Sign language recognition is vital for enhancing communication accessibility among the Deaf and hard-of-hearing *** Japan,approximately 360,000 individualswith hearing and speech disabilities rely on Japanese Sign Language(JSL)for ***,existing JSL recognition systems have faced significant performance limitations due to inherent *** response to these challenges,we present a novel JSL recognition system that employs a strategic fusion approach,combining joint skeleton-based handcrafted features and pixel-based deep learning *** system incorporates two distinct streams:the first stream extracts crucial handcrafted features,emphasizing the capture of hand and body movements within JSL ***,a deep learning-based transfer learning stream captures hierarchical representations of JSL gestures in the second ***,we concatenated the critical information of the first stream and the hierarchy of the second stream features to produce the multiple levels of the fusion features,aiming to create a comprehensive representation of the JSL *** reducing the dimensionality of the feature,a feature selection approach and a kernel-based support vector machine(SVM)were used for the *** assess the effectiveness of our approach,we conducted extensive experiments on our Lab JSL dataset and a publicly available Arabic sign language(ArSL)*** results unequivocally demonstrate that our fusion approach significantly enhances JSL recognition accuracy and robustness compared to individual feature sets or traditional recognition methods.

Soybean is an important upland crop,but its productivity is often limited by anaerobic stress caused by *** ability to adjust root growth under environmental constraints is an important physiological trait for adapting to an everchanging environment,and root pruning is an artificial technique for regenerating the root *** the present study,we investigated whether root pruning in soybean can effectively alleviate the inhibitory effects of anaerobic *** plants were affected by anaerobic stress at the germination,vegetative stage 1(V1),and reproductive stage 1(R1)stages,and then the plants were treated with root pruning just after the stress *** plants at the germination stage were treated with root cap and tip removals after hypoxia(N_(2)treatment).Root cap removal was more effective in suppressing the inhibitory effects of hypoxia than root tip removal(5 mm from the tip).The shoot dry weights of the soybean plants with and without root cap removal after hypoxia were 51.2 and 73.8%of the control,respectively,while the root dry weights of plants with and without root cap removal after hypoxia were 43.2 and 62.8%of the control,*** root cap removal effectively enhanced soybean growth after anaerobic stress,the root cap may be the candidate tissue for the stress memory *** soybean plants at the V1 stage of growth were affected by anaerobic stress,the branch number,pod weight in the main stem,root length,and root surface area of the soybean plants treated with anaerobic stress at the R1 stage significantly decreased compared with those of the *** contrast,root pruning(2 mm from the tip)immediately after the stress treatment enhanced root growth,branch number,and pod *** branch number,pod weight,root length,and root surface area of the plants treated with root pruning were 1.13,1.14,1.12,and 1.13 times higher than those of plants treated with anaerobic *** was observed in the roo

The erect panicle （Ep） type is an important characteristic for japonica super rice in Northeast China and plays a significant role in enhancing yield. The Ep type is considered to be a genetic ideotype resource to the japonica super rice group by virtue of its agronomic advantages such as grain number per panicle and biomass. This study addresses the effects of nitrogen and planting density conditions on yielding performance regarding panicle type （PT） using the recombinant inbred line （RIL） population derived from the cross between an Ep variety Liaogeng 5 and non-Ep variety Wanlun 422. The genetics underlying the Ep type proved to be robust not only for panicle-type optimization but also plant height, panicle length, flag leaf length and seed density. We also found that regardless of nitrogen and density, correlation between harvest index （HI） and plant height was not significant in Ep type whatever the nitrogen and density. The application of Ep type provides a potential strategy for yield improvement by increasing biomass through HI maintainable in rice.

AIM To evaluate the feasibility of chemotherapy including fluoropyrimidine, platinum and taxane with modified dosages for unresectable gastric cancer in Japanese *** We performed a feasibility study of a modified docetaxel, cisplatin and capecitabine (DCX) regimen for stage Ⅳ gastric cancer. In particular, 30 or 40 mg/m^2 of docetaxel on day 1, 60 mg/m^2 of cisplatin on day 1, and 2000 mg/m^2 of capecitabine for 2 wk were administered every three *** Three patients were treated with modified DCX(m DCX) with 30 mg/m^2 docetaxel, and five patients were treated with this regimen with 40 mg/m^2 docetaxel. Grade 3 or 4 neutropenia was observed in six of the eight patients; no patients exhibited febrile neutropenia. Partial response was achieved in four of the eight patients. Three patients underwent gastrectomy, which achieved R0 resection without residual tumors in dissected lymph nodes. In one of these three patients, resected specimens revealed pathological complete response in the primary lesion and in lymph *** m DCX was well tolerated by Japanese patients with stage Ⅳ gastric cancer. This regimen might be useful for allowing gastric cancer patients with distant lymph node metastasis to undergo conversion surgery.

BACKGROUND It is widely recognized that endoscopic resection(ER) of superficial nonampullary duodenal epithelial tumors(SNADETs) is technically challenging and may carry high risks of intraoperative and delayed bleeding and *** adverse events could be more critical than those occurring in other levels of the gastrointestinal tract. Because of the low prevalence of the disease and the high risks of severe adverse events, the curability including short-and long-term outcomes have not been standardized *** To investigate the curability including short-and long-term outcomes of ER for SNADETs in a large case *** This retrospective study included cases that underwent ER for SNADETs at our university hospital between March 2004 and July 2017. Short-term outcomes of ER were measured based on en bloc and R0 resection rates as well as adverse events. Long-term outcomes included local recurrence detected on endoscopic surveillance and disease-specific mortality in patients followed up for ≥ 12 mo after *** In the study, 131 patients with 147 SNADETs were analyzed. The 147 ERs consisted of 136 endoscopic mucosal resections(EMRs)(93%) and 11 endoscopic submucosal dissections(ESDs)(7%). The median tumor diameter was 10 *** pathology diagnosis was adenocarcinoma(56/147, 38%), high-grade intraepithelial neoplasia(44/147, 30%), or low-grade intraepithelial neoplasia(47/147, 32%). The R0 resection rate was 68%(93/136) in the EMR group and73%(8/11) in the ESD group, respectively. Cap-assisted EMR(known as EMR-C)showed a higher rate of R0 resection compared to the conventional method of EMR using a snare(78% vs 62%, P = 0.06). No adverse event was observed in the EMR group, whereas delayed bleeding, intraoperative perforation, and delayed perforation in 3, 3, and 5 patients occurred in the ESD group, respectively.
