Fire resistance evaluation through synthetic fire tests and generative adversarial networks

this paper introduces a machine learning approach to address the challenge of lim.t.d data resulting from costly and time-consuming fire experiments by enlarging small fire test data sets and predicting the fire resistance of reinforced concrete *** approach begins by creating deep learning models,namely generative adversarial networks and variational autoencoders,to learn the spatial distribution of real fire *** then use these models to generate synthetic tabular samples that closely resemble realistic fire resistance values for reinforced concrete *** generated data are employed to train state-of-the-art machine learning techniques,including Extreme Gradient Boost,Light Gradient Boosting machine,Categorical Boosting Algorithm,Support Vector Regression,Random Forest,Decision tree,multiple Linear Regression,Polynomial Regression,Support Vector machine,Kernel Support Vector machine,Naive Bayes,and K-Nearest Neighbors,which can predict the fire resistance of the columns through regression and *** learning analyses achieved highly accurate predictions of fire resistance values,outperforming traditional models that relied solely on lim.t.d experimental *** study highlights the potential for using machine learning and deep learning analyses to revolutionize the field of structural engineering by improving the accuracy and efficiency of fire resistance evaluations while reducing the reliance on costly and time-consuming experiments.

Dialysis plays a crucial role in the purification of nanom.t.rials but its impact on the structural properties of carbon nanom.t.rials was never ***,a carbon-based nanom.t.rial generated electrochemically in potassium phosphate buffer,was characterized before and after dialysis against pure *** is shown that dialysis affects the size of the carbon domains,structural organization,surface functionalization,oxidation degree of carbon,and grade of ***,dialysis drives the nanom.t.rial organization from discrete roundish carbon domains,with sizes ranging from 70 to 160 nm.t.wards linear stacking structures of small nanoparticles （m）.In parallel,alcohol and ether （epoxide） surface groups evolve into more oxidized carbon groups （e.g.,ketone and ester groups）.Investigation of the as-prepared nanom.t.rial by electron paramagnetic resonance （EPR） revealed a resonance signal consistent with carbon-oxygen centred ***,this study brings to light the selective affinity of the carbon nanom.t.rial under study to capture Na+ions,a property greatly enhanced by the dialysis process,and its high ability to trap oxygen,particularly before *** findings open new perspectives for the application of carbon-based nanom.t.rials and raise awareness of the importance of structural changes that can occur during the purification of carbon-based nanom.t.rials.

A unified fractional flow framework for predicting the liquid holdup in two-phase pipe flows

two-phase pipe flow occurs frequently in oil & gas industry, nuclear power plants, and CCUS. Reliable calculations of gas void fraction(or liquid holdup) play a central role in two-phase pipe flow models. In this paper we apply the fractional flow theory to multiphase flow in pipes and present a unified modeling framework for predicting the fluid phase volume fractions over a broad range of pipe flow conditions. Compared to existing m.t.ods and correlations, this new framework provides a simple,approxim.t., and efficient way to estim.t. the phase volume fraction in two-phase pipe flow without invoking flow patterns. Notably, existing correlations for estim.t.ng phase volume fraction can be transformed and expressed under this modeling framework. Different fractional flow models are applicable to different flow conditions, and they demonstrate good agreement against experimental data within 5% errors when compared with an experimental database comprising of 2754 data groups from 14literature sources, covering various pipe geom.t.ies, flow patterns, fluid properties and flow *** gas void fraction predicted by the framework developed in this work can be used as inputs to reliably model the hydraulic and thermal behaviors of two-phase pipe flows.

Biotransform.t.on of 6:2 fluorotelomer sulfonate (6:2 FtS) in sulfur-rich media by tram.t.psis cervina

Biotransform.t.on of 6:2 fluorotelomer sulfonate (6:2 FtS) by two species of white-rot fungi, Pleurotus ostreatus (P. ostreatus) and tram.t.psis cervina (t. cervina), was investigated in a sulfur-rich medium designed to stimulate production of lignin-degrading enzymes. Degradation of 6:2 FtS was observed by t. cervina over the study period of 30 d, but not by P. ostreatus. Biotransform.t.on rates were comparable to those found in other studies investigating mixed culture degradation in non-sulfur lim.t.ng media, with approxim.t.ly 50 mol% of applied 6:2 FtS removed after 30 d. Stable transform.t.on products were short-chain perfluorocarboxylic acids (PFCAs), including PFHxA (2.27 mol%), PFPeA (0.24 mol%), and PFBA (0.28 mol%). the main intermediate products include 5:2 sFtOH (16.3 mol%) and 5:3 FtCA (2.99 mol%), while 6:2 FtCA, 6:2 FtuCA, and 5:2 ketone were also identified at low levels. Approxim.t.ly 60 mol% of detected products were assigned to the major pathway to 5:2 ketone, and 40 mol% were assigned to the minor pathway to 5:3 FtCA. the overall molar balance was found to decrease to 75 mol% by Day 30, however, was closed to near 95 mol% with a theoretical estim.t.on for the volatile intermediates in the headspace, 5:2 ketone and 5:2 sFtOH. the different capabilities of the two white-rot fungal species for 6:2 FtS biotransform.t.on in sulfur-rich media suggest that the enzyme processes of t. cervina to de-sulfonate 6:2 FtS may be unrelated to sulfur m.t.bolism. BACKGROUND Nutrition recommendations in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(t2Dm)are to consume rye or integral bread instead of white bread.A positive effect on glucoregulation has been achieved by enriching food with various biologically active substances of herbal origin,so we formulated an herbal mixture that can be used as a supplement for a special type of bread(StB)to achieve better effects on postprandial glucose and insulin levels in patients with *** to compare organoleptic characteristics and effects of two types of bread on postprandial glucose and insulin levels in t2Dm *** this trial included 97 patients with t2Dm.A parallel group of 16 healthy subjects was also *** participants were given 50 g of rye bread and the same amount of a StB with an herbal mixture on 2 consecutive *** blood glucose and insulin levels were compared at the 30^(th),60^(th),90^(th) and 120th min.A questionnaire was used for subjective estim.t.on of the organoleptic and satiety features of the two types of *** Compared to patients who consumed rye bread,significantly lower postprandial blood glucose and insulin concentrations were found in t2Dm patients who consumed *** relevant differences were found among the healthy *** estim.t.d organoleptic and satiety characteristics are better for StB than for rye *** StB have better effects than rye bread on postprandial glucoregulation in t2Dm *** estim.t.d organoleptic and satiety characteristics are better for StB than for rye ***,StB can be recommended for nutrition in t2Dm patients.

m.t.bolic syndrome and the urinary microbiome of patients undergoing percutaneous nephrolithotomy

Objective:to identify possible stone-prom.t.ng microbes,we compared the profiles of microbes grown from stones of patients with and without m.t.bolic syndrome(m.t.).the association between m.t. and urinary stone disease is well established,but the exact pathophysiologic relationship remains *** evidence suggests urinary tract dysbiosis may lead to increased nephrolithiasis ***:At the time of percutaneous nephrolithotomy,bladder urine and stone fragments were collected from patients with and without *** sample types were subjected to expanded quantitative urine culture(EQUC)and 16 S ribosomal RNA gene ***:Fifty-seven patients included 12 controls(21.1%)and 45 m.t. patients(78.9%).Both cohorts were similar with respect to demographics and non-m.t. *** controls had uric acid stone *** EQUC,bacteria were detected more frequently in m.t. stones(42.2%)compared to controls(8.3%)(p=0.041).Bacteria also were more abundant in stones of m.t. patients compared to *** validate our EQUC results,we performed 16 S ribosomal RNA gene *** 12/16(75.0%)sequence-positive stones,EQUC reliably isolated at least one species of the sequenced *** were detected in both“infectious”and“non-infectious”stone ***:Bacteria are more common and more abundant in m.t. stones than control *** findings support a role for bacteria in urinary stone disease for patients with m.t. regardless of stone composition.

Revealing the seismicity increase in interrelationships in various seismic zones in Uzbekistan as a case study

A new research m.t.od was developed to investigate the influence of an increase in seismicity from one zone on the increase in other zones nearby. By applying the developed m.t.od to each main seismic zone in Uzbekistan, we specify the external seismic zone activation, which has the greatest impact on activation within the research zone. We also identify each external seismic zone characterized by high seismic activity and large seismic potential that has the greatest impact on each seismic zone in Uzbekistan.

Prevelance of Bovine Cysticercosis in Egypt and the Cysticidal Effect of two Extracts Obtained from Balanites aegyptiaca and moringa oleifera on mice model Affected with t. saginata Cysticerci

the aim of the present study was to determine the prevalence of bovine cysticercosis in both cattle and buffloas, in Egypt and to assess the cysticidal efficacy of Balanites aegyptiaca fruits (B. aegyptiaca) and moringa oleifera seeds (m. oleifera) extracts in experimentally infected mice. the study detected the level of tumor necrosis factor (tNF-α) to monitor the immune and inflamm.t.ry responses of experimentally infected mice. through meat inspection, a total number of 2125 male bovine, 2 to 5 years old, (1125 cattle and 1000 buffloes) were examined under the authority of Albsatine and Alwaraq official abattoirs in Cairo Governorate, Egypt covering the period extended from march 2022 to April 2023. the overall prevalence of the disease among bovine was 7.8% (6.31% of cattle and 9.5% of buffloes). Besides, B. aegyptiaca and m. oleifera extracts showed cysticidal activity in experimentally infected mice. A decrease in the numbers of cysticerci was found in all treated mice groups, and up to 88% reduction was achieved in the B. aegyptiaca-treated group;higher than that was recorded in both m. oleifera (72.23%) and albendazole-treated ones (80.56%). Postmortem findings proved that m. oleifera and B. aegyptiaca reduced cysticerci numbers comparable to a commercial anthelmintic. the study showed a significant decrease (P 0.001) in tNF-α levels after treatment with Balanites and moringa extracts, compared with the untreated control and the albendazole-treated groups.
