Rainwate. characte.istics can re.e.l e.issions from various anthropoge.ic and natural source. into the.atmosphe.e. The.physico-che.ical characte.istics of 44 monthly rainfall e.e.ts （colle.te. be.we.n January and De.e.be. 2012） from 4 we.the. stations （Bame.da, Ndop plain, Ndawara and Kumbo） in the.Bame.da Highlands （BH） we.e.inve.tigate.. The.purpose.was to de.e.mine.the.source. of che.ical spe.ie., the.r se.sonal inputs and suitability of the.rainwate. for drinking. The.me.n pH of 5 indicate. the.slightly acidic nature.of the.rainwate.. Ave.age.total dissolve. solids （TDS） we.e.low （6.7 mg/L）, characte.istic of unpollute. atmosphe.ic moisture.air. Major ion conce.trations （mg/L） we.e.low and in the.orde. K＋〉 Ca2＋〉 Mg2~ 〉 Na＋ for cations and NO3 〉〉 HCO3 〉 SO] 〉 CI- 〉 PO3- 〉 F- for anions. The.ave.age.rainwate. in the.are. was mixe. Ca-Mg-SO4-CI wate. type. The.CI-/Na＋ ratio （1.04） was comparable.to that of se.wate. （1.16）, an indication that N a＋ and CI originate. mainly from marine.（Atlantic Oce.n） ae.osols. High e.richme.ts of Ca2＋, Mg2＋ and SO2- to Na＋ ratios re.ative.to se.wate. ratios （constituting 44% of the.total ions） de.onstrate. the.r te.rige.ous origin, mainly from Saharan and Sahe.ian arid dusts. The.K＋/Na＋ ratio （2.24）, which was similar to tropical ve.e.ation ash （2.38）, and NO3 was e.se.tially from biomass burning. Light （〈 100 mm） pre.monsoon and post-monsoon conve.tive.rains we.e.e.riche. in major ions than the.he.vy （〉 100 mm） monsoon rains, indicating a high contribution of major ions during the.low conve.tive.showe.s. De.pite.the.acidic nature. the.TDS and major ion conce.trations classifie. the.rainwate. as potable.base. on the.WHO guide.ine..

The.origin and pe.roge.e.is of the.Came.oon Volcanic Line.（CVL）, compose. of volcanoe. that form on both the.oce.n floor and the.contine.tal crust, are.difficult to unde.stand be.ause.of the.dive.sity, he.- e.oge.e.ty, and nature.of available.data. Major and trace.e.e.e.ts, and Sr-Nd-Pb isotope.data of volcanic rocks of the.CVL spanning four de.ade. have.be.n compile. to re.nte.pre. the.r origin and pe.roge.e.is. Volcanic rocks range.from ne.he.inite. basanite.and alkali basalts to phonolite. trachyte.and rhyolite.with the.pre.e.ce.of a compositional gap be.we.n Si02 58-64 wt.%. Similaritie. in ge.che.ical characte.istics, mode.e. re.ults for two compone.t mixing, and the.e.iste.ce.of mantle.xe.oliths in most mafic rocks argue.against significant crustal contamination. Major and trace.e.e.e.t e.ide.ce. indicate.that the.me.ting of mantle.rocks to ge.e.ate.the.CVL magma occurre. dominantly in the.garne. lhe.zolite.stability fe.d. Me.ting mode.s sugge.t small de.re. （〈3%） partial me.ting of mantle.be.ring （6-10%） garne. for Mr. e.inde. the.Ngaounde.e.Plate.u and the.Biu Plate.u, and 〈5% of garne. for the.oce.nic se.tor of the.CVL, Mr. Came.oon, Mt. Bambouto, Mt. Mane.gouba and the.Oku Volcanic Group. The.Sr-Nd-Pb isotope.sys- te.atics sugge.t that mixing in various proportions of De.le.e. MORB Mantle.（DMM） with e.riche. mantle.1 and 2 （e.1 and e.2） could account for the.comple. isotopic characte.istics of the.CVL lavas. Low Mg numbe. （Mg# - 100 x MgO/（MgO ＋Fe.）） and Ni, Cr and Co conte.ts of the.CVL mafic lavas re.e.l the.r crystallization from fractionate. me.ts. The.abse.ce.of syste.atic variation in NbJTa and Zr/Hf ratios, and Sr-Nd isotope.compositions be.we.n the.mafic and fe.sic lavas indicate. progre.sive.e.olution of magmas by fractional crystallization. Trace.e.e.e.t ratios and the.r plots corroborate.mantle.he.- e.oge.e.ty and re.e.l distinct ge.che.ical signature. for individual the.CVL volcanoe..
