest in the world despite the low car ownership of 1 vehicle to 100 *** paper presents accident characteristics and considers road safety *** issues discussed in the paper include prediction and safety *** paper applies Artificial Neural Network(ANN)and regression techniques to comparatively predict traffic accident *** approaches modeled accident casualties using historical data on population,number of registered cars and other related factors from 1991 to *** of predictions with recorded data was very *** during 2010-2014 were determined using projected values for the same predictor *** forecasts provided the best fit for the data with a maximum difference of 1.84%between predictions and observed *** study demonstrated that ANNs provide a powerful tool for analysis and prediction of accident *** major causes of accidents were attributed to driver behaviour,vehicle fleet and conditions,road network defects,speed-limit violation,negligence of seat-belt usage and lack of traffic-law enforcement.

We investigate the thermodynamics properties of mesoscopic quantum nanowire devices, such as the effect of electron-phonon relaxation time, Peltier coefficient, carrier concentration, frequency of this field, and channel width. The influence of time-varying fields on the transport through such device has been taken into consideration. This device is modelled as nanowires connecting to two reservoirs. The two-dimensional electron gas in a GaAs- AlGaAs heterojunction has a Fermi wave length which is a hundred times larger than that in a metal. The results show the oscillatory behaviour of dependence of the thermo power on frequency of the induced field. These results agree with the existing experiments and may be important for electronic nanodevices.

Thermal shot noise, thermal voltage and thermo power are studied through a carbon nanotube quantum dot coupled to two leads with random roughness of amplitude on each of the two boundaries, under the effect of microwave field, and magnetic field. The expressions for the thermal shot noise and thermal energy are deduced when the barrier strength and contact area are taken into consideration. A model for such mesoscopic devices is proposed as a carbon nanotube quantum dot coupled to two leads with random roughness of amplitude on each of the two boundaries. The results show oscillatory behaviors of the dependence of the thermal shot noise on the studied parameters. The thermopower oscillates with the variation of the contact area, and the peak heights decrease linearly with the contact area and increases with temperature. This trend of behavior is due to the interplay of the induced microwave photons and the tunneling rate through the side bands. This research is important for using a model as a high-frequency shot noise detector and the thermopower is sensitive to the energy dependence of the conductance.

This study focuses on the dynamics of drug concentration in the *** general,the concentration level of a drug in the blood is evaluated by themean of an ordinary and first-order differential *** precisely,it is solved through an initial value *** proposed a newmodeling technique for studying drug concentration in blood *** technique is based on two fractional derivatives,namely,Caputo and Caputo-Fabrizio *** first provided comprehensive and detailed proof of the existence of at least one solution to the problem;we later proved the uniqueness of the existing *** proof was written using the Caputo-Fabrizio fractional derivative and some fixed-point *** via theUlam-Hyers(UH)technique was also *** application of the proposedmodel on two real data sets revealed that the Caputo derivative wasmore suitable in this ***,for the first data set,the model based on the Caputo derivative yielded a Mean Squared Error(MSE)of 0.03095 with a corresponding best value of fractional order of derivative of ***-Fabrizio-basedderivative appeared to be the second-best method for the problem,with an MSE of 0.04324 for a corresponding best fractional derivative order of *** the second experiment,Caputo derivative-based model still performed the best as it yielded an MSE of 0.04066,whereas the classical and the Caputo-Fabrizio methods were tied with the same MSE of *** interesting finding was that the MSE yielded by the Caputo-Fabrizio fractional derivative coincided with the MSE obtained from the classical approach.

The expanding cost of ordinary fuel in urban zones requires the investigation of other vitality *** exploitation of agricultural wastes for biogas production could protect our environment and can also solve emerging energy crises *** chrysosporium,Trichoderma virdie and Trichoderma harzianum were used to ferment rice straw and cattle dung for production of compost and *** yield was determined using displacement technique,using acidified water(1 N H_(2)SO_(4))to prevent solubilization of carbon dioxide contained in the *** results showed that the highest rate of biogas and methane were recorded with treated rice straw mixed with cattle dung where the amount of production from the total gas was 51.84 of biogas and 37.86 of methane per Liter(L)/Kilogram(Kg)of fermented ***,the results showed that the consumed biogas and methane related to volatile solids gave the highest amount with untreated rice straw(86.32 and 56.72 L/Kg respectively)followed by treated rice straw and untreated and treated mixtures of rice straw and cattle dung *** results also showed that the highest bacterial count was obtained from fungi treated rice straw mixed with cattle dung(125×10^(3)cells/g)followed by treated rice straw(32×10^(3)cells/g).This study confirms that ***,*** and *** significantly speed up the process of aerobic and anaerobic fermentation of rice straw in respect to biogas and methane production.

Frequency of diabetic retinopathy and associated risk factors in Khartoum,Sudan:population based study

AIM： To assess the frequency and associated risk fac- tors of diabetic retinopathy among Sudanese individuals with diabetes attending Makka Eye complex in Khartoum, Sudan. METHODS： The cross sectional hospital based study recruited 316 individuals with diabetes from Makkah Eye Complex Retina Clinic. Standard questionnaire was used to collect demographic data, medical history and life style characteristics. Blood samples were taken to measure HbAlc and lipid profile. Fundus and slit lamp examination were performed for screening of diabetic retinopathy. RESULTS： Among 316 participants, 187 （59.2%） were males and 129 （40.8%） were females. The mean age of participants was 58.7＋_10.5y. The overall frequency of retinopathy was 261 （82.6%）. The percentages of the total participants with proliferative diabetic retinopathy （PDR） were 126 （39.9%） and non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy （NPDR） were 135 （42.7%）. importantly, duration of diabetes mellitus （DM）（72.2% of more than 10y）, being on oral hypoglycaemic drugs （versus insulin）, and hypertension were all significant risk factors for diabetic retinopathy （P=0.00, 0.01 and 0.00 respectively）. Complications ofdiabetes like diabetic foot （17.7%）, history of amputation （6.7%） and clinically significant macular edema （CSME）（47.4%） of the eyes were all significant risk factors （P〈0.05）. Logistic regression analysis showed that duration of diabetes, hypertension and CSME were found to be absolute risk factors （P=-0.007, 0.003 and 0,000 respectively）. Duration of DM of more than 10y have more than double risk （OR--2.8）, while having hypertension triples the risk of retinopathy （OR=3.1）. CONCLUSION： High rates of diabetic retinopathy are noted among individuals with diabetes attending Makkah Eye hospital in capital Khartoum. Urgent strategies are needed to monitor and treat hypertension and optimize diabetes control in individuals with diabetes. More investment in diabetes services is urgently needed.

Background:Squamous cell carcinoma(SCC)of the bladder is common in many regions around the *** is very poor,as most cases are diagnosed at an advanced stage due to a lack of affordable and valid screening markers for this type of *** diagnostic accuracy of urinary nuclear matrix protein-22(NMP22),telomerase activity,and CD44 were evaluated in urine samples of patients with bladder *** and methods:We conducted a case-control study comprised of 60 consecutive newly diagnosed bladder SCC patients diagnosed by cystoscopy and histopathological examination,and controls were 60 outpatients with benign urologic conditions and healthy clinic *** samples collected from each subject underwent testing for NMP22,telomerase activity,and *** and correlational statistical analysis of cases and controls were carried out and receiver operating characteristic curve analysis was used to determine optimal cut-off points for the three ***:Area under the curve was calculated at 0.96,0.93,and 0.62 for NMP22,telomerase,and CD44,*** levels of NMP22 and telomerase activity were significantly higher in the SCC group compared to controls(p<0.001).Urine CD44 levels were not significantly higher in the SCC group compared to controls(p=0.111).The overall sensitivity of NMP22,telomerase,and CD44 was 96.7%,87%,and 45%,respectively,while the specificity was 85%,88.6%,and 86.7%,***:Urinary telomerase activity,followed by NMP22 urine levels,showed high diagnostic yield and could hold potential promise as urinary biomarkers for the diagnosis of bladder SCC.

Impact of Bee Pollination on Yield of Faba Bean (<i>Vicia faba</i>L.) Grown under Semi-Arid Conditions

The effect of honeybee (Apis mellifera carnica) on yield was investigated in open-pollinated faba bean cultivars and three inbred generations produced from them (once-selfed, twice-selfed, and thrice-selfed). All entries were grown in cages under two pollination conditions: presence of bees (cross-pollination) or absence of bees (self-pollination). The open-pollinated generations gave the highest performance in the presence and absence of bees. In the presence of bees, the open-pollinated and their inbred entries gave higher performance in all of the studied traits than in the absence of bees;the average improvement in yield and its components was 22%. The highest improvement percentage in yield performance was shown by more inbred entries (thrice-selfed > once-selfed), indicating that in faba bean populations, the performance of inbred generations was chiefly associated with the tripping of flowers, which is usually governed by successfully fertilized flowers, i.e., plants result from selfing in faba bean population needs to be visited by pollinating insects (bees) to set more seeds. It concluded that honeybee has an important role in increasing faba bean yield in semi-arid conditions;hence, it is important to provide a pollinator friendly environment for their foraging places and nesting sites to secure food supply.

Effect of Self-fertilization on Performance, Breeding and Germplasm Management of Four Local Faba Bean Cultivars

Faba bean is self- and cross-fertilized species. The consequences of self-fertilization are important factors determining the germplasm management in such species with levels of heterogeneity and heterozygsity. Effects of self-fertilization on floral, yield and yield components characters were evaluated by comparing two levels of selfing, produced in bee-proof cages, in open-pollination at two locations in Sudan. Selfing process results in no significant differences in yield and yield components within each cultivar. Autofertile lines with reduced partial dependence on insects for seed set could be produced. Spatial isolation should be used to maintain the genetic purity of such lines. An alternate strategy for entries multiplication should focus on increasing heterozygosity and the maintenance of cross-fertilization inside the entries to prevent contamination with foreign pollens. Our results follow the previous knowledge on faba bean genetic resources conservation and management.
