An ultrasonic evaluation method of echo feature of diffusion bond joint between two dissimilar materials is presented. The echo signal was acquired by an automatic ultrasonic C-scan test system. It is found that the intensity of echo and its phase can be used to evaluate the joint quality, and interface products of dissimilar materials bonding can be evaluated by ultrasonic method.

Strength of welded joints of high chromium steels is one of the important concerns for fabricators and operators of ultra supercritical thermal power plants. A number of creep as well as creep-fatigue tests with tensile hold have been carried out on the welded joints of two types of high chromium steels widely used in Japan, i.e. Grade 91 and 122 steels. It was found that failure occurred in fine grain heat-affected zone in all the creep-fatigue tests, even at a relatively low temperature and fairly short time where failure occurred in plain base metal region in simple creep testing. Four procedures were used to predict failure lives and their results were compared with the test results. A newly proposed energy-based approach gave the best estimation of failure life, without respect of the material and temperature.

Prostate cancer is one of the most common diseases in men ***,radiation therapy,and hormonal therapy are effective treatments for early-stage prostate ***,the development of castration-resistant prostate cancer has increased the mortality rate of prostate *** develop novel drugs for castration-resistant prostate cancer,the molecular mechanisms of prostate cancer progression must be *** the signaling pathways regulating prostate cancer development,recent studies have revealed the importance of noncanonical wingless-type MMTV integration site family(WNT)signaling pathways,mainly that involving WNT5A,in prostate cancer progression and metastasis;however,its role remains ***,chromatin remodelers such as the switch/sucrose nonfermentable(SWI/SNF)complex and chromodomain helicase DNA-binding proteins 1 also play important roles in prostate cancer progression through genome-wide gene expression ***,we review the roles of noncanonical WNT signaling pathways,chromatin remodelers,and epigenetic enzymes in the development and progression of prostate cancer.

The interaction between a solute atom and an extended dislocation was investigated using a continuum approximation method with force *** dislocation core structure of extended dislocation was modeled with the Peierls-Nabarro model discretized with a number of infinitesimal Volterra *** interaction energy and force between a nickel solute atom and perfect and extended dislocation in copper were successfully calculated using the force *** results clearly show that the core structure of extended dislocation weakens the interaction with solute *** interaction energy and force for extended dislocations are almost the half of those for perfect dislocations.

A discrete dislocation plasticity analysis of dispersion strengthening in oxide dispersion strengthened(ODS) steels was described. Parametric dislocation dynamics(PDD) simulation of the interaction between an edge dislocation and randomly distributed spherical dispersoids(Y2O3) in bcc iron was performed for measuring the influence of the dispersoid distribution on the critical resolved shear stress(CRSS). The dispersoid distribution was made using a method mimicking the Ostwald growth mechanism. Then, an edge dislocation was introduced, and was moved under a constant shear stress condition. The CRSS was extracted from the result of dislocation velocity under constant shear stress using the mobility(linear) relationship between the shear stress and the dislocation velocity. The results suggest that the dispersoid distribution gives a significant influence to the CRSS, and the influence of dislocation dipole, which forms just before finishing up the Orowan looping mechanism, is substantial in determining the CRSS, especially for the interaction with small dispersoids. Therefore, the well-known Orowan equation for determining the CRSS cannot give an accurate estimation, because the influence of the dislocation dipole in the process of the Orowan looping mechanism is not accounted for in the equation.

We shall introduce a new geometric constant A（X） of a Banach space X, which is closely related to the modulus of smoothness px （T）, and investigate it in relation with the constant As （X） by Baronti et al., the von Neumann-Jordan constant CNj（X） and the James constant J（X）. A sequence of recent results on these constants as well as some other geometric constants will be strengthened and improved.
