As an environmental risk factor, psychological stress may trigger the onset or accelerate the progression of Parkinson＇s disease （PD）. Here, we evaluated the effects of acute restraint stress on striatal dopaminergic terminals and the brain metabolism of 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahy- dropyridine （MPTP）, which has been widely used for creating a mouse model of PD. Exposure to 2 h of restraint stress immediately after injection of a low dose of MPTP caused a severe loss of striatal dopaminergic terminals as indicated by decreases in the dopamine transporter protein and dopamine levels compared with MPTP administration alone. Both striatal 1-methyl-4-phenylpyridinium ion （MPP＋） and MPTP concentrations were significantly increased by the application of restraint stress. Striatal monoamine oxidase-B, which catalyzes the oxidation of MPTP to MPP＋, was not changed by the restraint stress. Our results indicate that the enhanced striatal dopaminergic terminal loss in the stressed mice is associated with an increase in the transport of neurotoxin into the brain.

In nucleation theories, the work of formation of a nucleus is often denoted by W = ΔG. This convention misleads that the nucleation should be considered in the isothermal-isobaric system. However, the pressure in the system with a nucleus is no longer uniform due to Laplace’s equation. Instead, the chemical potential is uniform throughout the system for the critical nucleus. Therefore, one can consider the nucleation in the grand ensemble properly. Accordingly, W is found to be the grand potential difference and the interfacial tension is also turned to be an interfacial excess grand potential. This treatment is not entirely new;however, to explicitly treat in the grand potential formalism is for the first time. We have successfully given an overwhelmingly clear description.

In a previous study, structure of silica gels prepared in a high magnetic field was investigated. While a direct application of such anisotropic silica gels is for an optical anisotropic medium possessing chemical resistance, we show here their possibility of medium in materials processing. In this direction, for example, silica hydrogels have so far been used as media of crystal growth. In this paper, as opposed to the soft-wet state, dried silica gels have been investigated. We have found that lead （II） nanocrystallites were formed induced by electron irradiation to lead （ll）-doped dried Hydrogels made from a sodium metasilicate solution doped with silica gels prepared in a high magnetic field such as B = 10 T. lead （II） acetate were prepared. The dried specimens were irradiated by electrons in a transmission electron microscope environment. Electron diffraction patterns indicated the crystallinity of lead （II） nanocrystallites depending on B. An advantage of this processing technique is that the crystallinity can be controlled through the strength of magnetic field B applied during gel preparation. Specific skills are not required to control the strength of magnetic field.

To investigated characteristics, diagnosis, bowel-cleansing preparation, sedation, and colonoscope length and diameter in Japanese pediatric patients receiving total colonoscopy. METHODSThe present study evaluated consecutive patients aged ≤ 15 years who had undergone their first colonoscopy in Kurume University between January 2007 and February 2015. Data were retrospectively analyzed. We identified 110 pediatric patients who had undergone colonoscopy that had reached the cecum, allowing the observation of the total colon. RESULTSHematochezia, abdominal pain, and diarrhea were the most common symptoms. For bowel-cleansing preparation, pediatric patients aged ≤ 12 years were treated with magnesium citrate, and patients aged 13-15 years were treated with polyethylene glycol 4000. For sedation, thiamylal with pentazocine, which has an analgesic effect, was used in patients aged ≤ 6 years, and midazolam with pentazocine was used in patients aged ≥ 7 years. Regarding the choice of endoscope, short and thin endoscopes were selected for younger patients, particularly patients aged ≤ 3 years. Positive diagnoses were made in 78 patients (70.9%). Inflammatory bowel disease (n = 49, 44.5%), including ulcerative colitis (n = 37, 33.6%) and Crohn’s disease (n = 12, 10.9%), was the most common diagnosis. CONCLUSIONColonoscopy offers a high diagnostic capability for pediatric patients with gastrointestinal symptoms. The selection of appropriate management the performance of colonoscopy is important in pediatric patients.

Carbon dioxide capture and reduction(CCR)process emerges as an efficient catalytic strategy for CO_(2)capture and conversion to valuable chemicals.K-promoted Cu/Al_(2)O_(3)catalysts exhibited promising CO_(2)capture efficiency and highly selective conversion to syngas(CO+H_(2)).The dynamic nature of the Cu-K system at reaction conditions complicates the identification of the catalytically active phase and surface *** present work aims at more precise understanding of the roles of the potassium and copper and the contribution of the metal oxide ***γ-Al_(2)O_(3)guarantees high dispersion and destabilisation of the potassium phase,potassium and copper act synergistically to remove CO_(2)from diluted streams and promote fast regeneration of the active phase for CO_(2)capture releasing CO while passing H_(2).A temperature of 350℃is found necessary to activate H_(2)dissociation and generate the active sites for CO_(2)*** effects of synthesis parameters on the CCR activity are also described by combination of ex-situ characterisation of the materials and catalytic testing.

Beijing is a typical traditional city in China,originating from the uniform and conventional grid plan,but transformed diversely,either on purpose or *** research took the diversification process of grid blocks as an angle to understand the transformation process of Beijing’s urban *** took 194 grid blocks within the 3rd Ring Road of Beijing as research ***,the paper proposed a whole view of Beijing’s grid blocks by 1)visualizing their construction process,2)classifying 5 morphological clusters by 7 indicators(Block size,Block shape regularity,Intensity,Coverage,Network density,Plot shape regularity,Standard deviation of plot size),and 3)investigating their ***,the diversification process of grid blocks was clarified from two layers:the block-boundary layer and the inner-space ***,the mechanism of block form diversification was clarified by exploring the connections between elements in each layer,and the influence of urban development on block form *** study re-defined the diversification process in a more quantitative way from both time and spatial *** concluded that the diversification is influenced by changes in urban planning principles and locations,and emerged thorough the long-term transformation and *** interaction between the boundary and the inner space stimulates the *** based on these,it concluded with a discussion of limitations and potentials on grid blocks’construction and renovation.

Controlling Li ion transport in glasses at atomic and molecular levels is key to realizing all-solid-state batteries,a promising technology for electric *** this context,Li_(3)PS_(4)glass,a promising solid electrolyte candidate,exhibits dynamic coupling between the Li^(+)cation mobility and the PS_(4)^(3-)anion libration,which is commonly referred to as the paddlewheel *** addition,it exhibits a concerted cation diffusion effect(i.e.,a cation-cation interaction),which is regarded as the essence of high Li ion ***,the correlation between the Li^(+)ions within the glass structure can only be vaguely determined,due to the limited experimental information that can be ***,this study reports that the Li ions present in glasses can be classified by evaluating their valence oscillations via Bader analysis to topologically analyze the chemical *** is found that three types of Li ions are present in Li_(3)PS_(4)glass,and that the more mobile Li ions(i.e.,the Li3-type ions)exhibit a characteristic correlation at relatively long distances of ***,reverse Monte Carlo simulations combined with deep learning potentials that reproduce X-ray,neutron,and electron diffraction pair distribution functions showed an increase in the number of Li3-type ions for partially crystallized glass structures with improved Li ion transport *** results show order within the disorder of the Li ion distribution in the glass by a topological analysis of their ***,considering the molecular vibrations in the glass during the evaluation of the Li ion valences is expected to lead to the development of new solid electrolytes.

Thermoelectrics has played a fascinating role in the developments of direct energy conversion *** the past decade,sulfur-based thermoelectric materials have been significantly advanced in optimizing electrical and thermal transport due to their similarities in chemical and structural properties with tellurides and *** review provides research progress on metal sulfides,particularly focuses on materials exhibiting high thermoelectric figure of merit(ZT>1.0).It highlights the potential compounds,***-S,Sn-S,Pb-S based,and *** strategies of superionic conducting,band configuration tuning,high-entropy alloying,and anomalous harmonic scattering are try to demonstrate the performance-improved mechanisms for thermoelectric *** addition,some common synthesis recipes are briefly introduced,and thereby making potential candidates as excellent alternatives for producing thermoelectric power generators in the mid *** outcomes along with how to further improve the thermoelectric performance and promote its scale-up applications are also outlined at the end.

What does it mean to study PDE (Partial Differential Equation)? How and what to do “to claim proudly that I’m studying a certain PDE”? Newton mechanic uses mainly ODE (Ordinary Differential Equation) and describes nicely movements of Sun, Moon and Earth etc. Now, so-called quantum phenomenum is described by, say Schrödinger equation, PDE which explains both wave and particle characters after quantization of ODE. The coupled Maxwell-Dirac equation is also “quantized” and QED (Quantum Electro-Dynamics) theory is invented by physicists. Though it is said this QED gives very good coincidence between theoretical1 and experimental observed quantities, but what is the equation corresponding to QED? Or, is it possible to describe QED by “equation” in naive sense?
