Assessment of plant diversity of endemic species of the saharo-Arabian region in Egypt

savanna, semi-deserts, and hot deserts characterize the saharo-Arabian region, which includes Morocco, Mauretania, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Palestine, Kuwait, saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Yemen, southern Jordan, syria, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and northern India. Its neighboring regions, the sudano-Zambezian region belonging to the Paleotropical Kingdom and the Mediterranean and Irano-Turanian regions included in the holarctic Kingdom, share a large portion of their flora with the saharo-Arabian region. Despite the widespread acknowledgment of the region's global importance for plant diversity, an up to date list of the saharo-Arabian endemics is still unavailable. The available data are frequently insufficient or out of date at both the whole global and the national scales. Therefore, the present study aims at screening and verifying the saharo-Arabian endemic plants and determining the phytogeographical distribution of these taxa in the Egyptian flora. hence, a preliminary list of 429 saharo-Arabian endemic plants in Egypt was compiled from the available literature. Indeed, by excluding the species that were recorded in any countries or regions outside the saharo-Arabian region based on different literature, database reviews, and websites, the present study has reduced this number to 126 taxa belonging to 87 genera and 37 families. Regarding the national geographic distribution, south sinai is the richest region with 83 endemic species compared with other eight phytogeographic regions in Egypt, followed by the Isthmic Desert(the middle of sinai Peninsula, 53 taxa). sahara regional subzone(ss1) distributes all the 126 endemic species, Arabian regional subzone(ss2) owns 79 taxa, and Nubo-sindian subzone(ss3) distributes only 14 endemics. seven groups were recognized at the fourth level of classification as a result of the application of the two-way indicator species analysis(TWINsPAN) to the saharo-Arabian endemic sp

Effects of rotation and magnetic field on the nonlinear peristaltic flow of a second-order fluid in an asymmetric channel through a porous medium

In this paper, the effects of both rotation and magnetic field of the peristaltic transport of a second-order fluid through a porous medium in a channel are studied analytically and computed numerically. The material is represented by the constitutive equations for a second-order fluid. Closed-form solutions under the consideration of long wavelength and low Reynolds number is presented. The analytical expressions for the pressure gradient, pressure rise, friction force, stream function, shear stress, and velocity are obtained in the physical domain. The effects of the non-dimensional wave amplitude, porosity, magnetic field, rotation, and the dimensionless time-mean flow in the wave frame are analyzed theoretically and computed numerically. Numerical results are given and illustrated graphically in each case considered. Comparison was made with the results obtained in the presence and absence of rotation, magnetic field, and porosity. The results indicate that the effects of the non-dimensional wave amplitude, porosity, magnetic field, rotation, and the dimensionless time-mean flow are very pronounced in the phenomena.

Kinetics and Nanostructure Dependence of high Temperature-Low stress Creep of Al and Al-0.3%Fe

The novel nanostructure of AI and AI-Fe were prepared by ball milling alumina with elemental Fe. The kinetics and nanostructure dependence of high temperature low stress Newtonian creep of AI and AI-0.3%Fe have been investigated and compared with the predications of the Nabarro-herring （N-h） theory of directional diffusion. A simple theory based on the climb controlled generation of dislocations from a fixed density of sources is developed to explain the observed behavior. The dislocation density increases and subgrains form during the creep. Also, the presence of precipitates of FeAI3 reduces the creep rate of AI by absolute faster of 100 at the same stress and temperature, in spite of the fact that the grain size in the AI-0.3%Fe alloy is smaller by a factor of about 100 nm. The reduction of grain size to the nanometer scale improves their mechanical properties. Electron diffraction methods combined with transmission electron microscopy （TEM） and scanning electron microscopy （sEM） studies are a convenient and powerful technique for the characterization of the phases and grain structure of the resulting materials.

Physico-analytical studies on salicylaldehyde Thiosemicarbazone Complexes

The complexes of salicylaldehyde thiosemicarbazone with Pd, Cu and Ru were prepared. The prepared complexes were characterized by spectroscopic, element and thermal analyses and D.C. conductivity measurements. The antimicrobial activity of all the prepared compounds against gram-positive, gram-negative and fungi was studied. From these studies, it has been obtained that the ligand is bonded to the metals through O, N and s, but to palladium in [Pd (h//2L//2)] Cl//2 only through N and O. Biological studies confirm that the organic effect on both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria is very weak and their complexes have no effect on fungi, but Cu-complex has strong influence on both types of bacteria. Effect of magnetic field on poroelastic bone model for internal remodeling

This paper studies the effects of the magnetic field and the porosity on a poroelastic bone model for internal remodeling. The solution of the internal bone remodeling process induced by a magnetic field is presented. The bone is treated as a poroelastic material by Biot＇s formulation. Based on the theory of small strain adaptive elasticity, a theoretical approach for the internal remodeling is proposed. The components of the stresses, the displacements, and the rate of internal remodeling are obtained in analytical forms, and the numerical results are represented graphically. The results indicate that the effects of the magnetic field and the porosity on the rate of internal remodeling in bone are very pronounced.

Effects of rotation and gravity on an electro-magneto-thermoelastic medium with diffusion and voids by using the Lord-shulman and dual-phase-lag models

The effects of rotation and gravity on an electro-magneto-thermoelastic medium with diffusion and voids in a generalized thermoplastic half-space are studied by using the Lord-shulman (L-s) model and the dual-phase-lag (DPL) model. The analytical solutions for the displacements, stresses, temperature, diffusion concentration, and volume fraction field with different values of the magnetic field, the rotation, the gravity, and the initial stress are obtained and portrayed graphically. The results indicate that the effects of gravity, rotation, voids, diffusion, initial stress, and electromagnetic field are very pronounced on the physical properties of the material.

The present investigation is intended to demonstrate the magnetic field,relaxation time,hydrostatic initial stress,and two temperature on the thermal shock *** governing equations are formulated in the context of Lord-shulman theory with the presence of bodily force,two temperatures,thermal shock,and hydrostatic initial *** obtained the exact solution using the normal mode technique with appropriate boundary *** field quantities are calculated analytically and displayed graphically under thermal shock problem with effect of external parameters respect to space *** results obtained are agreeing with the previous results obtained by others when the new parameters *** results indicate that the effect of magnetic field and initial stress on the conductor temperature,thermodynamic temperature,displacement and stress are quite *** order to illustrate and verify the analytical development,the numerical results of temperature,displacement and stress are carried out and computer simulated results are presented *** study helpful in the development of piezoelectric devices.

Water is the most essential natural resource for the future *** production is extensively water-dependent and a significant polluter of water ***,this work investigated the effect of two different preparation media[Bold’s Basal Medium(BBM)and Domiati cheese whey(DCW)]for agricultural drainage water(ADW)*** treatments were incubated for 6 *** to the results of biomass productivity,specific growth rate,photosynthetic pigments,and biochemical composition,Desmodesmus *** grow in drainage water without *** two treatments significantly reduced the concentration of nitrate,phosphate,chemical oxygen demand,and sodium in ***,using cheese whey with BBM as inoculum preparation media enhanced the lipid accumulation in the algal biomass(25.4%w/w)and gave the best biodiesel properties among ***,combining remediation of drainage water with microalgae mass production can achieve the sustainability of agriculture.

Lymphocytic colitis: A clue to bacterial etiology

AIM： To find out the role of bacteria as a possible etiological factor in lymphocytic colitis. METhODs： Twenty patients with histopathological diagnosis of lymphocytic colitis and 10 normal controls were included in this study. Colonoscopic biopsies were obtained from three sites （hepatic and splenic flexures and rectosigmoid region）. Each biopsy was divided into two parts. A fresh part was incubated on special cultures for bacterial growth. The other part was used for the preparation of histologic tissue sections that were examined for the presence of bacteria with the help of Giemsa stain. REsULTs： Culture of tissue biopsies revealed bacterial growth in 18 out of 20 patients with lymphocytic colitis mostly Escherichia coil （14/18）, which was found in all rectosigmoid specimens （14/14）, but only in 8/14 and 6/14 of splenic and hepatic flexure specimens respectively. In two of these cases, E coli was associated with proteus. Proteus was found only in one case, Klebsiella in two cases, and staphylococcus aureus in one case. In the control group, only 2 out of 10 controls showed the growth of E coli in their biopsy cultures. histopathology showed rod-shaped bacilli in the tissue sections of 12 out of 14 cases with positive E coli in their specimen＇s culture. None of the controls showed these bacteria in histopathological sections. CONCLUsION： This preliminary study reports an association between E coli and lymphocytic colitis, based on histological and culture observations. serotyping and molecular studies are in process to assess the role of E coli in the pathogenesis of lymphocytic colitis.

hydrogen Bonding in hydrogenated Amorphous Germanium

Thin films of hydrogenated amorphous germanium (a-Ge:h) were prepared by radio frequency glow discharge deposition at various substrate temperatures. The hydrogen distribution and bonding struc-ture in a-Ge:h were discussed based on infrared absorption data. The correlation between infrared absorp-tion spectra and hydrogen effusion measurements was used to determine the proportionality constant for each vibration mode of the Ge-h bonds. The results reveal that the bending mode appearing at 835 cm1 is associated with the Ge-h2 (dihydride) groups on the internal surfaces of voids. While 1880 cm1 is assigned to vibrations of Ge-h (monohydride) groups in the bulk, the 2000 cm1 stretching mode is attributed to Ge-h and Ge-h2 bonds located on the surfaces of voids. For films associated with bending modes in the infrared spectra, the proportionality constant values of the stretching modes near 1880 and 2000 cm1 are found to be lower than those of films which had no corresponding bending modes.
