Evaluation of different formulations of IGRs against Aedes albopictus and Culex quinquefasciatus(Diptera:Culicidae)

Objective: To test the relative efficacy of pyriproxyfen and methoprene on mortality,deformity, inhibition and emergence to adult stages of Culex quinquefasciatus and Aedes ***: serial dilutions(0.01–0.05 mg/L) of methoprene, pyriproxyfen 0.5 water dispersible granules(WDG) and pyriproxyfen 1.0 WDG were used to assess mortality and inhibition of 3rd instar larvae of Aedes albopictus and Culex quinquefasciatus. Each concentration and control was replicated four times in completely randomized *** on larval mortality, growth inhibition, deformities and adult's emergence was recorded weekly. On the basis of best comparative performance, the efficacy of pyriproxyfen 1.0 WDG at 0.1 g/m3 was also tested in the field by collecting treated water samples monthly for 1–6 months after field application. Twenty five 3rd instar larvae of Aedes and Culex spp. of the same cohorts were used for bioassays and compared with larvae in control cups containing 1 L of untreated tap ***: Results revealed variations in fatality of different insect growth regulators(IGRs) to the 3rd instar larvae of Culex and Aedes mosquitoes. Among the IGRs, pyriproxyfen 1.0 WDG was found best that exhibited significantly high emergence inhibition against Culex and Aedes spp. Based on the results, the IGRs were classified in terms of the tested parameters in order of pyriproxyfen 1.0 WDG > pyriproxyfen 0.5WDG > methoprene. In case of field studies, pyriproxyfen 1.0 WDG, pool data of the entire target treated sites showed minimum adult emergence from water sampled of habitats treated with 0.1 g/m3 of pyriproxyfen 1.0 ***: It is thus concluded that IGRs can be utilized as environment friendly control measures for Culex and Aedes spp. of mosquitoes on small and large scale. This will reduce the use of conventional insecticides by the public health authorities and help in reducing selection pressure of insecticides.

Background： The objective of the study was to evaluate the effect of overfeeding a moderate energy diet and a2,4-thiazolidinedione（TZD） injection on blood and hepatic tissue biomarkers of lipid metabolism, oxidative stress,and inflammation as it relates to insulin ***： Fourteen dry non-pregnant cows were fed a control（CON） diet to meet 100% of NRC requirements for3 wk, after which half of the cows were assigned to a moderate-energy diet（OVE） and half of the cows continued on CON for 6 wk. All cows received an intravenous injection of 4 mg TZD/kg of body weight（BW） daily from 2 wk after initiation of dietary treatments and for 2 additional week. Compared with CON cows and before TZD treatment, the OVE cows had lower concentration of total protein, urea and albumin over time. The concentration of cholesterol and tocopherol was greater after 2 wk of TZD regardless of diet. Before and after TZD, the OVE cows had greater concentrations of AsT/GOT, while concentrations of paraoxonase, total protein, globulin, myeloperoxidase, and haptoglobin were lower compared with CON cows. Regardless of diet, TZD administration increased the concentration of ceruloplasmin, ROMt, cholesterol, tocopherol, total protein, globulin, myeloperoxidase and beta-carotene. In contrast,the concentration of haptoglobin decreased at the end of TZD injection regardless of diet. Prior to TZD injection, the mR NA expression of PC, ANGPTL4, FGF21, INsR, ACOX1, and PPARD in liver of OVE cows was lower compared with CON cows. In contrast, the expression of HMGCs2 was greater in OVE compared with CON cows. After 1 wk of TZD administration the expression of IRs1 decreased regardless of diet; whereas, expression of INsR increased after 2 wk of TZD injection. Cows fed OVE had lower overal expression of TNF, INsR, PC, ACOX1, FGF21, and PPARD but greater HMGCs2 expression. This article computes effect of uniform magnetic field on nanofluid flow filling porous medium inside parallel sheets. Darcy's law is used to characterize porous medium. Flow is caused by stretching of the lower sheet. The governing systems are computed using Finite difference technique. This scheme is used due to its more general and powerful nature to solve nonlinear problems. Results are obtained and discussed graphically. Nusselt number, skin friction, streamlines,velocity and temperature are emphasized.

Correlation of Asthma symptoms with Prevalence of Indoor NO2 Concentration in Kuwait

The research literature provides strong evidence that characteristics of buildings and their indoor environments influence the prevalence of several adverse health effects. Kuwait is considered one of the countries with harshest weather conditions. It is estimated that Kuwaitis spend most of their times indoors. Indoor environments quality should be taken seriously since indoor allergens and irritants can play a significant role in determining the health of households. In this research we propose to profile synergistic interaction between morbidity differentials and air quality in Kuwait residential area. The objective of this project is to investigate the relation between indoors air quality and asthma symptoms. Data mining techniques are employed to discover the correlation between indoor air quality measures and asthma symptoms and trigger. The main trigger considered in this research is the concentration of nitrogen dioxide. some other triggers investigated are dust mites, smoking and others.

The World Trade Organization (WTO) negotiations goal is to enhance international trade through trade liberalization. Recently,"trade facilitation" provoked as a new aspect and added to these negotiations. The perception behind this addition is ingenuous:once formal trade barriers (both tariff and non-tariff) have been condensed, other issues, as well as administrative barriers, become the most serious impairments to trade. Many exertions have been arrayed in order to liberalize trade but less attention has been given to impediments. From a trade policy point of view, trade facilitation is important for two reasons. First, after dropping tariff and non-tariff barriers, administrative barriers and red tape costs still impeded trade. second, the expenses caused by red tape is very high accounting for2to15%of the value of the traded goods. Third, the welfare arising from the elimination of these barriers is greater when the restrictions that are being eased deal with the waste of real resources rather than those that generate rents that are captured by interest groups (quota rents) or governments (tariff revenues). As trade facilitation involves a wide range of data, there is difficulty in collection and statistics.Many trials to draw the idea of indicators system on trade facilitation to calculate the score of trade facilitation of46Egypt's major trade's partner countries are proposed and discussed before. In this thesis, we choose port efficiency, customs environment, business environment;e-commerce and market access these5indicators to evaluate the degree of trade facilitation. Entire evaluation system is divided into five-level indicators,12secondary indicators, basically covering all content involved in trade facilitation with a complete and scientific, constructed in this thesis. In this study, we report on the extraction, characterization, and potential applications of colloidal biochar derived from pyrolyzed wood-an untapped source of carbonaceous particles.A series of characterizations was performed on biochar colloids to unravel their colloidal properties and surface chemistry through which it was found that they have a net negative charge and are stable between pH 3 and ***,our initial toxicity tests showed that biochar colloids themselves are not toxic and they can be used in remediation applications,which led us to investigate(1)their copper sorption,a model inorganic contaminant,in a scenario that biochar colloids are released into the environment and(2)their potential use in organic pollutants adsorption and *** sorption studies showed that biochar colloids have a copper sorption capacity as high as 22 mg g^(−1) in sub-ppm copper *** increased the acute 48 h lethal concentration(LC50)of copper for Daphnia magna by 21 ppb,which is comparable to the previously reported effect by dissolved organic *** and degradation of methylene blue(MB),an often-used proxy for organic contaminants in water,were studied by coupling the biochar colloids to positively charged TiO_(2) nanoparticles and using it as a *** hybrid MB photodegradation efficiency was 21%higher than that of TiO_(2) nanoparticles *** of demethylation is proposed as the main degradation mechanism of MB,as confirmed by liquid chromatography-mass spectroscopy(LC/Ms),and the positive impact of biochar colloids is ascribed to their abundant adsorption sites,which may facilitate MB adsorption and its photocatalytic degradation.

Primary esophageal tuberculosis mimicking esophageal carcinoma on computed tomography: A case report

BACKGROUND Tuberculosis(TB)has a rare extrapulmonary manifestation known as esophageal tuberculosis,accounting for 0.2%of total TB *** TB typically presents with dysphagia,with retrosternal pain or odynophagia,but generalized symptoms such as low-grade fever,decreased appetite,and weight loss are also *** carcinoma and Crohn’s disease of the esophagus are important differential diagnoses with similar *** sUMMARY We present a case of a 25-year-old male,who presented with esophageal TB mimicking an esophageal *** work-up,Mantoux test,and chest X-ray were ***-swallow examination showed moderate dilatation of distal esophagus with a nodular and irregular *** tomography showed significant thickening of thoracic and distal esophagus with infiltration into the lesser omentum and large,centrally necrotic lymph nodes on gastro-hepatic ligament suggestive of a possible *** was performed and a biopsy of mural thickening was performed and sent for histopathological *** histopathology report and TB-polymerase chain reaction confirmed the diagnosis of esophageal *** patient was started on antituberculous therapy(ATT),and complete resolution of symptoms and disease was achieved in 6 *** Esophageal TB is an extremely rare,yet important differential diagnosis in a patient presenting with *** TB can mimic esophageal carcinoma on computed tomography *** patient responded well to a complete course of ATT.
