Rationale Haematoma growth is common early after intracerebral haemorrhage(ICH),and is a key determinant of *** acid,a widely available antifibrinolytic agent with an excellent safety profile,may reduce haematoma *** and design Stopping intracerebral haemorrhage with tranexamic acid for hyperacute onset presentation including mobile stroke units(STOP-MSU)is a phase Ⅱ double-blind,randomised,placebo-controlled,multicentre,international investigator-led clinical trial,conducted within the estimand statistical *** In patients with spontaneous ICH,treatment with tranexamic acid within 2 hours of onset will reduce haematoma expansion compared with *** size estimates A sample size of 180 patients(90 in each arm)would be required to detect an absolute difference in the primary outcome of 20%(placebo 39%vs treatment 19%)under a two-tailed significance level of *** adaptive sample size re-estimation based on the outcomes of 144 patients will allow a possible increase to a prespecified maximum of 326 *** Participants will receive 1 g intravenous tranexamic acid over 10 min,followed by 1 g intravenous tranexamic acid over 8 hours;or matching *** efficacy measure The primary efficacy measure is the proportion of patients with haematoma growth by 24±6 hours,defined as either≥33%relative increase or≥6 mL absolute increase in haematoma volume between baseline and follow-up CT *** We describe the rationale and protocol of STOP-MSU,a phase Ⅱ trial of tranexamic acid in patients with ICH within 2 hours from onset,based in participating mobile stroke units and emergency departments.

Mapping of Groundwater Potential by Multicriteria Analysis: Case of the Departments of Yamoussoukro and Toumodi (Central Cote d’Ivoire)

This study focuses on the problem of access to drinking water in the fractured areas of the departments of Yamoussoukro and Toumodi. The problem has become more acute since most of the boreholes drilled have failed. The main objective of this study is to map the areas that are favorable for the installation of large boreholes in the departments of Yamoussoukro and Toumodi in order to increase the population’s drinking water needs. Hydroclimatic and cartographic data, technical surveys of boreholes and satellite images were used to conduct this study. The AHP multi-criteria analysis method was adopted. It consists in aggregating the criteria by weighting and allowed to combine these different data to generate maps of groundwater availability, accessibility and exploitability indicators. These different indicators were then considered as criteria and combined using the full aggregation technique to produce the water potential map. These results show that the study area has significant groundwater reserves with nearly 63% of these areas being favorable for the establishment of large flow boreholes. This study provides some answers to the question of groundwater resources and could be used as a decision support tool in the execution of groundwater collection works in the departments of Yamoussoukro and Toumodi in order to avoid the high percentage of drilling failures encountered in past projects.

The incidence of non-melanoma skin cancers(NMSC)is rising worldwide resulting in demand for clinically useful prognostic biomarkers for these malignant tumors,especially for invasive and metastatic cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma(cSCC).Important risk factors for the development and progression of cSCC include ultraviolet radiation,chronic skin ulcers and *** to the role of cumulative long-term sun exposure,cSCC is usually a disease of the elderly,but the incidence is also growing in younger individuals due to increased recreational exposure to *** clinical diagnosis of cSCC is usually easy and treatment with surgical excision curable,it is responsible for the majority of NMSC related *** treating skin cancer patients are aware that certain cSCCs grow rapidly and metastasize,but the underlying molecular mechanisms responsible for the aggressive progression of a subpopulation of cSCCs remain incompletely ***,new molecular markers for progresprogression of cSCC have been identified.

Development of a Low Temperature Sol-Gel-Derived Titania-Silica Implant Coating

Objective of this study was to develope low temperature sol-gel coatings for shape memory metal (NiTi) and evaluate their biocompatibility on NiTi suture material. A series of low temperature TiO2 and TiO2-SiO2 sol-gel coatings were prepared on glass substrates. The silica content of TiO2-SiO2 coatings ranged from 0 to 30 mol%. The coatings were also prepared with polyethyleneglycol (PEG). The contact angle and photocatalytic activity measurements were used to evaluate the surface properties of the coatings. Stability of the coatings was tested in simulated body fluid (SBF). The TiO2-SiO2 90/10 film made with PEG was more hydrophilic, showed photocatalytic activity and was crack-free after the SBF test, thus it was chosen to animal experiment as a new experimental coating. Uncoated NiTi suture and the suture coated with high temperature TiO2 were used as reference materials. NiTi sutures were inserted subcutaneously on the back of rat for four weeks. In routine histological examinations all materials showed good biocompatibility with mild inflammatory cell reaction. No significant differences in the soft tissue response among the materials were observed. Both the high and new low temperature processed sol-gel coatings remained attached on the sutures confirming the suitability of the coating technique on thin NiTi sutures.

营养和沉积物负荷的增加影响沿海生态系统的生物多样性和功能。由于缺乏长期监测数据,本研究通过古湖泊学研究方法对栖息地和硅藻多样性的时间变化进行了评估。本文研究了过去大约200年内芬兰湾水体富营养化对硅藻群落结构和物种丰度的影响。浮游硅藻丰度随水体富营养化和浊度的升高而显著增加。在总溶解氮浓度低于400～600g/L的阈值后,底部生境减少,硅藻物种丰度显著下降;数据分析表明多样性和生产力之间并不呈单峰型关系。城市样点物种丰度随19世纪末城市化进程而显著下降,由于20世纪80年代中期点源负荷的停止而使其中两个城市样点的丰度得以恢复,然而由于大集水区负荷扩散效应的影响,第三个样点的物种丰度没有恢复的迹象。农村样点的变化较小,且20世纪40年代后才开始发生变化。

Study on Matrix Metalloproteinase-2 and Related Tissue Inhibitors in Animal Model of Chronic Allograft Nephropathy

Objective The exact pathogenesis of CAN is not clear, especially for the early stage of CAN. We hypothesized that MMP-2/TIMP-2 are not only involved in the progression of CKD into ESRD, but also involved in the pathogenesis of CAN at a very early stage. Methods Kidneys of Fisher (F334) rats were orthotopically transplanted into bilaterally nephrectomized Lewis (LEW) recipients. To suppress an initial episode of acute rejection, rats were briefly treated with cyclosporine A (1.5mg/kg/day) for the first 10days. Animals were harvested at week 4, 8, 12, 16 and 24 after transplantation for histoIogical, immunohistological and molecular biological analysis. Results The protein and mRNA expressions of MMP-2 in transplant group were down-regulated at week 4 and recovered at week 8 and 12 respectively. The protein and mRNA expression of TIMP-2 were up-regulated at week 4 and recovered at week 24. MMP-2/TIMP-2 ratio for their protein expressions was down-regulated at all time points during the course of CAN. The expression of MCP-1 in allografts was significantly higher at week 4, 8 and 12, lower at week 16 and 24 as compared to F344 controls. Conclusion It is suggested that MMP-2 and TIMP-2 ratio were not involved in the mechanism of mononuclear cells infiltration but associated with the fibrosis of allografts during the early-stage of CAN.
