Petrogenesis of the Borjuri diorite pluton in the Mikir Massif of Northeast India:implications for post-collisional intermediate magmatism during the Pan-African orogeny

The Assam-Meghalaya Gneissic Complex(AMGC)of northeast India contains numerous Pan-African granitic bodies that have been attributed to post-collisional rift-related magmatism.The present study is concerned with the first appraisal of intermediate magmatism(diorite,monzonite,and monzodiorite)found in the Borjuri Pluton of Mikir Massif,which is the eastern extension of AMGC.The diorites are strongly metaluminous and exhibit enriched LREE([La/Yb]N=1.63–7.37)with respect to HREE([Gd/Yb]N=1.95–2.27).The studied rocks do not show any mineralogical or textural indication of metamorphism.Tectonic discrimination diagrams indicate that these rocks originated in a within-plate tectonic setting.The lower Mg#(33.49–38.69),low Cr(below detection limit),and Ni(27–41 ppm)contents along with elemental ratios such as Rb/Sr(0.32–0.95),La/Nb(0.49–4.21),and Nb/Ce(0.11–0.64)suggest a crustal source for the diorites.Discrimination diagrams coupled with elemental ratios suggest that these rocks originated due to partial melting of mafic components in the crust with possible contribution from mantle materials.The P–T conditions of diorite emplacement(7.4 kbar,688℃)were calculated using the amphibole-plagioclase geothermobarometer.Geochemical and geochronological data of the Pan-African felsic plutons reported from the AMGC indicate that these rocks were emplaced in a post-collisional extensional regime.The Borjuri Pluton is in close proximity with the Kathalguri Pluton,which has been reported as a product of PanAfrican magmatism.In view of the numerous extensional Pan-African felsic magmatism reported from the AMGC and based on the close vicinity of the Borjuri diorites with the Kathalguri granites,we speculate that the Borjuri diorites are products of the Pan-African post-collisional magmatism.

Investigation of proton structure function F_(2)^(p)at HERA in light of an analytical solution to the Balitsky–Kovchegov equation

In this paper,the proton structure function F_(2)^(p)(x,Q^(2))at small-x is investigated using an analytical solution to the Balitsky–Kovchegov(BK)equation.In the context of the color dipole description of deep inelastic scattering(DIS),the structure function F_(2)^(p)(x,Q^(2))is computed by applying the analytical expression for the scattering amplitude N(k,Y)derived from the BK solution.At transverse momentum k and total rapidity Y,the scattering amplitude N(k,Y)represents the propagation of the quark-antiquark dipole in the color dipole description of DIS.Using the BK solution we extracted the integrated gluon density xg(x,Q^(2))and then compared our theoretical estimation with the LHAPDF global data fits,NNPDF3.1sx and CT18.Finally,we have investigated the behavior of F_(2)^(p)(x,Q^(2))in the kinematic region of 10^(-5)≤x≤10^(-2)and 2.5 GeV^(2)≤Q^(2)≤60 GeV^(2).Our predicted results for F_(2)^(p)(x,Q^(2))within the specified kinematic region are in good agreement with the recent high-precision data for F_(2)^(p)(x,Q^(2))from HERA(H1 Collaboration)and the LHAPDF global parametrization group NNPDF3.1sx.

Multimodal medical image fusion has attained immense popularity in recent years due to its robust technology for clinical diagnosis.It fuses multiple images into a single image to improve the quality of images by retaining significant information and aiding diagnostic practitioners in diagnosing and treating many diseases.However,recent image fusion techniques have encountered several challenges,including fusion artifacts,algorithm complexity,and high computing costs.To solve these problems,this study presents a novel medical image fusion strategy by combining the benefits of pixel significance with edge-preserving processing to achieve the best fusion performance.First,the method employs a cross-bilateral filter(CBF)that utilizes one image to determine the kernel and the other for filtering,and vice versa,by considering both geometric closeness and the gray-level similarities of neighboring pixels of the images without smoothing edges.The outputs of CBF are then subtracted from the original images to obtain detailed images.It further proposes to use edge-preserving processing that combines linear lowpass filtering with a non-linear technique that enables the selection of relevant regions in detailed images while maintaining structural properties.These regions are selected using morphologically processed linear filter residuals to identify the significant regions with high-amplitude edges and adequate size.The outputs of low-pass filtering are fused with meaningfully restored regions to reconstruct the original shape of the edges.In addition,weight computations are performed using these reconstructed images,and these weights are then fused with the original input images to produce a final fusion result by estimating the strength of horizontal and vertical details.Numerous standard quality evaluation metrics with complementary properties are used for comparison with existing,well-known algorithms objectively to validate the fusion results.Experimental results from the proposed research article exhibit superior per

The presence of toxic mercury (Ⅱ) in water is an ever-growing problem on earth that has various harmful effect on human health and aquatic living organisms.Therefore,detection of mercury (Ⅱ) in water is very much crucial and several researches are going on in this topic.Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are considered as an effective device for sensing of toxic heavy metal ions in water.The tunable functionalities with large surface area of highly semiconducting MOFs enhance its activity towards fluorescence sensing.In this study,we are reporting one highly selective and sensitive luminescent sensor for the detection of mercury (Ⅱ) in water.A series of binary MOF composites were synthesized using in-situ solvothermal synthetic technique for fluorescence sensing of Hg^(2+)in water.The welldistributed graphitic carbon nitride quantum dots on porous zirconium-based MOF improve Hg^(2+)sensing activity in water owing to their great electronic and optical properties.The binary MOF composite (2) i.e.,the sensor exhibited excellent limit of detection (LOD) value of 2.4 nmol/L for Hg^(2+).The sensor also exhibited excellent performance for mercury (Ⅱ)detection in real water samples.The characterizations of the synthesized materials were done using various spectroscopic techniques and the fluorescence sensing mechanism was studied.

Geochemical and mineralogical evaluations of coal,shale,and mine waste overburden from Makum coalfield of the Northeast India

The Cenozoic-age Makum coal from northeastern India offers numerous research opportunities because of its diverse geochemical and geological characteristics.Due to its high sulfur content,the coal has been found to be less useful for industrial purposes.It can,however,serve as a hub for ongoing research on coal-based derivative products.The aim of this research work is to investigate the mineralogical and geochemical compositions of the coal,mine overburden(MOB)and shale samples taken from the Makum coal field and also on establishing a mutual relationship between them.To characterize the geochemical controlling factors of the Makum coal field,the study employs coal petrography,FTIR,mineralogical,and geochemical analysis.According to X-ray diffraction analysis,the major minerals like quartz,kaolinite,haematite,illite,pyrite,and calcite are present in coal and MOB.Pyrite is observed by SEM-EDS analysis as cubic-shaped particles that are smaller than a fewμm in size.The presence of sulfide minerals represents a phase of pyrite mineralization.The petrography study was used to better understand the environment that existed during the formation of the plant material,which aids us in determining the quantity of detrital mineral sediment contained in the coal.According to the ICP-MS analysis,the samples indicate significant levels of rare earth elements including yttrium.The present study reveals higher concentrations of poten-tial hazardous elements in the coal samples,with V,Cr,Ni,Cu,and Zn content in coal being considerably enriched compared to world-average concentrations.The correlation analysis reveals that the potential hazardous elements like Co,Ni,As,and Cu are associated with pyrite as they have strong affinity towards pyrite.Thus,numerous minerals and rare earth elements(REEs)exist,opening up a fresh avenue for more research in the area.This study also assists researchers in understanding the significance of Makum coal and provides numerous ideas for coal characterization.

Anesthesia protocol for ear surgery in Wistar rats(animal research)

Objective:To formulate an anesthesia protocol for safe and satisfactory anesthesia for ear surgery in rats.Methods:The rats were anesthetized with xylazine(10 mg/kg body weight)and keta-mine at doses of 80,50,40,and 30 mg/kg body weight or with isoflurane anesthesia(2%-3.5%in 100%oxygen;maintenance dose 1.5%-3.5%).The anesthesia induction,surgery,and recovery time were recorded.Results:In total,17 rats were induced by varying doses of ketamine-xylazine and 28 rats with isoflurane.Mean induction time with ketamine-xylazine was 6±2.9 min compared with 3.8±1.1 min with isoflurane.Mean recovery time with ketamine-xylazine was 142.6±49.3 min compared with 4.1±1.2 min with isoflurane.A mortal-ity of 4 animals after developing dyspnea was recorded with ketamine-xylazine.Conclusion:Isoflurane anesthesia offers appropriate induction and recovery times and low mortality rates for the surgeries performed.Isoflurane anesthesia offers reli-able results for ear surgery in rats.However,more equipment and technical skills are needed.

This paper investigates automatic generation control(AGC)of a realistic hybrid four-control area system with a dis-tinct arrangement of thermal units,gas units and additional power generation.A proportional-integral-double deriva-tive cascaded with proportional-integral(PIDD-PI)controller is employed as secondary controller in each control area for robust restructured AGC considering bilateral transactions and contract violations.The Harris Hawks algorithm is used to determine the optimal controller gains and system parameters under several scenarios.Electric vehicle(EV)aggregators are employed in each area to participate fully along with thermal and gas units to compensate for the unscheduled system demand in the local area.A comparison of non-cascaded controllers such as PI-PD,PD-PID and the proposed PIDD-PI proves the superiority of the last.The effect of the decline in inertia is closely examined because of the sudden outage of a generating unit while at the same time considering the change in area frequency response characteristics and area control error.EV fleets make significant contributions to improving the system dynamics dur-ing system inertia loss.The use of EVs in the presence of a wind energy-supported grid can provide a stable efficacy to the power grid.Numerous simulations with higher load demands,stochastic communication delays in presence of the WTG plant,and violations in system loadings and changes in gas turbine time constants in the absence of WTG demonstrate the robustness of the proposed control approach.

Mid-term outcome of arthroscopic TightRope fixation of displaced lateral end clavicular fractures:Average follow-up of 6.1 years

Purpose:Various surgical modalities are available to treat Neer types 2 and 5 unstable fractures of lateral end clavicle but none of them are standardized.Arthroscopic fixation of the displaced lateral end clavicle fractures provides good short-term results but mid- to long-term outcomes are not available.The purpose of this study was to show the mid- to long-term radiological and functional outcomes of these fractures treated arthroscopically by a TightRope device,and to show the complications associated with this procedure.Methods:A retrospective study was conducted over 2 years from January 2014 to December 2015 with a minimum 5-year follow-up.Active patients aged 18–50 years with acute (less than 3 weeks) displaced fracture of lateral end of the clavicle,with a minimum 5-year follow-up were included in the study.Patients with associated fractures of the proximal humerus,glenoid,scapula and acromioclavicular joint injuries were excluded from the study along with open fractures and neurovascular injuries.The outcomes were assessed by objective (complications and radiographic examination) and subjective criteria (quick disabilities of the arm,shoulder and hand score,the Constant-Murley score and the visual pain analogue scale).The data were analyzed by SPSS version 21.0.Results:Totally,42 patients were operated during the study period and 37 were available with a minimum 5-year follow-up.Thirty were male and 7 were female with a mean age of 29.5 years and a mean follow-up of 6.1 years.The mean quick disabilities of the arm,shoulder and hand score was 68.2 ± 4.6 preoperatively and 1.27 ± 2.32 at final follow-up (p < 0.001);the mean visual pain analogue scale score was 6.85 ± 2.2 preoperatively and 0.86 ± 1.60 at final follow-up (p < 0.001).The average Constant-Murley score was 93.38 ± 3.25 at the end of the follow-up.There were 2 fixation failures,with established non-union and 3 patients developed radiographic acromioclavicular joint arthritis.Conclusions:Arthroscopic TightRope fixation of displaced lateral end

Analyzing Dominant 13.5 and 27 day Periods of Solar Terrestrial Interaction:A New Insight into Solar Cycle Activities

Our analysis presents an explanation of the Sun–Earth coupling mechanism during declining phase of a solar cycle,and how the dominant 13.5 and 27 day periods play roles in the coupling mechanism which led to intense terrestrial magnetic storms during this declining phase compared to the rising phase of a solar cycle.Moreover,it is observed that while the 27 day period gets strongly modulated in the rising phase,the 13.5 day period modulation is more prominent during the declining phase.It is suggested that out of the 27 and 13.5 day periods of Sun–Earth interaction,the preferred period of modulation happens to be the one which is more dominant for the less random or quieter system participating in the coupling.It is reported for the first time that the 13.5 day period is more prominent in the Sun–Earth interaction during the declining phase of a solar cycle,as it is the most dominant period of Earth's magnetic system,which happens to be more persistent as a dynamical system and hence quieter or more receptive than the Sun.

Floristic analysis and dominance pattern of sal(Shorea robusta)forests in Ranchi,Jharkhand,eastern India

The present study describes the floristic composition and dominance pattern of sal forests in Ranchi,Jharkhand,eastern India.Vegetation was studied in 47 belt transects(509100 m)that had 137 plant species(110 identified and 27 unidentified)belonging to 51 families.The family Fabaceae with 17 species(8 spp.belonging to subfamily Faboideae,6 spp.to Caesalpinioideae and 3 spp.to Mimosoidieae)contributed the most to diversity,followed by Rubiaceae(8 spp.)and Euphorbiaceae(6 spp.).Tree density in sal was inversely related to species richness.Total tree density(C 10 cm GBH)in the studied forests was 397 individuals ha-1,with a basal cover of 262.50 m2 ha-1.Important plants of conservation concern are Pterocarpus marsupium Roxb,Andrographis paniculata(Burm.f.)Wall,Sterculiaurens Roxb.,Tinospora cordifolia(Willd.)Miers,and Asparagus densiflorus(Kunth)Jessop.Phanerophytes had the highest percentage(71%,with percentage deviation from normal life form of?25)followed by therophyte(15%,with percentage deviation?2).Observed percentage deviation from normal life form was much lower(with?2 percentage deviation)in both chamaephytes(8%)and therophytes(15%),suggesting that the studied sal forests are favorable for supporting various plants species.The forest management strategies should focus on the increasing demands for different timber and non-timber forest products to conserve the plant diversity of these natural forests.
