Photocatalytic degradation of the diazo dye naphthol blue black in water using MWCNT/Gd,N,S-TiO_2 nanocomposites under simulated solar light

A simple sol-gel method was employed to prepare gadolinium, nitrogen and sulphur tridoped titania decorated on oxidised multiwalled carbon nanotubes（MWCNT/Gd,N,S-Ti O2）, using titanium（IV） butoxide and thiourea as titanium and nitrogen and sulphur source, respectively. Samples of varying gadolinium loadings（0.2%, 0.6%, 1.0% and3.0% Gd3＋） relative to titania were prepared to investigate the effect of gadolinium loading and the amounts of carbon nanotubes, nitrogen and sulphur were kept constant for all the samples. Furthermore, the prepared nanocomposites were evaluated for the degradation of naphthol blue black（NBB） in water under simulated solar light irradiation. Higher degradation efficiency（95.7%） was recorded for the MWCNT/Gd,N,S-Ti O2（0.6% Gd）nanocomposites. The higher photocatalytic activity is attributed to the combined effect of improved visible light absorption and charge separation due to the synergistic effect of Gd,MWCNTs, N, S and Ti O2. Total organic carbon（TOC） analysis revealed a higher degree of complete mineralisation of naphthol blue black（78.0% TOC removal） which minimises the possible formation of toxic degradation by-products such as the aromatic amines. The MWCNT/Gd,N,S-Ti O2（0.6% Gd） was fairly stable and could be re-used for five times,reaching a maximum degradation efficiency of 91.8% after the five cycles.

Immunity against pathogenic challenge requires the engagement of pathogen origin molecular signatures by innate immune sensors that are expressed on various immune and non-immune *** microbial pathogen primarily includes various bacteria or *** sensing of viruses leads to the complex interaction of innate immune sensors,which consist of families of evolutionarily conserved germline-encoded molecules known as pathogen recognition receptors(PRRs).This family includes RIG-I-like receptors(RLRs),Toll-like receptors(TLRs),NOD-like receptors(NLRs)1 and DNA sensors(cGAS,IFI16,DAI and AIM2).2 The cytoplasmic helicases RIG-I and MDA5 are the key innate sensors that detect viral genomic RNAs.A few Toll-like receptors(TLRs),such as TLR3,TLR7,TLR8 and TLR9,are present on endocytic vesicles and are crucial for sensing nucleic acid from viruses and inducing the appropriate innate immune responses.

Spatio-temporal variation of trace elements distributed over surface water of Upper Ganga River Basin in Western Himalayan Region

The rivers draining from the Himalayan range distribute enormous amount of fresh water to the people living in downstream *** metals flowed with river water can lead to serious impact on ecological system and human ***,the documentation on trace elements of Himalayan rivers is inadequately *** current study deals with the spatial and temporal variability of the major and trace elements of Ganga river water in epirhithron,metarhithron and hyporhithron zone belonging to Himalayan *** samples from nineteen monitoring locations were collected in pre-monsoon(May-June),monsoon(AugustSeptember)and post-monsoon(December)seasons and subjected to be assessed for 20 elements(Ag,Al,Ba,Cd,Ca,Cr,Cu,Fe,Ga,K,Mn,Mg,Na,Ni,Pb,Sr,Th,U,Zn,and Zr)using ICP-OES(Inductively Coupled Plasma-Optical Emission Spectrometer).Different water pollution indexes such as HPI(Heavy Metal Pollution Index),MI(Metal Index)and PI(Pollution Index)were used to describe current water quality status at each monitoring station under particular classified ecological *** studied stations in hyporhithron zone had the value of Metal Index(MI>1),indicating threshold of ***,the highest values of HPI in hyporhithron zone correspond to poor water quality *** with poor water quality were also found to be contaminated as per the Pollution Index(PI),exhibiting high concentrations for element(Fe).However,the epirhithron and metarhithron zone in Himalayan segment showed excellent water quality mainly contributed from natural *** Analysis(CA)and Principal Component Analysis(PCA)were applied to identify the main influential sources for Ganga river water *** Kriging interpolation method was also applied to prepare spatial distribution map of computed indexes(HPI,MI,and PI).With the help of index of local Moran’s I(LMI),identified spatial clusters and spatial outliers revealed the elevated concentration of most elements in hyporhithr

Bio-oil and biochar production using thermal and catalytic pyrolysis of low-value waste neem seeds over low-cost catalysts:effects of operating conditions on product yields and studies of physicochemical characteristics of bio-oil and biochar

This study addressed a comparative assessment of the effect of low-cost catalysts on the yield and physicochemical properties of *** and catalytic pyrolysis of neem seeds(NM)was conducted in a fixed bed semi-batch reactor at optimum conditions(550°C temperature,80°C min−1 heating rate,0.5 mm particle size,and 100 mL min−1 sweep gas flow rate).The produced bio-oil and biochar were characterized through thermal stability,elemental composition(CHNS),higher heating value(HHV),Nuclear Magnetic Resonance(NMR)spectroscopy,Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy(FESEM),Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry(GC-MS),zeta potential,water-holding capacity(WHC),and BET(Brunauer,Emmett and Teller)surface area ***,it was noticed that the use of catalysts at optimized condition substantially boosted the quality and yield of *** results established that thermal pyrolysis yielded 49.53 wt.%of bio-oil,while catalytic pyrolysis yielded(51.25 wt.%,53.12 wt.%,48.68 wt.%,and 50.65 wt.%for MgO,NaOH,Al_(2)O_(3),and ZSM-5,respectively)at 20 wt.%catalyst *** physicochemical study of bio-oil confirmed improved properties of bio-oil in terms of viscosity,heating value,pH and carbon ***,the FTIR study of bio-oil indicates the occurrence of phenolic products,aromatics,ketones,acidic compounds,esters,alcohol and aldehyde impurities,whereas 1H NMR study supported FTIR ***-MS study demonstrated that the introduc-tion of catalysts significantly reduced the oxygenated substances,acidic products,phenolic compounds and substantially increased the ***,characterization results of neem seed biochar(NMC)established the existence of HHV(23.26 MJ kg^(−1)),carbon content(62.66%),zeta potential(31.68 mV),water holding capacity(41.50%)and lower BET surface area(4.60 m^(2)g^(−1)).

Co-pyrolysis of waste biomass and waste plastics(polystyrene and waste nitrile gloves)into renewable fuel and value-added chemicals

The present study addresses the influence of blending of waste plastics(i.e.,polystyrene,PS and waste nitrile gloves,WNG)with mahua seeds(MH)for co-pyrolytic liquid yield and its fuel *** blends of waste plastics were mixed with biomass(10,20 and 30 wt%)and pyrolyzed in a semi-batch reactor at an optimized environment(550℃ temperature,80℃ min^(-1) heating rate,and 100 mL min^(-1) N_(2) flow rate).Physicochemical results displayed its ability to yield renewable fuel and valuable ***-pyrolysis outcomes showed that blending of waste plastics at 20 wt%,yielded maximum liquid(44.18±1.2 wt%and 45.89±1.4 wt%for MH+WNG and MH+PS respectively)which was higher than thermal pyrolysis of individual MH(39.26±1.2 wt%).Further,characterization results revealed a substantial reduction in viscosity,oxygen content,moisture,and a positive increment in gross heating value,carbon content and *** examination exposed the attendance of mainly aromatics,acids,phenols,water,esters and ***,NMR analysis of pyrolytic oil confirmed an increase in aromaticity by blending of waste plastics(20 wt%)while there was a reduction in paraffinic ***-MS investigation revealed substantial improvement in hydrocarbons and minimization in the oxygen-rich products by blending of waste plastics at 20 wt%.
