Medicinal plants are facing threats due to loss of habitat and overexploitation of knows species. Therefore the present work shows utilization of essential oil from discarded leaves of Psidium guajava Linn. against human dermatophytic fungi Trichophyton rubrum, T. mentagrophytes, Trichophyton violaceum, Trichophyton tonsurans, Epidermophyton floccosum, Microsporum gypseum and Microsporum canis. The oil was found to be fungicidal at 3.0 μl/ml and it tolerated heavy inoculum of pathogens at fungicidal concentrations. The fungicidal activity of the oil was thermostable, up to 70°C and shelf life was found to be six months, which was maximum the time taken into consideration. The oil having cineole, caryophyllane, copaene, azulene and eucalyptol as main constituents, exhibited broad fungicidal activity. The oil did not show any adverse effect on mammalian skin upto 5% concentration. Phylogeny of the dermatophytes with respect to toxicity of the oil has also been discussed using molecular data. The cost effective formulation from waste leaves can be exploited after undergoing double blind successful multicentral topical testing.

We use a combination of both algebraic and numerical techniques to construct a C-1-continuous, piecewise (m, n) rational epsilon-approximation of a real algebraic plane curve of degree d. At singular points we use the classical Weierstrass Preparation Theorem and Newton power series factorizations, based on the technique of Hensel lifting. These, together with modified rational Pade approximations, are used to efficiently construct locally approximate, rational parametric representations for all real branches of an algebraic plane curve. Besides singular points we obtain an adaptive selection of simple points about which the curve approximations yield a small number of pieces yet achieve C-1 continuity between pieces. The simpler cases of C-1 and C-0 continuity are also handled in a similar manner. The computation of singularity, the approximation error bounds and details of the implementation of these algorithms are also provided.

In this paper,a new design method for digital infinite impulse response(IIR)filters with nearly linear-phase response is presented using fractional derivative constraints(FDCs).In the proposed method,design problem of an IIR frlter is constructed as the minimization of phase error between the desired and designed phase response of an allpass filter(APF)such that the designed lowpass filter(LPF)or highpass frlter(HPF)yields less passband(ep),and stopband errors(es)with optimal stopband attenuation(As).In order to have accurate passband(pb)response,FDCs are imposed on appropriate reference frequency,where the optimality of these FDCs are ensured by using a new greedy based sorting *** simulated results reflect the efficiency of the proposed method in term of improved passband response along with better transition ***,small reduction in^is observed within the allowable limit,when compared to noin-fractional design approach,but the designed filter remains immune to wordlength(WL)effect.

Minimal hepatic encephalopathy is a neuro-cognitive dysfunction which occurs in an epidemic proportion of cirrhotic patients,estimated as high as 80% of the population tested. It is characterized by a specific,complex cognitive dysfunction which is independent of sleep dysfunction or problems with overall intelligence. Although named "minimal",minimal hepatic encephalopathy(MHE) can have a far-reaching impact on quality of life,ability to function in daily life and progression to overt hepatic encephalopathy. Importantly,MHE has a profound negative impact on the ability to drive a car and may be a significant factor behind motor vehicle accidents. A crucial aspect of the clinical care of MHE patients is their driving history,which is often ignored in routine care and can add a vital dimension to the overall disease assessment. Driving history should be an integral part of care in patients with MHE. The lack of specific signs and symptoms,the preserved communication skills and lack of insight make MHE a difficult condition to diagnose. Diagnostic strategies for MHE abound,but are usually limited by financial,normative or time constraints. Recent studies into the inhibitory control and critical flicker frequency tests are encouraging since these tests can increase the rates of MHE diagnosis without requiring a psychologist. Although testing for MHE and subsequent therapy is not standard of care at this time,it is important to consider this in cirrhotics in order to improve their ability to live their life to the fullest.

This work introduces the facile hydrothermal synthesis of double perovskite La2CuCoO6.X-ray diffraction pattern confirmed the formation of a monoclinic phase with P121/c1 *** electron microscopy results revealed that the self-assembled porous rods were composed of nanocrystallite *** estimated specific surface area of these mesoporous rods with an average pore diameter of 6 nm was^41 m^2·g^–*** presence of ions with oxidation states of La^3+,Cu^2+,and Co^2+/Co^3+on the surface of the mesoporous La2CuCoO6 rods was confirmed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopic *** cyclicvoltammetry and chronopotentiometry,the electrode fabricated from the mesoporous La2CuCoO6 rods were found to exhibit pseudocapacitive behavior with a specific capacitance of 259.4 F·g^–1 at a current density of 0.5 A·g^–***^89%retention in specific capacitance was achieved after 1000 charge/discharge cycles at a constant current density of4 A·g^–1.

Removing the smog from digital images is a challenging pre-processing tool in various imaging ***,many smog removal(i.e.,desmogging)models are proposed so far to remove the effect of smog from *** desmogging models are based upon a physical model,it means it requires efficient estimation of transmission map and atmospheric veil from a single smoggy ***,many prior based restoration models are proposed in the literature to estimate the transmission map and an atmospheric ***,these models utilized computationally extensive minimization of an energy ***,the existing restoration models suffer from various issues such as distortion of texture,edges,and ***,in this paper,a convolutional neural network(CNN)is used to estimate the physical attributes of smoggy *** gradient channel prior(OGCP)is utilized to restore the smoggy ***,a dataset of smoggy and sunny images are ***,we have trained CNN to estimate the smog gradient from smoggy ***,based upon the computed smog gradient,OGCP is utilized to restore the still smoggy *** analyses reveal that the proposed CNN-OGCP based desmogging model outperforms the existing desmogging models in terms of various performance metrics.

We present a general framework for a higher-order spline level-set （HLS） method and apply this to biomolecule surfaces construction. Starting from a first order energy functional, we obtain a general level set formulation of geometric partial differential equation, and provide an efficient approach to solving this partial differential equation using a C2 spline basis. We also present a fast cubic spline interpolation algorithm based on convolution and the Z-transform, which exploits the local relationship of interpolatory cubic spline coefficients with respect to given function data values. Lithium calcium borate （LiCaBO3） polycrystalline thermoluminescence （TL） phosphor doped with rare earth （Tb3＋ and Dy3＋） elements was synthesized by novel solution combustion synthesis. The reaction produced very stable crystalline LiCaBO3：D（D=Tb3＋ and Dy3＋） phosphors. These rare earth doped phosphors material showed maximum TL sensitivity with favorable glow curve shape. TL glow curve of X-ray irradiated that LiCaBO3：Tb3＋ and LiCaBO3：Dy3＋ samples showed two major well-separated glow peaks. The TL sensitivity of these phosphors to X-ray radiation was comparable with that of TLD-100（Harshaw）. Photoluminescence spectra of LiCaBO3：Tb3＋ and LiCaBO3：Dy3＋ showed the characteristic Tb3＋ and Dy3＋ peaks respectively. TL response to X-ray radiation dose was linear up to 25 Gy.

A Context Sensitive Multilevel Thresholding Using Swarm Based Algorithms

In this paper, a comprehensive energy function is used to formulate the three most popular objective functions:Kapur's, Otsu and Tsalli's functions for performing effective multilevel color image thresholding. These new energy based objective criterions are further combined with the proficient search capability of swarm based algorithms to improve the efficiency and robustness. The proposed multilevel thresholding approach accurately determines the optimal threshold values by using generated energy curve, and acutely distinguishes different objects within the multi-channel complex images. The performance evaluation indices and experiments on different test images illustrate that Kapur's entropy aided with differential evolution and bacterial foraging optimization algorithm generates the most accurate and visually pleasing segmented images.
