Obesity and overweight are prevalent in Saudi Arabia (24.95% & 31.80%). Also, childhood obesity in the country is a challenge, with 6% - 10% of preschool and school-age children. The burden of being overweight and obese is disastrous. Therefore, the Saudi Diabetes Scientific Society constituted a team to develop a guideline. The team reviewed the local Clinical Practice Guidelines for the Prevention and Management of Obesity in Saudi Arabia;and conducted a rigorous review of relevant evidence-based scientific literature. After a thorough assessment, a consensus was reached to use the Australian guideline as the main guideline to be adapted and localized to be suitable for the Saudi people. To avoid duplication of efforts, the team adopted the grading of evidence used by the Australian guideline. The updated version was presented in a workshop, and the recommendation of the participants was included. The final draft was distributed for review, and comments were included. This document presents the result of such an effort as a local guideline.

[Y(dbm)_(3)(H_(2)O)]:Synthesis,thermal behavior and spin-coating precursor for Y_(2)O_(3)layer formation

The synthesis,structure and thermal behavior of [Y（dbm）3（H2 O）]（3）（dbm = 1,3-diphenyl-1,3-propandionate） and its use as a spin-coating precursor for Y2 O3 deposition is reported. Complex 3 was prepared by the reaction of [Y（NO3）3·6 H2 O]（1） with 3 equiv of Hdbm（2） in presence of NaOH. The molecular structure of 3 in the solid-state was determined by single X-ray crystal diffraction. Both C1 symmetric crystallographically independent species of 3 possess a YO7 coordination setup with minor deviation from an ideal capped octahedron coordination geometry（∧ enantiomer）. Complex 3 forms a1 D chain, due to intermolecular hydrogen bonds between the coordinated H2 O molecule and the 0 atom of the dbm ligand, respectively. The thermal decomposition behavior of 3 was investigated by thermogravimetric studies in the temperature range of 40-800 ℃ and 40-1300 ℃ under an oxygen and argon atmosphere, respectively. Powder X-ray diffraction（PXRD） measurements of the residues confirmed the formation of Y2 O3. Complex 3 was applied as a spin-coating precursor for yttrium oxide film formation on either Si wafers with a continuous 100 nm thick SiO2 film, or with a native oxide *** as-deposited Y2 O3 layers are smooth, conformal, dense and transparent and are of a thickness of 27 and 30 nm, respectively.

Lanthanide clusters [Ln4（μ3-OH）2（η2-accp）4（（μ-O）-η2-accp）6]（Ln = Y（4）,Gd（5）; accp = 2-acetylcyclopentanoate） are accessible by treatment of [M（NO33·6 H2 O]（M = Y（1）,Gd（2）） with 3 equiv. of Haccp（3） in presence of NaOH. The molecular structures of 4 and 5） in the solid-state are discussed. The thermal behavior of 4 and 5 was studied by TG under Ar and O2, showing multistep decomposition processes. Additionally, DSC studies were carried out under an atmosphere of O2. PXRD measurements of the TG residues confirm the formation of Ln2 ***-coating experiments were carried out with 4 and 5 for Ln2 O3 film deposition on silicon substrates. The layers are smooth, close and are of thicknesses of 18.87±1.13 nm and 25.59 ± 4.55 nm for Ln = Y and Gd, which was evidenced by SEM and EDX studies. Field-effect transistors were successfully fabricated by deposition of carbon nanotubes on top of the Y2 O3 films and formation of palladium contacts by a lift-off procedure. An on/off ratio of more than 4 orders of magnitude is achieved without considerable leakage currents. These results demonstrate the potential use of spin-coated Y2 O3 as a gate dielectric in electronic devices.

Objective:To investigate antioxidant and antimicrobial activities of two plant species,Litsea elliptica(L elliptica) and Litsea resinosa(L resinosa).Methods:In vitro method-2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl radical scavenging assay was conducted for antioxidant activity detennination while antimicrobial assay consisted of agar well diffusion assay and mycelial radial growth ***:Methanol extracts of root and stem of L elliptica and L resinosa exhibited the highest antioxidant activity with EC_(50)of 23.99,41.69,11.22 and 33.48 mg/*** methanol extracts of L resinosa as well as root extracts from L elliptica showed significant scavenging *** extract from stem of L resinosa presented the largest inhibition zone in Gramnegative bacteria Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Escherichia coli while chloroform extract from inner bark of L resinosa showed major inhibition towards Gram-positive bacteria Bacillus *** oils from the root of both species showed significant antifungal activities which are 80.11%and 66.85%***:Overall,methanol extracts from root and stem of both species showed antioxidant activity comparable to standard butylated *** from L resinosa demonstrated stronger antimicrobial properties compared to that from L elliptica.

Area and Timing Estimation in Register Files Using Neural Networks

The increase in issue width and instructions window size in modern processors demand an increase in the size of the register files, as well as an increase in the number of ports. Bigger register files implies an increase in power consumed by these units as well as longer access delays. Models that assist in estimating the size of the register file, and its timing early in the design cycle are critical to the time-budget allocated to a processor design and to its performance. In this work, we discuss a Radial Base Function (RBF) Artificial Neural Network (ANN) model for the prediction of time and area for standard cell register files designed using optimized Synopsys Design Ware components and an UMC130 nm library. The ANN model predictions were compared against experimental results (obtained using detailed simulation) and a nonlinear regression-based model, and it is observed that the ANN model is very accurate and outperformed the non-linear model in several statistical parameters. Using the trained ANN model, a parametric study was carried out to study the effect of the number of words in the file (D), the number of bit in one word (W) and the total number of Read and Write ports (P) on the latency and area of standard cell register files.

Dynamic and Leakage Power Estimation in Register Files Using Neural Networks

Efficient power consumption and energy dissipation in embedded devices and modern processors is becoming increasingly critical due to the limited energy supply available from the current battery technologies. It is vital for chip architects, circuit, and processor designers to evaluate the energy per access, the power consumption and power leakage in register files at an early stage of the design process in order to explore power/performance tradeoffs, and be able to adopt power efficient architectures and layouts. Power models and tools that would allow architects and designers the early prediction of power consumption in register files are vital to the design of energy-efficient systems. Endoscopic ultrasound(EUS) has become an important component in the diagnosis and treatment of carcinoma pancreas. With the advent of advanced imaging techniques and tissue acquisition methods the role of EUS is becoming increasingly important. Small pancreatic tumors can be reliably diagnosed with EUS. EUS guided fine needle aspiration establishes diagnosis in some cases. EUS plays an important role in staging of carcinoma pancreas and in some important therapeutic methods that include celiac plexus neurolysis, EUS guided biliary drainage and drug delivery. In this review we attempt to review the role of EUS in diagnosis and management of carcinoma pancreas.

Endoscopic ultrasound(EUS) guided drainage of pancreatic fluid collections(PFC) has become increasingly popular and become first line management option in many centers. Use of therapeutic echoendoscopes has greatly increased the applicability of EUS guided transmural drainage. Drainage is indicated in symptomatic PFCs, PFC related infection, bleed, luminal obstruction, fistulization and biliary obstruction. EUS guided transmural drainage of PFCs is preferred in patients with non bulging lesions, portal hypertension, bleeding tendency and in those whom conventional drainage has failed. In the present decade significant progress has been made in minimally invasive endoscopic techniques. There are newer stent designs, access devices and techniques for more efficient drainage of PFCs. In this review, we discuss the EUS guided drainage of PFCs in acute pancreatitis.
