The importance of performing an early primary survey in‘silver trauma’patients in the detection of injuries has been well documented in reducing the associated morbidity and mortality.[1]In the past,when whole body computed tomography(WBCT)was not commonly available,following initial examination patients would undergo chest radiograph and pelvic X-ray and then proceed to selective computed tomography(CT).With the relatively widespread availability of CT,the use of these X-rays has *** reliance on clinical examination alone for the detection of underlying injuries is another matter of debate.

We demonstrate a new approach to tune the electrical properties of graphene and functionalized graphene. Graphene was synthesized using thermal chemical vapour deposition(TCVD) method on copper foil using precursor gas acetylene and co-catalyst H2 gas. TCVD assisted graphene was successfully transferred onto a silicon wafer. Transferred graphene sheet was then functionalized to prepare graphene oxide(GO) and reduced graphene oxide(rGO). Different surface charge carbon nanoparticles, e.g. carbon nanoparticle with net positive charge and carbon nanoparticle with net negative charge were then immobilized on transferred graphene and functionalized graphene sheets. The functionalized graphene and charge mobilized functionalized graphene were characterized by Uv–vis spectroscopy,Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and Raman spectroscopy. After immobilization of carbon nanomaterials, the ac electrical conductivity was found to increase due to enhancement of the surface charge, electron density, and mobility. It was observed that negative surface charge immobilized graphene and functionalized graphene show higher conductivity. Thus, the electrical property of graphene and functionalized graphene can be tuned by surface modification with different surface charge carbon nanomaterials.

While machine learning(ML)has shown increasing effectiveness in optimizing materials properties under known physics,its application in discovering new physics remains challenging due to its interpolative *** this work,we demonstrate a general-purpose adaptive ML-accelerated search process that can discover unexpected lattice thermal conductivity(κ_(l))enhancement in aperiodic superlattices(SLs)as compared to periodic superlattices,with implications for thermal management of multilayer-based electronic *** use molecular dynamics simulations for high-fidelity calculations ofκ_(l),along with a convolutional neural network(CNN)which can rapidly predictκ_(l)for a large number of *** ensure accurate prediction for the target unknown SLs,we iteratively identify aperiodic SLs with structural features leading to locally enhanced thermal transport and include them as additional training data for the *** identified structures exhibit increased coherent phonon transport owing to the presence of closely spaced interfaces.

In recent years, the silica-on-silicon based multimode interference （MMI） optical waveguide is an interesting research topic. It is being advanced various researches on the silica based MMI coupler. This paper represents the considerations of the optimal design of the silica-on-silicon based MMI optical coupler for better performance. For that, we have illustrated the simulation results on a particular case of the 4x4 silica-on-silicon based MMI coupler. From the simulation results, it is seen that the performance of the MMI coupler depends on multiple width and length combinations of the MMI waveguide. The results also show that the width of the multimode waveguide could not be too small or too large for optimal performance, and at the widths, 100~tm, 120~tm and 130~tm, the performance could be optimized and be almost 0.62 - 0.64 in a given length range. Finally, the results have been compared with the optical coupler presently available in the market and show that the silica-on-silicon based MMI coupler is much more efficient in terms of losses and the performance associated with it and the size of the coupler.

The present work is an attempt to develop bio-based hybrid composites by incorporating Betel nut Fiber(BF)and Chicken feather Fiber(CF)at different ratios in modified soybean oil matrix by compression molding *** ratio of the fiber and resin was taken as 30:*** soybean oil(ESO)was modified by using methacrylic acid and methacrylic *** ratio of CF and BF was varied from 2:1 to 1:2 *** influence of hybrid fibers and fiber ratio on various properties of the composites was *** obtained results showed that composites prepared with 1:1 ratio of CF and BF exhibited highest tensile strength compared to the other composites prepared by using different ratios of CF and *** surface morphology of the composites was studied by Scanning Electron Microscopy(SEM),where surface roughness was found to be decreased after incorporation of hybrid *** analysis was carried out to study the behaviour of the composites at high temperature,where thermal stability was found to enhance for hybrid composites compared to the composites prepared with single *** properties like water vapour uptake capacity and volumetric swelling were measured and found to be decreased for the hybrid *** overall improvement in properties was observed for composites having 1:1 ratio of CF:***,it is concluded that 1:1 weight ratio of CF and BF is the optimum mixing ratio to enhance the various properties of the hybrid composites.

Genetic intervention via the delivery of functional genes such as plasmid DNA(pDNA)and short-interfering RNA(siRNA)offers a great way to treat many single or multiple genetic defects effectively,including mammary *** of naked therapeutic genes or siRNAs is,however,short-lived due to biological clearance by scavenging nucleases and circulating *** cellular internalization of negatively-charged nucleic acids further causes low transfection or silencing *** of safe and effectual gene vectors is therefore undeniably crucial to the success of nucleic acid *** nanoparticles have attracted considerable attention in the recent years due to their high loading capacity and encapsulation *** we introduce strontium salt-based nanoparticles,namely,strontium sulfate,strontium sulfite and strontium fluoride as new inorganic *** strontium salt particles were found to be nanosized with high affinity towards negatively-charged pDNA and *** of the particles was seen with a drop in pH,suggesting their capacity to respond to pH change and undergo dissolution at endosomal pH to release the genetic *** the particles are relatively nontoxic towards the cells,siRNA-loaded SrF 2 and SrSO 3 particles exerted superior transgene expression and knockdown activity of MAPK and AKT,leading to inhibition of their phosphorylation to a distinctive extent in both MCF-7 and 4T1 *** salt nanoparticles have thus emerged as a promising tool for applications in cancer gene therapy.
