The area of the present investigation’s expanse constitutes the southernmost extent of the southeast Kumaun Himalaya and western Nepal *** approaches have been employed to understand the landforms associated with tectonic deformation,through detailed field investigation supplemented by the geodetic,chronological,and morphometric *** morphogenic expressions of the Main Boundary Thrust(MBT)are reflected in the form of~25 km long E-W trending north dipping fault *** deformation along the strike length of the Himalayan Frontal Thrust(HFT)is noticed in the form of uplifted and incised fill terraces,and strath *** deformation within the fluvial sequences in the study area can be visualized in the form of sheared boulders and pebbles,tilted and faulted terrace ***,the chronological data of fluvial landforms in the study area suggests two major phases of tectonic deformations that have occurred around 58.7±10.8 ka and 3.88±0.4 *** chronology of late-Quaternary landforms advocates that the initial stage of aggradations in the Himalayan foothills commenced around 75.1±0.58 *** aggradational landforms resulted from the diverse depositional regime as evident from the nature of the sediment sequences from clasts dominated to thick mud *** rate of deformation in the southeastern Kumaun and western Nepal Himalaya is±7 mm/yr,as per the data obtained from the Persistent Scatterer Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar(PSInSAR).The landform deformation pattern,phase of incision and aggradation,frequent occurrence of landslides,and recent past earthquake activity within the wide zone of the HFT,the MBT,and Ramgarh Thrust suggests that the southernmost front of the Kumaun Himalaya is active and has potential for future *** foothill zone of Himalayan towns are actively growing in terms of population and infrastructural ***,such intradisciplinary studies for tectonically active r

Analysis of an HIV model with distributed delay and behavior change

We develop and analyze a mathematical model for the transmission dynamics of HIV that accounts for behavioral change. The contact rate is modeled by a decreasing function （response function） of HIV prevalence to reflect a reduction in risky behavior that results from the awareness of individuals to a higher HIV prevalence. The model also includes a distributed delay representing the time needed for individuals to reduce their risky behavior. We study mathematically and numerically the impact of the response function and the distributed delay on the model＇s dynamics. Threshold values for the delay at which the system destabilizes and periodic solutions can arise through Hopf bifurcation are determined.

Effect of IOP based infusion system with and without balanced phaco tip on cumulative dissipated energy and estimated fluid usage in comparison to gravity fed infusion in torsional phacoemulsification

Background:To evaluate the effect of three different combinations of tip designs and infusion systems in torsional phacoemulsification(INFINITI and CENTURION)in patients with *** to the manufacturer,two unique improvements in the Centurion are:active fluid dynamic management system and use of an intrepid balanced *** study specifically aimed to evaluate the beneficial effects,if any,of change in tip design and infusion system individually and in combination on both per-operative parameters as well as endothelial health over 6 ***:One hundred and twenty six consenting patients of grade 4.0-6.9 senile cataract were randomized into three groups for phacoemulsification:Group A(n=42):Gravity fed infusion system and 45° Kelman miniflared ABS phaco tip;Group B(n=42):intraocular pressure(IOP)based infusion system and 45° Kelman miniflared ABS phaco tip;Group C(n=42):IOP based infusion system and 45° Intrepid balanced phaco *** cumulative dissipated energy(CDE),estimated fluid usage(EFU)and total aspiration time(TAT)were compared *** endothelial parameters were followed up postoperatively for six ***:The three arms were matched for age(p=0.525),gender(p=0.96)and grade of cataract(p=0.177).Group C was associated with significant reductions in CDE(p=0.001),EFU(p<0.0005)as well as TAT(p=0.001)in comparison to the other *** three groups had comparable baseline endothelial cell density(p=0.876)and central corneal thickness(p=0.561).On post-operative evaluation,although all groups were comparable till 3 months,by 6 months,the percentage losses in endothelial cell density were significantly lower in group C as compared to the other ***:Use of an IOP based phacoemulsification system in association with use of the Intrepid balanced tip reduces the CDE,EFU and TAT in comparison to a gravity fed system with a mini flared tip or IOP based system with a mini flared tip while also providing better endothelia

Role of Feature Selection on Leaf Image Classification

The digital images have been studied for image classification, enhancement, image compression and image segmentation purposes. In the present work, it is proposed to study the effects of feature selection algorithm on the predictive classification accuracy of algorithms used for discriminating the different plant leaf images. The process involves extracting the important texture features from the digital images and then subjecting them to feature selection and further classification process. The leaf image features have been extracted by using Gabor texture features and these Gabor features are subjected to Random Forest feature selection algorithm for extracting important texture features. The four classification algorithms like K-Nearest Neighbour, J48, Classification and Regression Trees and Random Forest have been used for classification purpose. This study shows that there is a net improvement in the predictive classification accuracy values, when classification algorithms have been applied on selected features over the complete set of features.

Investigation of Al Schottky junction on n-type CdS film deposited on polymer substrate

A systematic study has been made on the behavior of Al/n-CdS thin film junction on flexible polymer substrate(polyethylene terephthalate, PET)grown using thermal evaporation method. Temperature dependence of Ⅰ-Ⅴ measurements for this junction has been done which closely follow the equations of Schottky barrier junction dominated by thermionic emission mechanism. Intrinsic and contact properties such as barrier height, ideality factor and series resistance have been calculated from Ⅰ-Ⅴ characteristics. The barrier height of Al/n-CdS junction is found to increase with increase in temperature whereas ideality factor and series resistance decrease with increase in temperature.

Influence of CdS Nano Additives on the Thermal Conductivity of Poly(vinyl chloride)/CdS Nanocomposites

PVC/CdS nanocomposites have been prepared by solution casting method taking 2, 4, 6 and 8 wt% of CdS nanoparticles. PVC/CdS nanocomposites were characterized through TEM measurement. The measurement of effective thermal conductivity of PVC/CdS nanocomposites has also been done using transient plane source (TPS) method. The effects of concentration of CdS nanoparticles and temperature on the effective thermal conductivity of polymer PVC/CdS nanocomposites have been studied. The variation of effective thermal conductivity with the concentration of filler particles and temperature has also been discussed in terms of dispersion of filler particles into polymer matrix and phonon scattering mechanism, respectively.

Kinetics of Phase Transformations and Thermal Stability of GexSe70Sb30-x(x = 5, 10, 15, 20) Chalcogenide Glasses

Kinetic studies of two-phase transformations i.e. glass transition and crystallization for GexSe70Sb30-x (x = 5, 10, 15, 20) glasses have been performed using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) at different heating rates under non-isothermal condition. The glass transition and crystallization regions have been investigated in terms of their characteristic temperatures i.e. glass transition temperature Tg and crystallization temperature Tc and activation energy. The activation energies of glass transition and crystallization have been calculated by employing peak shift method of Kissinger and isoconversional methods. Activation energies have been found to be dependent on the composition. The thermal stabili- ty is determined from the temperature difference ΔT = Tc — Tg where Tc and Tg are the onset crystallization and glass transition temperature respectively. It has been found that Ge15Se70Sb15 glass is thermally more stable as compared to the other members of the series.
