Hot snare polypectomy vs endoscopic mucosal resection using bipolar snare for intermediate size colorectal lesions:Propensity score matching

BACKGROUND Endoscopic resection(ER)with bipolar snare,in which the electric current only passes through the tissue between the device’s two electrodes,is a prominent method used to prevent perforation due to electricity *** using bipolar snare with or without submucosal injection enabled safe resection of colorectal lesions measuring 10-15 mm in an ex vivo porcine *** with bipolar snare is expected to have good treatment outcomes in 10-15 mm colorectal lesions,with high safety even without submucosal ***,no clinical reports have compared treatment outcomes with and without submucosal *** To compare the treatment outcomes of bipolar polypectomy with hot snare polypectomy(HSP)to those with endoscopic mucosal resection(EMR).METHODS In this single-centre retrospective study,we enrolled 10-15 mm nonpedunculated colorectal lesions(565 Lesions in 463 patients)diagnosed as type 2A based on the Japan Narrow-band Imaging Expert Team classification,resected by either HSP or EMR between January 2018 and June 2021 at the National Cancer Center Hospital *** were divided into HSP and EMR groups,and propensity score matching was *** the matched cohort,en bloc and R0 resection rates and adverse events were compared between the two *** Of the 565 lesions in 463 patients,117 lesions each in the HSP and EMR groups were selected after propensity score *** the original cohort,there was a significant difference in antithrombotic drug use(P<0.05),lesion size(P<0.01),location(P<0.01),and macroscopic type(P<0.05)between the HSP and EMR *** the matched cohort,the en bloc resection rates were comparable between both groups[93.2%(109/117)vs 92.3%(108/117),P=0.81],and there was no significant difference in the R0 resection rate[77.8%(91/117)vs 80.3%(94/117),P=0.64].The incidence of delayed bleeding was similar in both groups[1.7%(2/117)].Perforation occurred in the EMR group[0.9%(1/117)]but not in the HSP ***

Numerical Simulation of Sand Erosion Phenomena in Rotor/Stator Interaction of Compressor

Sand erosion is a phenomenon where solid particles impinging to a wall cause serious mechanical damages to the wall surface. This phenomenon is a typical gas-particle two-phase turbulent flow and a multi-physics problem where the flow field, particle trajectory and wall deformation interact with each other. On the other hand, aircraft engines operating in a particulate environment are subjected to the performance and lifetime deterioration due to sand erosion. Especially, the compressor of the aircraft engines is severely damaged. The flow fields of the compressor have strongly three dimensional and unsteady natures. In order to estimate the deterioration due to sand erosion, the sand erosion simulation for a compressor is required under the consideration of the rotor-stator interaction. In the present study, we apply our three dimensional sand erosion prediction code to a single stage axial flow compressor. We numerically investigate the change of the flow field, the particle trajectories, and the eroded wall shape in the compressor, to clarify the effects of sand erosion in the compressor.

3D Computation of Hydrogen-Fueled Combustion around Turbine Blade-Effect of Arrangement of Injector Holes

Recently, a number of environmental problems caused from fossil fuel combustion have been focused on. In addition, with the eventual depletion of fossil energy resources, hydrogen gas is expected to be an alternative energy resource in the near future. It is characterized by high energy per unit weight, high reaction rate, wide range of flammability and the low emission property. On the other hand, many researches have been underway in several countries to improve a propulsion system for an advanced aircraft. The system is required to have higher power, lighter weight and lower emissions than existing ones. In such a future propulsion system, hydrogen gas would be one of the promising fuels for realizing the requirements. Considering these backgrounds, our group has proposed a new cycle concept for hydrogen-fueled aircraft propulsion system. In the present study, we perform 3 dimensional computations of turbulent flow fields with hydrogen-fueled combustion around a turbine blade. The main objective is to clarify the influence of arrangement of hydrogen injector holes. Changing the chordwise and spanwise spacings of the holes, the 3 dimensional nature of the flow and thermal fields is numerically studied.

Numerical Simulation of Tip Leakage Vortex Effect on Hydrogen-Combustion Flow around 3D Turbine Blade

In these years, a lot of environmental problems such as air pollution and exhaustion of fossil fuels have been discussed intensively. In our laboratory, a hydrogen-fueled propulsion system has been researched as an alternative to conventional systems. A hydrogen-fueled propulsion system is expected to have higher power, lighter weight and lower emissions. However, for the practical use, there exist many problems that must be overcome. Considering these backgrounds, jet engines with hydrogen-fueled combustion within a turbine blade passage have been studied. Although some studies have been made on injecting and burning hydrogen fuel from a stator surface, little is known about the interaction between a tip leakage vortex near the suction side of a rotor tip and hydrogen-fueled combustion. The purpose of this study is to clarify the influence of the tip leakage vortex on the characteristics of the 3-dimensional flow field with hydrogen-fueled combustion within a turbine blade passage. Reynolds-averaged compressible Navier-Stokes equations are solved with incorporating a k-ε turbulence and a reduced chemical mechanism models. Using the computational results, the 3-dimensional turbulent flow field with chemical reactions is numerically visualized, and the three-dimensional turbulent flow fields with hydrogen combustion and the structure of the tip leakage vortex are investigated.

The Study of Latent Heat Transport Characteristics by Solid Particles and Saccharide Solution Mixtures

The purpose of this study is the development of latent heat transport system by using the mixture of the minute latent heat storage materials and the saccharine solution as medium. The experimental studies are carried out by the evaluation of viscosity and pressure loss in a pipe. Polyethylene (P.E.) is selected as the dispersed minute material that has closeness density (920kg/m3) of ice (917kg/m3). D-sorbitol and D-xylose solutions are picked as continuum phase of the test mixture. The concentration of D-sorbitol solution is set 48mass% from measured results of saturation solubility and the melting point. 40mass% solution of D-xylose is selected as the other test continuum phase. The non-ion surfactant, EA157 Dai-ichiseiyaku CO. Ltd, is used in order to prevent of dispersed P.E. powder cohere. The pressure loss of test mixture is measured by the straight circular pipe that has smooth inner surface. The measuring length for pressure loss is 1000 mm, and the inner diameter of pipe is 15mm. The accuracy of experiment apparatus for measuring pressure loss is within ±5%. The pressure loss data is estimated by the relationship between the heat transport ratio and the required pump power. It is clarified that the optimum range of mixing ratio exists over 10mass% of latent heat storage material.

Electron scattering by Friedel oscillations in carbon nanotubes

Multi-walled carbon nanotube networks were confirmed to exhibit a linear decrease in resistivity with increasing temperature from 100 to above 400 *** linearity was explained using a defect scattering model that involved Friedel oscillations(that is,electron-electron interactions).The applicability of this model,which was originally proposed for graphene,to carbon nanotubes was assessed based on a comparison of various experimental *** in the slopes of the resistivity-temperature plots following the introduction of defects,as well as an effect of charge concentration on the slope were key predictions of this *** results obtained from few-walled carbon nanotube networks are also *** the literature,linear resistivity-temperature plots were obtained from other graphene derivatives,indicating that the linearity originates from the hexagonal symmetry of these *** present work also indicated a relationship between the appearance of linearity and negative magnetoresistance above 100 *** on a mechanism incorporating scattering in association with Friedel oscillations and conventional electron conduction models,the universality of resistivity-temperature plots obtained from carbon nanotube networks is introduced.

Preparation of Lanthanum Nickel Oxide-Coated Ni Sheet Anodes and Their Application to Electrolytic Production of (CF_3)_3N in (CH_3)_4NF·4.0HF Melt

A new process for electrolytic production of a perfluorinated compound, （CF3）3N, using lanthanum nickel oxide-coated Ni sheet anode in the （CH3）4NF· 4.0HF melt at room temperature, was developed. Thin films of the lanthanum nickel oxides were prepared on Ni sheets by sol-gel coating method using polyvinlylpyrrolidone（PVP）. The main components of the thin films were La2O3, LaNiO3, and La2NiO4 at 500, 750 and 1000℃, respectively. The anode performance in the （CH3）4NF·4.0HF melt depends greatly on the main component of the thin film, and the LaNiO3-coated Ni sheet anode gives the best anode performance. The potential of LaNiO3-coated Ni sheet anode remains constant at 5.9 V during electrolysis at 20 mA·cm^-2 in the （CH3）4NF·4.0HF melt for 100 h. This is because LaNiO3 and NiF3 and/or Ni2F5, the latter of which was formed during electrolysis, in the film give a high electronic conductivity to the surface film during electrolysis. The maximum mole fraction of （CF3）3N （21.4%） was obtained at 20 mA·cm^-2 in （CH3）4NF·4.0HF melt using the LaNiO3-coated Ni sheet.

Heat Transfer Efficiency Evaluation for Outward and Inward Multi-Flame-Hole Gas Burner

The purpose of this study is to understand the factor that influence the heating efficiency of the outward and inward multi-hole gas burner. The flame-hole angle and the distance from flame hole to heating object are chosen as the experimental parameters. The measurement of the flame temperature distribution is carried out on each experimental condition. The observation of combustion flame, by the Schlieren method, is done from the purpose to understand the combustion phenomenon on the heating efficiency. LPG (Liquefied petroleum gas) is used for the test fuel gas. The compositions of LPG are propane 97.5vol%, butane 0.2vol% and methane + ethylene 2.3vol%. The optimum ranges of the flame-hole angle and the distance from flame hole to heating object are clarified. The experimental correlation equations for the outward and inward multi-flame-hole gas burner are proposed.
