Ethanol inhibits the motility of rabbit sphincter of Oddi in vitro

AIM:The rote of the sphincter of Oddi(SO)in ethanol (ETOH)-induced pancreatitis is *** aim was to characterise the effect of E-I-OH on basal and stimulated SO motility. METHODS:SOs removed from white rabbits were placed in an organ bath(Krebs solution,pH7.4,37℃).The effects of 2 mL/L,4 mL/L,6 mL/L and 8 mL/L of ETOH on the contractile responses of the sphincter were determined. SOs were stimulated with either 0.1 μmol/L carbachol,1 μmol/L erythromycin or 0.1 μmol/L cholecystokinin(ccK). RESULTS:ETOH at a dose of 4 mL/L significantly decreased the baseline contractile amplitude from 11.98±0.05 mN to 11.19±0.07 ***,no significant changes in the contractile frequency were ***(0.6%) significantly decreased both the baseline amplitude and the frequency compared to the control group(10.50±0.01 mN, 12.13±0.10 mN and 3.53±0.13 c/min,5.5±0.13 cycles(c)/min, respectively).Moreover,0.8% of ETOH resulted in complete relaxation of the ***(0.1 μmol/L)or erythromycin (1 μmol/L)stimulated the baseline amplitudes(by 82% and 75%,respectively)and the contractile frequencies (by 150% and 106%,respectively).In the carbachol or erythromydn-stimulated groups 2-6 mL/L of E-IOH significantly inhibited both the amplitude and the ***, a 4-5 min administration of 6 mL/L ETOH suddenly and completely relaxed the ***(0.1 μmol/L)stimulated the baseline amplitude from 12.37±0.05 mN to 27.40±1.82 mN within 1.60±0.24 *** this peak,the amplitude decreased to 17.17±0.22 mN and remained constant during the *** frequency peaked at 12.8±0.2 c/min, after which the constant frequency was 9.43±0.24 c/min throughout the rest of the *** at a dose of 4 mL/L significantly decreased the amplitude from 16.13±0.23 mN to 14.93±0.19 ***,no significant changes in the contractile frequency were *** at a dose of 6 mL/L inhibited both the amplitudes and the frequencies in the ccK-stimulated group,while 8 mL/L of E

Volume change related defects formation mechanisms are an important detracting phenomenon in production of complex shaped cast *** different technical alloys,cast iron behaves in a complex manner due to the combined volume change of the formed *** liquid and the austenitic phase are contracting while the graphite phase is expanding during the *** complex volume change in combination with complex casting shapes causes a considerable deviation from isotropy in the solidification *** mentioned difficulties are considered the main reason why an extensive research work is condensed in the literature within this *** multitude of reported experimental set up and the various efforts to interpret the volume change phenomena in terms of density and thermal expansion coefficients makes the results difficult to compare from different *** these difficulties in mind,the present paper presents a broad experimental series and measures unidirectional linear deformation of an industrially spread lamellar cast iron alloy system(Fe-c-2Si)using the push-rod based dilatometer *** measurements are divided into two major groups with respect to the liquid iron deformation over the liquidus temperature line,and the austenite deformation below the solidus temperature *** obtained results are interpreted as thermal expansion coefficients,density variation slopes,and density data at the liquids and solidus *** obtained results are compared with literature data and with calculated values by the Thermo calc software.

Glioblastoma is a highly aggressive brain tumor,very invasive and thus difficult to eradicate with standard oncology *** treatments based on pulsed electric fields have proven to be a successful method to treat cancerous ***,they rely on stiff electrodes,which cause acute and chronic injuries,especially in soft tissues like the *** we demonstrate the feasibility of delivering pulsed electric fields with flexible electronics using an in ovo vascularized tumor *** show with fluorescence widefield and multiphoton microscopy that pulsed electric fields induce vasoconstriction of blood vessels and evoke calcium signals in vascularized glioblastoma spheroids stably expressing a genetically encoded fluorescence *** of the electric field delivery are compared with the measured influence of electric field effects on cell membrane integrity in exposed tumor *** results confirm the feasibility of flexible electronics as a means of delivering intense pulsed electric fields to tumors in an intravital 3D vascularized model of human glioblastoma.

Purpose:The purposes of the present study were:(1)to determine whether the physical working capacity at the fatigue threshold(PWcFT)model that has been used for estimating the onset of neuromuscular fatigue in the vastus lateralis(VL)during incremental treadmill running could also be applied to the vastus medialis(VM),biceps femoris(BF),and semitendinosus(ST)muscles;and(2)if applicable,to compare the running velocities associated with the PWcFT among these ***:Eleven subjects(age 21.7±1.8 years)performed an incremental treadmill test to exhaustion with electromyographic signals recorded from the VL,VM,BF,and ***:The results indicated there were no significant(p>0.05)mean differences in the running velocities associated with the PWcFT for the VL(14.4±2.0 km/h),VM(14.3±1.9 km/h),BF(13.8±1.8 km/h),and ST(14.7±2.3 km/h).In addition,there were significant inter-correlations(r=0.68-0.88)among running velocities associated with the PWcFT of each *** results also indicated that 9 of the 11 subjects exhibited identical PWcFT values for at least 3 of the 4 muscles,but there were no uniform patterns for any intra-individual ***:The findings of the present study suggested that the PWcFT test is a viable method to identify neuromuscular fatigue in the quadriceps and hamstrings during incremental treadmill exercise and results in consistent PWcFT values among these muscles.

Objective To investigate the role of oxidative stress, inflammation, hypercoagulability and neuroendocrine activation in the transition of hypertensive heart disease to heart failure with preserved ejection fraction （HFPEF）. Methods We performed echocardiography for 112 patients （≥ 60 years old） with normal EF （18 controls and 94 with hypertension）, and determined protein carbonylation （Pc）, and tetrahydrobiopterin （BH4）, c-reactive protein （cRP）, interleukin-6 （IL-6）, tumor necrosis factor-α （TNF-α）, fibrinogen, plasminogen activator inhibitor type-I （PAI-I）, von Willebrand factor, chromogranin A （cGA） and B-type natriuretic peptide （BNP） levels from their blood samples. Results We found that 40% （38/94） of the patients with hypertension （HT） had no diastolic dysfunction （HTDD-）, and 60% （56/94） had diastolic dysfunction （HTDD＋）. compared to the controls, both patient groups had increased Pc and BH4, TNF-α, PAI-I and BNP levels, while the HTDD＋ group had elevated cGA and cRP levels. Decreased atrial and longitudinal left ventficular （LV） systolic and diastolic myocardial deformation （strain and strain rate） was demonstrated in both patient groups versus the control. Patients whose LV diastolic function deteriorated during the follow-up had elevated Pc and IL-6 level compared to their own baseline values, and to the respective values of patients whose LV diastolic function remained unchanged. Oxidative stress, inflammation, BNP and PAI-I levels inversely correlated with LV systolic, diastolic and atrial function. conclusions In patients with HT and normal EF, the most common HFPEF precursor condition, oxidative stress and inflammation may be responsible for LV systolic, diastolic and atrial dysfunction, which are important determinants of the transition of liT to HFPEF.

chemical investigation of Beouverio felina,a marine-derived entomopathogenic fungus,obtained two new destruxin hexadepsipeptides(1 and 2)containing an/.-Ala^(5)residue instead of the usual A/-Me-L-Ala^(5).Interestingly,the presence of the/.-Ala^(5)residue enabled two slowly-exchanging solution conformers with cis/trons(ILE^(3))-(A/-Me-Val^(4))amide bond for 1 and 2 with 1.5:1 and 1:1 cis/trans ratios,respectively,while only the conformer with c/s amide bond was found in the *** solution and solid-state conformers were studied by NMR,X-ray diffraction and solution and solid-state EcD measurements,as well as by TDDFT-EcD ***(conformational)parameter-activity correlations suggested that the extended destruxin geometry with the preferred c/s(ILE^(3))-(A/-Me-Val^(4))bond probably resulted in improved bioactivity and reduced toxicity for the destruxin *** was the first report on the interconversion phenomenon of cis/trans amide bonds of destruxin class,which could give insights in the development of bioactive destruxin agents with lower toxicity.

Verrucosidins,a methylatedα-pyrone class of polyketides rarely reported upon,have been implicated in one or more neurological *** the signifcance of verrucosidins as neurotoxins,the absolute confgurations of most of the derivatives have not been accurately characterized *** this study,three pairs of c-9 epimeric verrucosidin derivatives,including the known compounds penicyrones A and B(1a/1b)and 9-O-methylpenicyrones A and B(2a/2b),the new compounds 9-O-ethylpenicyrones A and B(3a/3b),together with the related known derivative verrucosidin(4),were isolated and identifed from the culture extract of Penicillium cyclopium SD-413,which was obtained from the marine sediment collected from the East china *** structures were established based on an in-depth analysis of nuclear magnetic resonances(NMR)and mass spectroscopic *** of the absolute confgurations of these compounds was accomplished by Mosher’s method and time-dependent density functional theory(TDDFT)calculations of electronic circular dichroism(EcD)and optical rotation(OR).The confgurational assignment of penicyrone A demonstrated that the previously reported c-6 absolute confguration of verrucosidin derivatives needs to be revised from(6S)to(6R).The 9R/9S epimers of compounds 1–3 were found to exhibit growth inhibition against some pathogenic bacteria,indicating that they have potential as lead compounds for the creation of antimicrobial agents.

The shift of dark-grown seedlings into light causes enormous transcriptome changes followed by a dramatic developmental ***,we show that microRNA(miRNA)biogenesis also undergoes regulatory changes during *** seedlings maintain low levels of primary miRNAs(pri-miRNAs)and miRNA processing core proteins,such as Dicer-like 1,SERRATE,and HYPONASTIc LEAVES 1,whereas during de-etiolation both pri-miRNAs and the processing components accumulate to high ***,the levels of most miRNAs do not notably increase in response to *** reconcile this inconsistency,we demonstrated that an unknown suppressor decreases miRNA-processing activity and light-induced SMALL RNA DEGRADING NUcLEASE 1 shortens the half-life of several miRNAs in de-etiolated *** together,these data suggest a novel mechanism,miRNA-biogenetic inconsistency,which accounts for the intricacy of miRNA biogenesis during *** mechanism is essential for the survival of de-etiolated seedlings after long-term skotomorphogenesis and their optimal adaptation to ever-changing light conditions.
