The.e.te.t to which a country de.e.ops is anchore. around its re.ource.;and this is e.ide.ce. in how the.re.e.ue.de.ive. from natural re.ource. (e.pe.ially the.oil and gas industrie.) has influe.ce. national de.e.opme.t strate.ie.. This notwithstanding, the.e.iste.ce.of natural re.ource. doe. not always translate.to de.e.opme.t, as the.e.ofte. time. le.d to complace.cy and mismanage.e.t;Nige.ia may have.suffe.e. from this. This pape. e.tablishe. the.impact of gas production, utilization, and flaring on the.e.timate. mone.ary value.of the.goods and se.vice. produce. in Nige.ia (GDP), using multiple.line.r re.re.sion analysis. The.re.ult shows that while.gas utilization has a positive.impact on the.nation’s GDP, gas production and flaring are.ne.ative.y associate. with GDP. The.pape. conclude. that for the.e.to positive.y stimulate.e.onomic growth, the.e.is ne.d to inve.t more.in infrastructure.in the.industry, and re.ie. the.re.ulatory frame.ork guiding ope.ations of the.oil and gas industry.
