Kinetic adsorption of application of carbon nanotubes for Pb(Ⅱ) removal from aqueous solution

The capability of carbon nanotubes （CNTs） to adsorb lead （Pb） in aqueous solution was investigated. Batch mode adsorption experiment was conducted to determine the effects of pH, agitation speed, CNTs dosage and contact time. The removal of Pb（II） reached maximum value 85% or 83% at pH 5 or 40 mg/L of CNTs, respectively. Higher correlation coefficients from Langmuir isotherm model indicates the strong adsorptions of Pb（II） on the surface of CNTs （adsorption capacity Xm = 102.04 mg/g）. The results indicates that the highest percentage removal of Pb （96.03%） can be achieved at pH 5, 40 mg/L of CNTs, contact time 80 min, and agitation speed 50 r/min.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the physical properties and bioactivity potential of epoxy-based dental sealers modified with synthesized bioactive glass(BAG),hydroxyapatite(HA)and fluorine substituted hydroxyapatite(FHA)*** synthesized powders were incorporated at 10%and 20%into the epoxy-based dental *** setting time,flow and solubility and microhardness of the modified and unmodified samples were *** bioactivity was evaluated using FESEM-EDX and elemental mapping,ATR-FTIR and *** flow value of all of the experimental groups except the FHA modified samples,was greater than 20 *** solubility,no specimens exhibited more than 1%weight *** solubility value of the FHA groups was statistically significant lower than other groups(p≤0.001).The mean hardness values of all of the modified samples were significantly higher than the unmodified group(p≤0.001).Regarding bioactivity,in vitro study revealed that after 3 days immersion in SBF a compact and continuous calcium phosphate layer formed on the surface of epoxy sealers containing BAG and HA *** on these results,the addition of BAG and HA nanoparticles did not adversely alter the physical properties of epoxy ***,they improved the in vitro bioactivity of the epoxy sealer.

Pathogenesis of chronic myeloid leukemia(CML)has mostly been studied with regard to the oncogenic role of BCR/ABL fusion,however,recent disclosures have declared that the challenges with the treatment of CML patients would not be resolved until the role of other aberrancies is *** the involvement of cyclin-dependent kinases(CDKs)in the pathogenesis of CML,the present study aimed to investigate the effects of a multi-CDK inhibitor AT7519 on BCR/ABL-harboring CML-derived K562 *** results showed that AT7519 effectively reduced the survival of K562 and induced its anti-proliferative effect through the induction of G2/M arrest due to elevated p21 and *** resulting data also revealed that either direct or indirect suppression of c-Myc using specific c-Myc inhibitor 10058-F4 and selective PI3K inhibitor CAL-101 resulted in a superior cytotoxicity,suggesting that the activation of PI3K pathway could attenuate antileukemic effects of the inhibitor,at least partly,through a c-Mycdependent *** the best of our knowledge,to date,no study has addressed the effect of autophagy on CML cell response to AT7519,and,herein,we proposed for the first time that the suppression of autophagy boosted AT7519 cytotoxicity against ***,we suggested that selective CDK inhibitor AT7519 exerted antileukemic effect against CML cells and propose a novel therapeutic application for the inhibitor either as a single agent or in combination with c-Myc and/or PI3K inhibitors.

During the last few years we have witnessed impressive developments in the area of stochastic local search techniques for intelligent optimization and Reactive Search Optimization. In order to handle the complexity, in the framework of stochastic local search optimization, learning and optimization has been deeply interconnected through interaction with the decision maker via the visualization approach of the online graphs. Consequently a number of complex optimization problems, in particular multiobjective optimization problems, arising in widely different contexts have been effectively treated within the general framework of RSO. In solving real-life multiobjective optimization problems often most emphasis are spent on finding the complete Pareto-optimal set and less on decision-making. However the com-plete task of multiobjective optimization is considered as a combined task of optimization and decision-making. In this paper, we suggest an interactive procedure which will involve the decision-maker in the optimization process helping to choose a single solution at the end. Our proposed method works on the basis of Reactive Search Optimization (RSO) algorithms and available software architecture packages. The procedure is further compared with the excising novel method of Interactive Multiobjective Optimization and Decision-Making, using Evolutionary method (I-MODE). In order to evaluate the effectiveness of both methods the well-known study case of welded beam design problem is reconsidered.

In this paper, a multi-objective load shedding framework on the power system is presented. The frame work is useable in any kind of smart power systems;the word of smart here refers to the availability of data transmission infrastructure (like PLC or power line carrier) in the system, in order to carry the system data to the load shedding framework. This is an open framework that means it can optimize load shedding problem by considering unlimited number of objective functions, in other word, the number of objectives can be as much as the operator decides, finally in the end of frame work just one matrix breaker state is chosen in a way of having the most compatibility with the operator ideas which are determined by objectives importance percentage which are one input groups of the framework. A two-stage methodology is used for the optimal load shedding problem. In the first stage, Discrete Multi-objective Particle Swarm Optimization method is used to find a collection of the best states of load shedding (Pareto front). In the second stage, the fuzzy logic is used as a Pareto front inference engine. Fuzzy selection algorithm (FSA) is designed in a way that it can infer according to the operator’s opinion without the expert interference that means rule base is formed automatically by fuzzy algorithm. FSA is consisted of two parts. Membership functions and rules base are formed automatically in the first part, the former in accordance with the costs of Pareto front particles and the latter in correspondence with importance percentage of objectives which are entered to FSA by operator;in other word, decision matrix is formed automatically in the algorithm according to the cost of Pareto front particles and importance percentage of objectives. In the Second part, Mamdani inference engine scrutinizes the Pareto front particles by the use of formed membership functions and rules base to know if they are compatible to operator’s opinion or not. Carbon nanotubes as nanosensor were synthesized on the surface of the silver electrode using floating catalyst chemical vapor deposition reactor. Acetylene gas was used as a carbon source, ferrocene as a source of the iron nanocatalyst and hydrogen as a carrier and an activate agent. Several runs were performed to find the optimum conditions that produce sensitive Ag-CNTs electrodes. The electrodes obtained at each run were characterized by SEM. The optimum conditions that produce sensitive Ag-CNTs were found to be at a reaction time of 15 minutes, reaction temperature of 700°C, hydrogen flow rate of 25 ml/min and an acetylene flow rate of 75 ml/min. These optimum conditions were confirmed from the normal behavior of the resulting Ag-CNTs electrodes in the titration of 10 μL of chloride using dc differential electrolytic potentiometry. When conditions that differ from the optimum ones were applied in the preparation of the Ag-CNTs electrodes, abnormal titration curves were obtained. The superiority of the Ag-CNTs electrodes was demonstrated by the successful applications of these electrodes as an indicating system in the micro titrations of different volumes of cyanide solution with silver nitrate reach. By applying this technique a volume of 1.2 μL sample of cyanide was successfully titrated. The normal behavior of the Ag-CNts electrodes was compared to that of the normal silver electrodes which exhibit an abnormal behavior.

Optical antennas play a pivotal role in interfacing integrated photonic circuits with free-space *** antennas for optical phased arrays ideally requires achieving compact antenna apertures,wide radiation angles,and high radiation efficiency all at once,which presents a significant ***,we experimentally demonstrate a novel ultra-compact silicon grating antenna,utilizing subwavelength grating nanostructures arranged in a transversally interleaved topology to control the antenna radiation *** near-field phase engineering,we increase the antenna’s far-field beam width beyond the Fraunhofer limit for a given aperture *** antenna incorporates a single-etch grating and a Bragg reflector implemented on a 300-nm-thick silicon-oninsulator(SOI)*** characterizations demonstrate a beam width of 44°×52°with−3.22 dB diffraction efficiency,for an aperture size of 3.4μm×1.78μ***,to the best of our knowledge,a novel topology of a 2D antenna array is demonstrated for the first time,leveraging evanescently coupled architecture to yield a very compact antenna *** validated the functionality of our antenna design through its integration into this new 2D array ***,we demonstrate a small proof-of-concept two-dimensional optical phased array with 2×4 elements and a wide beam steering range of 19.3º×39.7º.A path towards scalability and larger-scale integration is also demonstrated on the antenna array of 8×20 elements with a transverse beam steering of 31.4º.
