When dielectric elastomers sandwiched between compliant electrodes and high electric voltage is applied to the dielectric elastomers. Then due to the electrostatic force between the electrodes the elastomers expands in plane and contract out of plane so that it becomes thinner. As the thickness decreases we observe the increase in the applied electric voltage with the positive feedback effect. This positive feedback leads the electrical as well as mechanical breakdown of elastomer. By applying a mechanical pre-stretch the mechanical stability of dielectric elastomers gets also increased. In this paper, a new generalized set of strain/stretch variables qrN has been introduced to get the expression for second order elastic moduli for the ideal electro elastic material deformed to orthorhombic structure. The strength of a loaded crystal determined from the new moduli has been compared with the strength of classical (Green, Stretch) moduli. It has been observed that the use of incorrect formula by ignoring shear strain leads to incorrect estimation of stability. This problem has been resolved by considering stretch variable in tensor form as generally observed in the process of electrostriction in the elastomers.

The 8 MeV electron radiation-induced changes in physical and thermal properties in P31 (Bombyx mori) silk fibers were investigated and has been correlated with the applied radiation doses. Irradiation of fiber samples were carried out in dry air at room temperature using an electron beam accelerator for varied radiation doses in the range of 0-100 kGy. Physical properties of the irradiated silk fibers were studied using XRD, FT-IR and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and compared with unirradiated fiber sample. Interesting results are discussed in this report.

Protocol Driven Approach to Optimize the Absorption of Physically Incompatible Drugs with Enteral Formulations

The purpose of this study was to determine the feasibility of a protocol-driven approach to optimize the absorption of drugs physically incompatible with enteral nutrition in critical care patients on continuous tube feeds during 6 quarterly review periods. A hospital-based interdisciplinary protocol was approved in which physically incompatible drugs could be converted from the IV （intravenous） or oral formulation to an enteral formulation and administered during a ＂no tube-feed＂ interval. Eligible patients included those receiving continuous TF （tube feed formulas） and enterally administered medications for at least 2 days while receiving a physically incompatible target drug from the protocol. The primary outcome was the percentage of physically incompatible target drugs successfully converted to the appropriate enteral formulation and administration time. The secondary outcomes were the cost savings of all enteral target drugs converted during each quarter based on a 7 day review and the total cost savings of each target drug converted during the entire study. The primary outcome of successful drug conversions to the appropriate enteral administration was 100% for 5 of the 6 quarters and 81 percent for one quarter. The secondary outcome of cost savings of all enteral drug conversions averaged $975 per quarter. Also, the cost savings of each of the enteral target drug conversions for the entire study was between $3,376 for the most costly drug and $26 for least costly drug. The study shows that an interdisciplinary protocol with ＂no tube-feed＂ intervals is a feasible and cost effective method to successfully optimize the absorption of physically incompatible drugs with enteral formulas during continuous tube feedings.

Grapevines(Vitis vinifera)are colonized by ubiquitous microorganisms known as endophytes,which may have advantageous or neutral effects without causing disease *** endophytes are uncultivable,so culture-independent approaches such as next generation sequencing(NGS)can help for a better understanding of their ecology and *** date,there are no studies which directly link NGS results with taxa derived from a culturing approach,integrating morphological and multi-gene phylogenetic analysis of *** this study,a culture-dependent and high-resolution culture-independent approach(next generation sequencing)were used to identify endophytes in grapevine *** the culture-dependent approach,a total of 94 isolates were recovered from 84 of 144 healthy grapevine stem fragments(colonization rate=58.3%).The study is unique as we used subsets of combined multi-gene regions to identify the endophytes to species *** on each multi-gene phylogenetic analysis,28 species belong to 19 genera(Acremonium,Alternaria,Arthrinium,Ascorhizoctonia,Aspergillus,Aureobasidium,Bipolaris,Botryosphaeria,Botrytis,Chaetomium,Cladosporium,Curvularia,Hypoxylon,Lasiodiplodia,Mycosphaerella,Nigrospora,Penicillium,Phoma,Scopulariopsis)were identified.A higher number of culturable fungi were obtained from 13 year-old vines,followed by eight and three yearold *** the culture-independent approach,a fungal richness of 59 operational taxonomic units(OTU)was detected,being highest in 13 year-old grapevines,followed by eight and three *** though the cultivation approach detected lower fungal richness,the results related to stem are consistent for fungal community composition and *** of the fungal taxa identified by the two approaches resulted in an overlap of 53%of the fungal *** to interspecific variability of the sequences from NGS,in many cases the OTUs(even with the highly abundant ones)were only assignable to order,family or genus

Prevalence and Factors Associated with Burnout Syndrome among Resident Doctors at Tertiary Teaching Hospitals in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

Introduction: Burnout syndrome is prevalent to a great extent among medical residents, and this can interfere with their training and patient management. However, the extent of the problem is still unknown in our setting. This study therefore aimed at determining prevalence and factors associated with burnout syndrome among resident doctors at tertiary teaching hospitals in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Method: A cross-sectional study of resident doctors was carried out in four teaching hospitals of Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences between January 2021 and March 2021. Participants were interviewed using a structured questionnaire and Maslach Burnout Inventory. Results: The study had 398 participants with a mean age of 35 ± 3.5 years. Overall burnout prevalence was 33.7%, as for the burnout dimensions, 205 (51.5%) respondents reported burnout in the dimension of emotional exhaustion (EE), 177 (44.5%) in the dimension of depersonalization (D), and 144 (36.2%) in the dimension of reduced personal accomplishment (RPA). Independent factors associated with burnout syndrome were: inadequate support from residency program supervisors (Odds Ratio (OR) 1.97, 95% CI: 1.23 - 3.14, p = 0.005), work-related family conflicts (Odds Ratio (OR) 3.2, 95% CI: 1.35 - 7.71, p = 0.008), stressful call perception (Odds Ratio (OR) 3.31, 95% CI: 1.90 - 5.76, p = 0.001) and each added year of study (Odds Ratio (OR) 3.46, 95% CI: 1.08 - 6.73, p = 0.009). Conclusion: Burnout is a problem among resident doctors in Tanzania. This could be addressed by directing preventive and intervention measures in the residency training program. Periodic assessment is also needed to mitigate factors associated with burnout among resident doctors.
