Is triglyceride to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio a surrogates for insulin resistance in youth?

As elevated triglyceride (TG) to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) ratio has been described as predictor for cardio metabolic disease with insulin resistance (IR) in the background, the aim was to assess the relationship between this ratio and IR in youth. Oral glucose tolerance test was performed in 318 Brazilian students (175 girls, 11.2 ± 3.2 years, BMI_z-score 1.2 ± 1.4 SD). Measurements: BMI, waist circumference (WC), blood pressure (BP), lipids, insulin and high sensitivity Creactive protein (hsCRP). Excessive weight and abdominal obesity were defined using BMI_z-score and WC and IR by Homeostasis model assessment-insulin resistance (HOMA-IR). TG/HDL-C median was 2.37. There was an association between TG/ HDL-C and WC, systolic and diastolic BP, insulin, HOMA-IR, hsCRP, (p < 0.001). Stratified TG/HDL-C into two groups, based on a cut off point of 2.73 (Group 1: <2.73 and Group 2: ≥2.73). Ad- justing for age, gender, ethnicity TG/HDL-C was an independent variable predicting IR (PR = 1.44;CI: 1.07 - 1.96;p = 0.018). For every 1 (cm) in WC increased there was an addition of 0.04 of the value of TG/HDL-C and in those with TG/HDL-C ≥ 2.73 for every 10 (cm) increase in WC there was an improve of 4% in the ratio. In conclusion: In youth, the TG/HDL-C ratio could be a useful index for identifying groups with IR.

We conducted the first light curve study of the binary star EL Tuc within the Binary Systems of South and North project's *** photometric observations were made using standard multiband BVR_cI_c filters at an observatory in *** presented a new ephemeris for EL Tuc and a linear fit to the O–C diagram,utilizing our extracted times of minima and additional *** employed the PHysics Of Eclipsing BinariEs Python code and the Markov chain Monte Carlo approach for the system's light curve *** target system's light curve solution required a cold starspot on the hotter *** conclude that EL Tuc is a total contact binary system with a low mass ratio of q=0.172±0.002,an orbital inclination of i=83°.74±0°.40,and a fillout factor of f=53.7%±1.6%.We used the P-a relationship and the Gaia Data Release 3 parallax method to determine the absolute parameters of EL Tuc to compare the precision of our *** system was classified as W-type based on the mass and effective temperature of the companion *** positions of the systems were depicted on the M-L,M-R,T-M,and *** relationship between the spectroscopic and photometric mass ratios of binaries was discussed.

3D navigation within a 3D-GIS environment is increasingly getting more popular and spreading to various *** thelast decade,especially after the 9/11 disaster,evacuating the complex and tall buildings of today in case of emergencyhas been an important research area for *** of the current navigation systems are still in the 2D environmentand that is insufficient to visualize 3D objects and to obtain satisfactory solutions for the 3D ***,there is currently still a lack of implementation of 3D network analysis and navigation for indoor spaces in respect *** objective of this paper is to investigate and implement 3D visualization and navigation techniques andsolutions for indoor spaces within *** realizing this,we have proposed a GIS implementation that is capable ofcarrying out 3D visualization of a building model stored in the CityGML format and perform analysis on a networkmodel stored in Oracle *** proposed GUI also provides routing simulation on the calculated shortest paths withvoice commands and visual instructions.

In this paper,an experimental model of a horizontal cantilever beam with a rotating/oscillating attached to the shaker for harmonic excitation at the one end and a gyrostabilizer at the other end is built to verify the equations of the Lagrangian *** primary focus of the study was to investigate the parameters of excitation amplitude,natural frequency,rotating mass(disk mass),and disk speed of gyro that would minimize the amplitude of the beam to identify these *** and experimental results indicate that the angular momentum of the gyrostabilizer is the most effective parameter in the reduction of beam displacement.

The protective effect of rutin and quercetin on 5-FU-induced hepatotoxicity in rats

Objective: To investigate the effects of quercetin(Q) and rutin on 5-fluorouracil(5-FU)-induced ***: The control group was corn oil. The 5-FU group rats were corn oil and injected intraperitoneal 5-FU 50 mg/kg. Groups rutin 50 + 5-FU and rutin 100 + 5-FU were respectively 50 mg/kg and 100 mg/kg rutin. These groups were given 5-FU(50 mg/kg) in the 18th day. The group rutin 100 was rutin(100 mg/kg i.g.). Groups Q50 + 5-FU and Q100 + 5-FU were respectively 50 mg/kg and 100 mg/kg quercetin. These groups were given 5-FU(50 mg/kg) in the 18th day of quercetin application. The group Q100 was quercetin(100 mg/kg i.g.). In the end of experimental applications, blood was collected from anesthetized ***: The MDA level was significantly higher in the 5-FU group compared with control group, and determined to be decreased in other groups. GPx and GSH levels were significantly decreased in the 5-FU group compared to the control, rutin 100 + 5-FU and Q100 + 5-FU groups. AST, ALT, LDH and ALP levels in the serum were significantly increased in the 5-FU group compared with the other groups. The results from this analysis show that while the caspase-3 level increases in the 5-FU group, it decreases in the Q50 + 5-FU, Q100 + 5-FU, rutin 50 + 5-FU and rutin 100 + 5-FU groups. Bcl-2 level decreased in the 5-FU group compared to the control group, but increased in the rutin 100 + 5-FU, Q50 + 5-FU and Q100 + 5-FU ***: In this study it was determined that the rutin and Q have protective effects on 5-FU-induced hepatotoxicity.

Reviewing the empirical and theoretical parameter relationships between various parameters is a good way to understand more about contact binary *** this investigation,two-dimensional(2D)relationships for P–MV(system),P–L1,2,M1,2–L1,2,and q–Lratiowere *** sample used is related to 118 contact binary systems with an orbital period shorter than 0.6 days whose absolute parameters were estimated based on the Gaia Data Release 3 *** reviewed previous studies on 2D relationships and updated six parameter ***,Markov chain Monte Carlo and Machine Learning methods were used,and the outcomes were *** selected 22 contact binary systems from eight previous studies for comparison,which had light curve solutions using spectroscopic *** results show that the systems are in good agreement with the results of this study.

AIM:To determine the relationship of pulmonary abnormalities and bowel disease activity in inflammatory bowel disease(IBD).METHODS:Thirty ulcerative colitis(UC)and nine Crohn's disease patients,and 20 control subjects were enrolled in this prospective *** clinical information was *** and activity of the bowel disease were established *** patient underwent pulmonary function tests and high-resolution computed tomography(HRCT).Blood samples for measurement of C-reactive protein(CRP),erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR),angiotensin converting enzyme and total IgE were delivered by the ***:Ten(25.6%)patients had respiratory symptoms.A pulmonary function abnormality was present in 22 of 39 *** all patients,the most prevalent abnormalities in lung functions were a decrease in forced expiratory volume in 1 s(FEV1),FEV1/forced vital capacity(FVC),forced expiratory flow(FEF)25%-75%,transfer coefficient for carbon monoxide(DLCO),DLCO/alveolar *** respiratory symptoms score was associated with high endoscopic activity index in UC *** and clinical activities in UC patients were correlated with FEV1,FEV1/FVC,and FEF 25%-75%.Smoking status,duration of disease and medication were not correlated with pulmonary physiological test results,HRCT abnormalities,clinical/endoscopic disease activity,CRP,ESR or total IgE level or body mass ***:It is important that respiratory manifestations are recognized and treated early in ***,they can lead to destructive and irreversible changes in the airway wall.
