For Mn substituted LiMnxFe1-xPO4 synthesized by hydrothermal process, the structural differences caused by Mn substitution were characterized by SEM, ICP, XRD, XAFS, and FT-IR. In this study, by using XAFS advantageous to the atomic selectivity, the local structure of MeO6 octahedral was investigated. From ICP, Mn composition in the products was similar to Mn addition amount, and the peak shifts of XRD patterns with increasing Mn addition were observed. The lattice constants refined by Rietveld analysis were a = 1.0338 ± 5 nm, b = 0.5995 ± 4 nm and c = 0.4696 ± 1 nm in LiFePO4, and it was expanded linearly with increasing Mn addition. Fe-O bond distance, which was calculated by curve fitting of the radius distribution function of LiMnxFe1-xPO4, was 0.208 nm smaller than 0.214 nm of Mn-O bond. In addition, MeO6 octahedral expansion was affected to PO4 vibrational structure from FT-IR spectra.

＜正＞ This study is to utilize a hydrothermal hot-pressing technique and prepare hydroxyapatite ceramics. The starting powder OCP （Ca8H2（PO4）6-5H2O） and ammonia water were heated to 300℃at a rate of 10℃/min, and sintered under 40MPa for 2h . The effects of the amount and concentration of ammonia water were investigated. The results show that OCP reacted with NH4OH and produced HAp;the high concentration of ammonia water is advantageous for the solidification of the ceramics. The density, fracture toughness, and tensile strength of the ceramics that prepared with 10% high concentration ammonia water reach 2.82g/cm3, 1.07MPam1/2, and 18.2MPa, respectively.

Effect of SiO2 addition on the microstructures of calcium-deficient hydroxyapatite prepared by the heat-treatments was examined. Obtained hydroxyapatites substituted with Si ion were characterized by XRD, FT-IR and XAFS measurements. XANES results of Si K-edge and P K-edge in these modified hydroxyapatites indicated the shift of peaks of P K-edge with the SiO2 contents, although no change of Si local structures. In this study, the effect of Si ion on micro- and local structure of hydroxyapatite with SiO2 addition was mainly clarified.

The fabrication of sintered diamond/metal composites bodies composed of diamond filler with the average particle size of 15 μm to 30 μm and metal binder (Ag-Cu-Ti system brazing) was attempted by powder metallurgical sintering process at 700℃ to 1000?C in vacuum atmosphere. As a result, dense bulks of sintered diamond/metal composites were obtained by this powder metallurgical sintering process. The increase of sintering temperatures from 750℃ to 950℃ and of pressure enhanced the density of sintered diamond/metal composites during the hot-pressing in vacuum. All bulks prepared at the temperatures of 750?C to 950℃ were composed of diamond phase and Ag-Cu-Ti system brazing without any other phase for sintered bulks for diamond/metal composites. Furthermore, some properties were evaluated for sintered diamond/metal composites.

Purpose: Surfactant proteins exist in the digestive tract and may play an important role in the host defense. However, the expression of surfactant proteins in the premature digestive system remains unclear. The aim of this study was to investigate the expression of surfactant proteins in the intes-tines and pancreas of murine fetuses. Methods: Immunostaining for SP-A and SP-D was assessed in the small intestine and pancreas of ICR murine fetuses on days 15, 16, 17 and 18 of gestation (normal duration of pregnancy: 19 - 21 days). RT-PCR was performed to detect the expression of spa and spd mRNA in the small intestine and pancreas on day 16, 17 and 18 of gestation. Results: Immunoreactivity for SP-A and SP-D in the acinar cells of pancreas and intestinal mucosal surface were positive on day 16 of gestation onward. RT-PCR revealed that the expression of spa and spd mRNA was significant in the pancreas but weak in the small intestine. Conclusions: Our data revealed that surfactant proteins are present in the fetal intestines and pancreas and that a significant expression of spa and spd mRNA is detected in the fetal pancreas. Pancreas may be a possible organ involved in the synthesis and secretion of surfactant proteins into the intestinal lumen.
