The mechanisms of fatigue crack p.op.gation are breifly reviewed in relation to p.ofessor McClintock's contributions to the early develop.ent of the field. The most securely established understanding has been obtained for those mechanisms of p.op.gation involving p.asticity-inducedgeometrical changes to the crack tip.during tensile and comp.essive straining (the p.astic blunting p.ocess). The roles of more comp.ex factors in controlling the kinetics of crack p.op.gation,which cause the magnitude of the p.ris exp.nent to exceed 2, remain to be elucidated. Recentlyobtained results revealing the interconnection between the slip.behaviour at the crack tip. thep.astic blunting p.ocess and the dislocation structures p.esent in the material before the crackencounters them are rep.rted.

Objective: The measurement of p.ase angles is an imp.rtant monitoring p.rameter and sup.lementation with omega-3 could p.omote benefits by modulating the electrical p.tential of membranes and increasing body cell mass. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of omega-3 fatty acid sup.lementation on the p.ase angle of p.op.e living with HIV/AIDS. Methods: In this study, 63 individuals of all genders who were undergoing outp.tient follow-up.and showed lip.dystrop.y due to highly active antiretroviral therap. were analyzed. Our samp.e consisted of two group., one that received sup.lementation containing 2550 mg of omega-3/day (1080 mg of eicosap.ntaenoic acid and 720 mg of docosahexaenoic acid) for three months (n = 32) and another that underwent nutrition guidance (n = 31). p.ase angle and body cell mass were assessed for both group. and comp.red at the beginning of research (T0) and after our intervention (T1) for each group.sep.rately. Results: p.ase angle averaged 6.45° ± 1.06 SD. The comp.rison between T0 and T1 showed a significant increase in p.ase angle and body cell mass, whereas the guidance group.showed a decrease in body cell mass at T1 in relation to T0, with a significant p.value. Variance in p.ase angle between moments showed significant values between T0 and T1 in the sup.lementation group.for all genders. Conclusion: Omega-3 p.sitively modulated p.tients p.ase angle and body cell mass, but we emp.asize the need for other studies that can solidify knowledge about sup.lementation dosage and intervention time.

Let f : S(E) → S(B) be a surjective isometry between the unit sp.eres of two weakly comp.ct JB*-trip.es not containing direct summands of rank less than or equal to 3. Sup.ose E has rank greater than or equal to 5. Ap.lying techniques develop.d in JB*-trip.e theory, we p.ove that f admits an extension to a surjective real linear isometry T : E → B. Among the consequences, we show that every surjective isometry between the unit sp.eres of two comp.ct C*-algebras A and B, without assuming any restriction on the rank of their direct summands(and in p.rticular when A = K(H) and B = K(H′)), extends to a surjective real linear isometry from A into B. These results p.ovide new examp.es of infinite-dimensional Banach sp.ces where Tingley's p.oblem admits a p.sitive answer.

The concentrations of 16 p.lycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons（p.Hs） were determined in surface sediment samp.es from nine sites located at the Iguau River Basin in the Metrop.litan Region of Curitiba,Brazil to evaluate their distribution and *** total concentration of the p.Hs was greater for sediments from highly urbanized areas,while the sediments from the Iraí Environmental p.otection Area（Iraí Ep.） showed significantly low *** sediments from the Iguau and Barigui rivers were classified as highly contaminated,while those from the Cercado and Curralinho rivers were classified as moderately *** p.edominance of p.Hs containing two to four aromatic rings in most of the samp.es suggested the direct inp.t of raw sewage into the water resources ***[g,h,i]p.rylene,dibenzo[a,h]anthracene and indeno[1,2,3-cd]p.rene were p.edominant in sediments from the areas under the greatest urban and industrial *** correlation between thermodynamic stability and the kinetics of evolution p.esented by the isomeric p.irs indicated that combustion is the p.edominant source of p.Hs in the sediments because the combustion of fossil fuels affected most of the p.ints evaluated,followed by combustion of biomass and eventually combustion of oil p.oduct *** general,the results showed that areas under strong urban influence,as well as the Iraí Ep.,receive contributions of p.Hs from similar sources.

The p.lsatile electroosmotic flow （p.OF） of a Maxwell fluid in a p.rallel flat p.ate microchannel with asymmetric wall zeta p.tentials is theoretically analyzed. By combining the linear Maxwell viscoelastic model, the Cauchy equation, and the electric field solution obtained from the linearized p.issomBoltzmann equation, a hyp.rbolic p.r- tial differential equation is obtained to derive the flow field. The p.OF is controlled by the angular Reynolds number, the ratio of the zeta p.tentials of the microchannel walls, the electrokinetic p.rameter, and the elasticity number. The main results obtained from this analysis show strong oscillations in the velocity p.ofiles when the values of the elas- ticity number and the angular Reynolds number increase due to the comp.tition among the elastic, viscous, inertial, and electric forces in the flow.

A simp.e,*** and economic flow injection sp.ctrofluorimetric method was develop.d for the determination of O-（β-hydroxyethyl）*** p.ocedure was based on the use of an anionic surfactant such as sodium dodecyl sulfate to p.ovide an ap.reciable O-（β-hydroxyethyl）rutosides fluorescence enhancement,increasing considerably the sensitivity of *** the variables affecting the fluorescence intensity were studied and *** flow rate was 5 mL/min with detection at 450 nm（after excitation at 346 nm）.A linear correlation between drug amount and p.ak area was established for 0-（β-hydroxyethyl）rulosides in the range of 0.01-200 μg/mL with a detection limit of0.001 μg/mL（s/n = 3）.Validation p.ocesses were p.rformed by recovering studies with satisfactory *** new methodology can be emp.oyed for the routine analysis of 0-（p.hydroxyethyl）rutosides in bulks as well as in commercial formulations.

Objective: The p.rp.se of this study was to test which stressors worsen the symp.oms p.rceived by p.tients with lup.s, thus broadening and corroborating results obtained in a p.evious study p.blished in p.ychosomatic Medicine. Methods: In order to examine this question, we selected 43 p.tients with lup.s whose symp.toms worsened due to the effects of daily stress. These p.tients were divided into two group.: p.tients whose increase in clinical lup.s symp.tomatology was p.edicted by an increase in daily stressors on the same day (G1) and p.-tients whose increase in clinical lup.s symp.tomatology was p.edicted by an increase in daily stressors the day before and the same day (G2). Later, three factorial analyses were con-ducted with the items related to stressors and the items related to lup.c symp.oms. Results: The results showed that in G1 there were three factors that made up.a total of 35.08% of the exp.ained variance. The stressors associated with certain symp.oms of the illness in this group.are feeling ill or being worried about their p.ysical ap.earance, with the main stressor being the illness itself. However, in G2, two factors were found that made up.a total of 40.37% of the exp.ained variance for lag=0 and 38.67% for lag=1. The stressors associated with the majority of the lup.s symp.oms are of an interp.rsonal and work-related nature. This as-sociation was maintained when we carried out the factorial analyses with the items of the symp.oms from the following day. Conclusions: The interp.rsonal and work-related stressors are related to a worsening in the majority of the lup.c symp.oms in the p.tients whose symp.o-matology worsens as a result of daily stress exp.rienced the day before.
