Widely distribution of hematological parameters in thalassemia patients with similar α-globin genotype

Background Thalassemia is known as the commonest monogenic disorder with an imbalanced rate of globin chains production of adult hemoglobin. Despite the available information about the thalassemia etiology, its phenotype varies from each patient to another. This study aimed to evaluate the hematological parameters of patients with the same -α3.7 homozygote and heterozygote genotypes to amend screening *** In this observational study, we evaluated 1301 thalassemia suspected patients who referred to the Thalassemia and Hemoglobinopathy Research Center of Ahvaz University of Medical Sciences, Khuzestan, Iran during 2014-2016. According to the genotyping studies, patients divided into 2 groups with -α3.7/αα (n = 646) and -α3.7/-α3.7 (n = 181) genotypes. Thereafter, distribution of hematological parameters evaluated in both *** The mean age in heterozygous and homozygous groups was 25.7±4.5 and 26±4.4 years old, respectively. Preparation, characterization, and antibacterial activity of γ-irradiated silver nanoparticles in aqueous gelatin

Colloidal silver nanoparticles （Ag-NPs） were obtained through γ-irradiation of aqueous solutions containing AgNO3 and gelatin as a silver source and stabilizer, respectively. The absorbed dose of γ-irradiation influences the particle diameter of the Ag-NPs, as evidenced from surface plasmon resonance （SPR） and transmission electron microscopy （TEM） images. When the γ-irradiation dose was increased （from 2 to 50 kGy）, the mean particle size was decreased continuously as a result of γ-induced Ag-NPs fragmentation. The antibacterial properties of the Ag-NPs were tested against Methicillinresistant Staphylococcus aureus （MRSA）（Gram-positive） and Pseudomonas aeruginosa （P.a）（Gram-negative） bacteria. This approach reveals that the γ-irradiation-mediated method is a promising simple route for synthesizing highly stable Ag-NPs in aqueous solutions with good antibacterial properties for different applications.

A laser ablation technique is applied for synthesis of silver nanoparticles in different concentrations of polyvinyl alcohol （PVA） aqueous solution. The ablation of high pure silver plate in the solution is carried out by a nanosecond Q-switched Nd：YAG pulsed laser. X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy are implemented to explore the particles sizes. The effects of PYA concentrations on the absorbance of the silver nanoparticles are studied as well, by using a UV-vis spectrophotometer. The preparation process is carried out for deionized water as a reference sample. The comparison of the obtained results with the reference sample shows that the formation efficiency of nanoparticles in PYA is much higher and the sizes of particles are also smaller.

A 24-year-old woman presented with an 8-year history of a recurrent asymptomatic rash characterized by small erythematous papules which evolved to form atrophic porcelain white scars with a telangectatic rim. She had never had gastrointestinal or neurological symptoms. A short trial of aspirin did not alter the behavior of the disease. Histology confirmed the clinical diagnosis of Degos disease. Degos disease is a rare disorder that has been classified into the benign or malignant variety. The malignant type has a poor prognosis. Gastrointestinal involvement is the most frequent cause of death. The existence of patients with a prolonged, purely cutaneous or benign form has been increasingly recognized. It may be impossible to classify a patient at the time of initial presentation. Her progress is consistent with the benign form.

试验研究了石榴果皮提取物(PPE)对营养物质消化、瘤胃发酵特性、原虫数量和奶牛性能的影响。试验选取荷斯坦奶牛4头,采用4×4拉丁方试验设计,试验期为4 d,分为PPE 0(不添加提取物)、PPE 400(PPE 400 mL·头-1·d-1)、PPE 800(PPE 800 mL·头-1·d-1)、PPE 1 200(PPE 1 200 mL·头-1·d-1)4组。测定干物质采食量、产奶量,干物质、有机物、粗蛋白质、中性洗涤纤维和酸性洗涤纤维的消化率。同时还测定奶牛瘤胃发酵特性,包括瘤胃pH、NH3-N的浓度、挥发性脂肪酸(VFA)浓度、瘤胃液VFA各组分摩尔浓度、原虫数量和微生物氮。PPE组提高了产奶量、4%标准乳产奶量、乳脂、乳蛋白质产量和产奶性能。添加PPE对奶中乳脂、真蛋白质和乳糖的百分比无影响。PPE降低了NH3-N浓度、总原虫数量、等毛虫属原虫和内毛虫属原虫数量,但微生物氮产量上升。添加PPE对总VFA和VFA各组分摩尔浓度无影响。研究表明,添加PPE可以减少原虫数量、NH3-N浓度,并能提高微生物氮和奶牛的产量和质量。
