AIM: To find out the role of bacteria as a possible etiological factor in lymphocytic ***: Twenty patients with histopathological diagnosis of lymphocytic colitis and 10 normal controls were included in this study. Colonoscopic biopsies were obtained from three sites (hepatic and splenic flexures and rectosigmoid region). Each biopsy was divided into two parts. A fresh part was incubated on special cultures for bacterial growth. The other part was used for the preparation of histologic tissue sections that were examined for the presence of bacteria with the help of Giemsa ***: Culture of tissue biopsies revealed bacterial growth in 18 out of 20 patients with lymphocytic colitis mostly Escherichia coli(14/18), which was found in all rectosigmoid specimens (14/14), but only in 8/14 and 6/14 of splenic and hepatic flexure specimens respectively. In two of these cases, E coliwas associated with proteus. Proteus was found only in one case, Klebsiella in two cases, and staphylococcus aureus in one case. In the control group, only 2 out of 10 controls showed the growth of E coliin their biopsy *** showed rod-shaped bacilli in the tissue sections of 12 out of 14 cases with positive E coliin their specimen's culture. None of the controls showed these bacteria in histopathological ***: This preliminary study reports an association between E coliand lymphocytic colitis, based on histological and culture observations. serotyping and molecular studies are in process to assess the role of E coliin the pathogenesis of lymphocytic colitis.

This paper solved the problem of the scattering of radiation from a material half-space by the transient spectral domain method. The transient spectral domain method is a general theoretical approach for the exact solution to the time-dependent source radiation in the presence of media. It is located in the air region in the vicinity of lossy half-space. The apply of the integral transform to the wave equation in the horizontal coordinates in space by a two-dimensional Fourier transform is theoretical formulation of the problem. A source used is an electrically short vertical magnetic dipole with Impulse current distribution in the domain. Leads, under consideration of initial boundary and transition condition, the form expressions is achieved in terms of spectral domain variable and time. The integral representation determines the electromagnetic field anywhere the closed-form expressions is an achieved in terms of spectral domain variable and time.

The aim of the present work is to introduce a high performance cathode for magnesium-ion batteries. A simple ball mill process is employed to synthesize (Vsub>2sub>Osub>5sub>)sub>1-xsub> (Graphene Nanoplatelets (GNP))sub>xsub> nanocomposite, (where x = 0, 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 wt.% GNP). The synthesized samples are characterized using scanning electron microscope (sEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) technique, impedance spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry and charge-discharge test. The maximum conductivity of the investigated samples was found to be 6 × 10sup>-1sup> s/cm for optimum composite film (25 wt% GNP) at room temperature. Room temperature rechargeable magnesium batteries are constructed from Mg as anode material, (Vsub>2sub>Osub>5sub>)sub>1-xsub>(GNP)sub>xsub> as a cathode material and the simple non-aqueous electrolyte based MgNOsub>3sub>·6hsub>2sub>O. Mg/Vsub>2sub>Osub>5sub> cells employing as-prepared electrolyte exhibit initial discharge capacity ~100 mAhgsup>-1sup> while Mg/(Vsub>2sub>Osub>5sub>/GNP (x = 25t.%)) cathode produces a lower initial capacity of ~90 mAhgsup>-1sup>. The high initial discharge capacity of Vsub>2sub>Osub>5sub> can be attributed to the presence of a large (001) interlayer spacing (~11.53 A) for facile Mgsup>+sup> insertion/extraction.

The distribution of merchandises and commodities from source towns to final destinations is a vital issue. The job of transporter’s decisions can be optimized by reformulating the transportation problem as generalization of the classical transportation problems. Multiobjective multi-dimensional transportation network is considered the extension of conventional two-dimensional transportation network and is convenient for dealing with transportation systems with multiple supply nodes, multiple demand nodes, as well as diverse modes of transportation demands or delivering multiple kinds of merchandises. In this study, we implement an improved Biogeography based optimization IBBO to the flow of the commodities of the main roads to main nodes in the North Western Coastal strip of Egypt, where there are four main roads and three nodes. The proposed algorithm incorporates the dominance criteria to handle multiple objective functions which enable the decision maker to cover all the Pareto frontier of the problem which have a large-scale size. Numerical results were reported in order to establish the real computational burden of the proposed algorithm and to assess its convergence performances for solving real geographical problem.

Clinical applications of cell therapy and tissue regeneration under different conditions need a multiplicity of adult stem cell *** to date,little is available on the comparative isolation,characterization,proliferation,rapid amplification,and osteogenic/adipogenic differentiation of rat mesenchymal stem cells(MsCs)isolated from living bulge cells of the hair follicle(hF)and bone marrow(BM)from the same *** work hopes to use hF-MsCs as an additional adult stem cell source for research and *** reaching 80%confluence,the cell counting,viability%,and yields of hF-MsCs and BM-MsCs were nearly *** viability%was 91.41±2.98 and 93.11±3.06 while the cells yield of initial seeding was 33.15±2.76 and 34.22±3.99 and of second passage was 28.76±1.01 and 29.56±3.11 for hF-MsCs and BM-MsCs *** of differentiation(CDs)analysis revealed that hF-MsCs were positively expressed CD34,CD73 and CD200 and negatively expressed ***-MsCs were positively expressed CD73 and CD200 and negatively expressed of CD34 and *** proliferation of hFMsCs and BM-MsCs was determined by means of incorporation of Brd-U,population doubling time(PDT)assays and the quantity of formazan *** percentage of Brd-U positive cells and PDT were relatively similar in both types of *** proliferation,as expressed by the quantity of formazan assay in confluent cells,revealed that the quantity of release by BM-MsCs was slightly higher than *** differentiated BM-MsCs showed moderate accumulation of oil red-O stained lipid droplets when compared to that of hF-MsCs which exhibited high *** total lipid concentration was significantly higher in adipogenic differentiated hF-MsCs than BMMsCs(Ps found that activity of bone alkaline phosphatase and calcium concentration were significantly higher(Pspectively)in osteogenic differentiated BM-MsCs than that of *** present findings demonstrate that the

herein we reported the synthesis of a novel series of neocryptolepine（5-methyl-5h-indolo[2,3-b]quinoline） derivatives containing different substituents at Cll using methyl 1h-indole-3-carboxylate and N-methylaniline as starting material. The target 21 compounds were evaluated for their axltibacterial activity in vitro against gram-positive bacteria（B, subtilis and s. aureus） and gram-negative bacteria（E, coli and ***）. Almost all the tested compounds showed moderate to high activities against the four bacterial strains at the minimum inhibitory concentrations（MICs） of 1-10μg/mL. The obtained results suggest that part of the novel synthetic neocryptolepine derivatives exhibit significant antibacterial effect against all the tested organisms.

Reaction of bis-(acetylacetonato) copper(ΙΙ) (A) with transmetalator Zn((EtO)2Ps2)2 (B2;Et = ethyl) in methylene chloride is a simple irreversible second-order process over a wide temperature range which is the first example of a second-order reaction of mononuclear target A with a transmetalator. The plots of kobsd vs [A] are linear, meaning that there is one A and one B2 in the activated complex of the slowest reaction step. The slowest step is precursor formation on the basis that B2 is an exceptionally weak complex. The product of the A/B2 reaction is the strong successor complex Zn(acac)2•Cu(ps)2. The data are compared with those for reactions of the same target (A) with s-methyle isopropylidenehydrazinecarbodithioate-carbodithioato-metal(II) complexes M(sN)2 (M=Ni (C1) and Zn (C2)). The reaction is not like that of A with Ni ((MeO)2Ps2)2 (B1;Me=methyl), because it is irreversible and also consistent with the measured lower relative thermodynamic stability of B2 compared to B1.

Predictors of Gallstone Formation in Morbidly Obese Patients after Bariatric surgery: A Retrospective Observational study

Background: Obesity alone and rapid weight loss induced by bariatric surgery are recognized risk factors for the development of cholelithiasis. This study aimed to identify the predictive factors for gallstone formation after bariatric surgery. Patient and methods: The files of all morbidly obese patients underwent bariatric surgery in our unit during the period from March 2003 till October 2010 were reviewed and analyzed. All patients underwent routine preoperative ultrasonography and selective concomitant cholecystectomy was done in all patients with ultrasonographic-confirmed cholelithiasis. After excluding cases with prior and concomitant cholecystectomies, patients were divided into two groups;those who developed gallstones and those who did not and the two groups were compared. Results: Of the 143 reviewed files 135 were eligible to be included in the study. The incidence of cholelithiasis before surgery was 25.9% (35 cases). 19 cases (19%) of the 100 cases free at surgery developed gallstone at a mean of 13.2 months. Comparing the two groups, no significant difference was revealed regarding gender, age, preoperative BMI or type of the operation. But the percent of excess weight loss was significantly higher in the group that formed gallstones. Conclusion: Gender, age, preoperative BMI and type of the operation were not predictive of gallstones formation after bariatric surgery. The percent of excess weight loss was the only predictive postoperative factor.

A novel 3-D graphical representation of protein sequence has been introduced. A right cone of a unit base and unit height has been selected to represent protein sequences on its surface. The twenty amino acids have been represented by 20 circles and all protein's residues have been represented by n lines on the cone's surface. All the spots which represent the protein's residues have been shown in the cone's top view. The spatial median of all the spots is used as a new descriptor of any protein sequence. This approach was applied on two short segments of protein of yeast saccharomyces cerevisiae. The examination of the similarities/dissimilarities for the eight ND5 proteins and the six β-globin proteins illustrate the utility of our approach. A linear correlation and significance analysis have been provided to compare our results and the percentage sequence alignment identity.
