Estimating statistics of sky brightness using radio interferometric observations

Radio interferometers are used to construct high resolution images of the sky at radio frequencies and are the key instruments for accessing the statistical properties of the evolution of neutral hydrogen over cosmic time. Here we use simulated observations of the model sky to assess the efficacy of different estimators of the large-scale structure and power spectrum of the sky brightness distribution. We find that while the large-scale distribution can be reasonably estimated using the reconstructed image from interferometric data, estimates of the power spectrum of the intensity fluctuations calculated from the image are generally biased. This bias is found to be more pronounced for diffuse emission. The visibility based power spectrum estimator, however, gives an unbiased estimate of the true power spectrum. This work demonstrates that for an observation with diffuse emission the reconstructed image can be used to estimate the large-scale distribution of the intensity, while to estimate the power spectrum, visibility based methods should be *** the upcoming experiments aimed at measuring the evolution of the power spectrum of the neutral hydrogen distribution, this is a very important result.

[目的]探索自拟方甘草养阴汤(GNY)对咪喹莫特(IMQ)诱导的银屑病样皮肤损伤小鼠模型的疗效。[方法]将小鼠分为健康对照组、模型组(IMQ诱导银屑病小鼠)和治疗组(给予银屑病小鼠GNY,浓度为2.5、5 g/kg);共4组(动物数=8/组)。采用银屑病病灶面积和严重程度指数(PASI)、苏木-精伊红染色和Baker评分用于评估疾病的严重程度。采用免疫组织化学或免疫荧光染色法对真皮的Gr-1,CD11c,RORγt和TGF-β阳性的炎性细胞进行计数。采用流式细胞仪分析脾脏细胞中的CD4+IL-17+Th17细胞和CD4+CD25+Foxp3+Treg细胞比例。使用qPCR半定量IL-6、IL-10、IL-17A、IL-22、IL-23、TNF-α、TGF-β和AMPK-1的相对mRNA表达。[结果]与模型组相比,GNY治疗的小鼠在两种浓度下均能够改善了病灶的形态学特征,包括PASI评分和上皮角质细胞增生。较高浓度的GNY可显着降低银屑病小鼠模型真皮中的Gr-1,CD11c,RORγt和TGF-β阳性细胞比例;下调脾脏Th17细胞比例,增加Treg细胞的表达。此外,IMQ模型组小鼠的真皮内IL-6、IL-10、IL-17A、IL-22、IL-23、TNF-α、TGF-β和AMPKɑ1的相对mRNA表达升高,在以5 g/kg浓度的GNY治疗的模型小鼠中表达明显降低。[结论]研究表明GNY可改善IMQ诱导的小鼠银屑病样皮肤损伤表现、减轻炎症反应;为临床治疗银屑病提供依据。

Enantioselective assembly of multi-layer 3D chirality

The first enantioselective assembly of sandwich-shaped organo molecules has been achieved by conducting dual asymmetric Suzuki-Miyaura couplings and nine other reactions. This work also presents the first fully C-C anchored multi-layer 3 D chirality with optically pure enantiomers. As confirmed by X-ray diffraction analysis that this chiral framework is featured by a unique C2-symmetry in which a nearly parallel fashion consisting of three layers: top, middle and bottom aromatic rings. Unlike the documented planar or axial chirality, the present chirality shows its top and bottom layers restrict each other from free rotation, i.e., this multi-layer 3 D chirality would not exist if either top or bottom layer is removed. Nearly all multi-layered compounds showed strong luminescence of different colors under UV irradiation, and several randomly selected samples displayed aggregation-induced emission(AIE) properties. This work is believed to have broad impacts on chemical, medicinal and material sciences including optoelectronic materials in future.

Characterization of Size and Density Separated Fractions of a Bituminous Coal as a Feedstock for Entrained Slagging Gasification

Coal is one of the main sources of energy in many parts of the world and has one of the largest reserves/production ratios amongst all the non-renewable energy sources. Gasification of coal is one among the advanced technologies that has potential to be used in a carbon constrained economy. However, gasification availability at several commercial demonstrations had run into problems associated with fouling of syngas coolers due to unpredictable flyash formation and unburnt carbon losses. Computer models of gasifiers are emerging as a powerful tool to predict gasifier performance and reliability, without expensive testing. Most computer models used to simulate gasifiers tend to model coal as a homogenous entity based on bulk properties. However, coal is a heterogeneous material and comminution during feedstock preparation produces particle classes with different physical and chemical properties. It is crucial to characterize the heterogeneity of the feedstocks used by entrained flow gasifiers. To this end, a low ash US bituminous coal that could be used as a gasifier feedstock was segregated into density and size fractions to represent the major mineral matter distributions in the coal. Float and sink method and sieving were employed to partition the ground coal. The organic and inorganic content of all density fractions was characterized for particle size distribution, heating value, ultimate analysis, proximate analysis, mineral matter composition, ash composition, and petrographic components, while size fractions were characterized for heating value, ash composition, ultimate and proximate analysis. The proximate, ultimate and high heating value analysis showed that variation in these values is limited across the range of size fractions, while the heterogeneity is significant over the range of density fractions. The amyloid aggregation of peptides and proteins is a hallmark of neurological disorders and type 2 *** islet amyloid polypeptide(IAPP),co-secreted with insulin by pancreaticβ-cells,plays dual roles in both glycemic control and the pathology of type 2 *** IAPP can activate the NLRP3 inflammasome and modulate cellular autophagy,apoptosis and extracellular matrix metabolism,no data is available concerning intracellular protein expression upon exposure to the *** surprisingly,how intracellular protein expression is modulated by nanoparticle inhibitors of protein aggregation remains entirely *** this study,we first examined the changing proteomes ofβTC6,a pancreaticβ-cell line,upon exposure to monomeric,oligomeric and fibrillar IAPP,and detailed cellular protein expression rescued by graphene quantum dots(GQDs),an IAPP *** found that 29 proteins were significantly dysregulated by the IAPP species,while majority of these proteins were nucleotide-binding ***,our liquid chromatography tandem-mass spectrometry,fluorescence quenching,helium ion microscopy,cytotoxicity and discreet molecular dynamics simulations data revealed a remarkable capacity of GQDs in regulating aberrant protein expression through H-bonding and hydrophobic interactions,pointing to nanomedicine as a new frontier against human amyloid diseases.

目的探讨关节软骨蛋白瓜氨酸表位的表达情况,以及瓜氨酸化表位对抗瓜氨酸蛋白抗体(ACPAs)的免疫应答的影响。方法体外诱导实验:实验组加不同浓度梯度的脂多糖、热灭活细菌(大肠杆菌、金色葡萄球菌)或二型胶原(CII)特异性单克隆抗体等不同刺激物诱导体外培养关节软骨蛋白瓜氨酸化,等量PBS作为对照组,利用特异性结合瓜氨酸化表位的单克隆抗体ACC4(IgG1)进行免疫组织化学染色,ACC1(IgG2a)作为阳性对照,Hy2.15(IgG1)和L243(IgG2a)分别作为同型阴性对照,显微镜下观察瓜氨酸化蛋白表达;体内诱导实验:SD大鼠右膝关节内注射不同浓度脂多糖作为实验组,左膝关节内注射等量PBS为对照组,3 d后取膝关节组织,制成冰冻切片,利用上述抗体进行免疫组化染色,显微镜下观察瓜氨酸化蛋白表达;建立不同种系的胶原诱导性关节炎(CIA)小鼠模型,评价其疾病发生率和严重程度,同时收集小鼠血清与高滴度抗瓜氨酸化抗体的类风湿性关节炎患者血清,采用液相芯片技术检测小鼠及类风湿患者血清中抗瓜氨酸化蛋白抗体水平,并用免疫组织化学检测关节炎小鼠关节软骨瓜氨酸化蛋白的表达水平。结果特异性结合瓜氨酸化CII表位的ACC4抗体未能结合至经不同诱导的关节软骨组织;与健康对照组相比,ACC4抗体和含高滴度的抗瓜氨酸化蛋白抗体的类风湿性关节炎患者血清中的抗体均能结合至CIA小鼠关节炎症关节软骨周围的滑膜组织;成功构建不同种系小鼠类风湿性关节炎模型,其发病率和疾病严重程度无统计学差异(P>0.05);液相芯片技术分析结果显示,小鼠血清中的抗瓜氨酸化抗体低表达或几乎不表达,但抗CII三螺旋结构多肽的抗体反应性较强。结论轻度急性炎症反应不足以引起关节软骨蛋白瓜氨酸化,其特异性抗原表位的表达需要高强度的炎症反应。二型胶原诱导的小鼠关节炎模型中炎症关节软骨蛋白可表达瓜氨酸化抗原表位,但瓜氨酸化抗原表位的表达不足以引起小鼠体内抗瓜氨酸化抗体的免疫应答,其免疫应答需要更多的刺激信号来诱导。

Phase equilibria modelling coupled with U–Pb zircon and monazite ages of garnet–cordierite gneiss from Vallikodu Kottayam in the Kerala Khondalite Belt,southern India are presented *** results suggest that the area attained peak P–T conditions of^900C at 7.5–8 kbar,followed by decompression to 3.5–5 kbar and cooling to 450–480C,preserving signatures of the partial melting event in the field of high to ultra-high temperature *** reintegration models suggest that up to 35%granitic melt could have been produced during metamorphism at^950*** U–Pb age data from zircons(~1.0–~0.7 Ga)and chemical ages from monazites(~540 Ma and^941 Ma)reflect a complex tectonometamorphic evolution of the ***^941 Ma age reported from these monazites indicate a Tonian ultra-high temperature event,linked to juvenile magmatism/deformation episodes reported from the Southern Granulite Terrane and associated fragments in Rodinia,which were subsequently overprinted by the Cambrian(~540 Ma)tectonothermal episode.
