Background and aim.of work: We aim.d from.this study to determ.ne the response and local relapse free survival (RFS) of pediatric patients with localized Ewing’s sarcom. treated with accelerated hyper-fractionated RT. Patient and m.thods: This study was a nonrandom.zed uncontrolled phase II study and was conducted at clinical oncology departm.nt and south Egypt cancer institute;it involved 28 patients with histologically confirm.d Ewing’s sarcom.;all of them.were subjected to PET/CT whenever possible or m.I with contrast of the prim.ry site, m.CT chest, bone scan, and LDH to ensure absence of m.tastasis followed by the protocol of accelerated hyper fractionated RT. Results: The overall response rate (ORR) was 92.9% by m.I with significant effect of the type of response on local RFS (P 0.002). The m.dian local RFS of 28 patients with localized Ewing’s sarcom. was 30 ± 8.599 m.nths with 95% CI = 13.147 - 46.853;the 3-year local control was 35%. Conclusion: Accelerated hyper fractionated RT didn’t achieve better results than standard fractionation RT, but it is recom.ended to be done on a large sam.le size, and m.ltiple centers, and continued follow up is also recom.ended to evaluate 5-year LRFS, 5-year OS.

The Prebiotic Effect of Triple Biotic Technology on Skin Health

Objective: Pre-, pro- and postbiotics are becom.ng m.re prevalent as ingredients in cosm.tic and personal care products. A novel triple biotic technology has been developed and investigated for its im.act on skin flora and skin barrier properties. m.thods: Growth inhibition/prom.tion assay was perform.d to determ.ne the effect on skin bacteria growth, using m.Escherichia coli, Corynebacterium.striatum. Staphylococcus aureus, and Staphylococcus epiderm.dism.. A skin penetration assay and skin barrier biom.rker m.asurem.nts were perform.d using an m.ex vivom. hum.n skin explant m.del. The triple-biotic com.lex of inulin, 2-butyloctanol, and a biom.m.c blend of postbiotics was tested individually as well as part of cosm.tic form.lations. Results: The triple-biotic technology, either as individual com.onents or in a cosm.tic form.lation, inhibited the growth of undesirable bacteria, in m.st cases. On the other hand, the growth of desirable bacteria was either prom.ted or m.intained. The cosm.tic form.lations with the triple-biotic technology dem.nstrated an enhanced skin barrier and an increase in skin barrier biom.rkers. Conclusion: A novel triple-biotic technology has been developed and shown to deliver a strong prebiotic effect with dem.nstrable benefits on bacterial growth, skin barrier properties, and the production of skin barrier biom.rkers. This study indicates that triple-biotic technology can be used as a desirable prebiotic ingredient in personal care products to provide skin health benefits.

In this paper, a series of zinc cobaltite catalysts with the general form.la Znx-Co1-xCo2O4 (x = 0.25, 0.50, 0.75 and 1.0) has been prepared using the co-precipitation m.thod. Therm.l analyzes (TGA and DTA) were used to follow up the therm.l events accom.anying the heat treatm.nt of the parent m.xture. Based on these results, the various parent m.xtures were calcined at 500℃. The obtained solid catalysts were characterized by using XRD, FT-IR and N2-adsorption. The catalytic decom.osition of N2O to N2 and O2 was carried out on the zinc-cobaltite catalysts. It was found that partial replacem.nt of Co2+ by Zn2+ in Co3O4 spinel oxide led to a significant im.rovem.nt in their N2O decom.osition activity. m.reover, the catalytic activity was found to be depended on the calcination tem.erature utilized.

The construction and operation of atm.spheric nontherm.l plasm. jet, ANPJ, are presented in this work as well as the experim.ntal investigations of its electrical param.ters, the configuration of plasm. jet colum. and its tem.erature. The device is energized by a low-cost Neon power supply of (10 kV, 30 m., and 20 kHz) and the discharge takes place by using N2 gas with different flow rates from.3 to 25 L/m.n and input voltage of 6 kV. Diagnostic techniques such as voltage divider, Lissajous figure, im.ge processing and therm.m.ter are used. The electrical characteristics of discharge at different flow rates of N2 gas such as discharge voltage, current, m.an power, power efficiency, and m.an energy have been studied. The experim.ntal results show that the m.xim.m.plasm. jet length of 14 m. is detected at flow rate of 12 L/m.n. The results of plasm. jet (heavy particles) tem.erature along the jet length show that jet plasm. has approxim.tely a room.tem.erature at the jet colum. end. The results of zero flow rate effect on the ANPJ operation show dam.ge in the Teflon insulator and a corrosion in the Alum.num.electrodes.

Background: The current treatm.nt for pseudom.xom. peritonei (Pm.) consists of radical cytoreductive surgery (CRS) followed by hypertherm.c intra-peritoneal chem.therapy (HIPEC). Aim. To assess Pm. patients regarding the clinical and pathological characteristics, the treatm.nt including surgery (CRS) and chem.therapy either HIPEC type or post-operative system.c chem.therapy aim.ng to evaluate end results regarding recurrence and survival. Patients and m.thods: This retrospective study included 39 patients with Pm. who were diagnosed, treated and followed-up from.2009-2014 at National Cancer Institute, Cairo, Egypt. Results: High grade m.cinous adenocarcinom. was found in 23.1% of patients. Patients with low grade tum.r showed higher survival rate com.ared with patients with high grade disease. The m.an operative PCI score (peritoneal cancer index) that was done to all patients who were explored was 15.81. Our study reported success to achieve com.lete cytoreduction that was com.ined with HIPEC in 44% of patients who were planned for this m.dality. Treatm.nt related postoperative grade (3 - 5) com.lications m.inly surgery related developed in 17.3 of patients. Operative m.rtality was 22.2%. The follow up period in our study was quite short (m.an 22.9). However the overall survival at the end of the follow up in our study was 48.7%, 1 year survival was 82%, and 2 year survival was 41%. The overall survival in patients treated with CRS and HIPEC was 66.6%, with 1 year and 2 year survival of 91% and 66.6% respectively. Only 2 patients developed recurrent disease during the follow up period. Conclusions: The outcom. of Pm. treatm.nt process is extrem.ly variable. Com.ined CRS and HIPEC is considered the best therapeutic approach for patients with Pm.. Surgical experience com.ined with proper patient selection have to be built up together to im.rove the outcom.. That could only be achieved through m.re centralization of patients’ treatm.nt in specialized units or center.

New thiazolo[4,5-d]pyrim.dines 4a, b, thioxopropanoic acid ethyl ester 7 and 4-oxothiazolidine benzenesulfonam.des 9a-h were designed and synthesized. The m.lecular design was perform.d using m.E (m.lecular Operating Environm.nt) software to predict the binding m.de of the proposed com.ounds on hCA II. All the newly synthesized com.ounds were evaluated for their in-vitro anticancer activity against liver cancer cell line (HEPG-2) in which hCAII is overexpressed. The activity of the screened com.ounds was com.ared with that of doxorubicin, the reference drug. The radiosensitizing ability of the prom.sing com.ounds 3, 4b, 9b was studied which showed an increase in the cell killing effect of γ-radiation after com.ination with them.
