Frequency sensitivity of nanosecond pulse EMF on regrowth and hsp70 levels in transected planaria

Purpose: To study the effect of time varying/ pulsing electromagnetic fields (PEMF) on bio-logical systems by measuring regrowth and the induction of elevated levels of the stress protein hsp70 in the regenerative model Planaria Duge-sia dorotocethala. Objective: The outcomes of studies using electromagnetic fields (EMF) are dependent on pulse design, field strength (mG), frequency (Hz), duration and magnetic field/rise time (dB/ dt). Standardization of effective pulse design is necessary to avoid continuing confu-sion in the investigation of pulsing electro-magnetic field (PEMF) technology. Information from studies on hsp70 protein induction and regrowth in transected Planaria provides in-formation on EMF efficacy for potential clinical application in the treatment of ischemia reper-fusion injury and the eventual inclusion of EMF prophylaxis prior to surgery. Materials and methods: Planaria were transected equidistant between the tip of the head and the tip of the tail. Individual head and tail portions from the same worm were placed in pond water and exposed to 8, 16 or 72 Hertz PEMF for one hour daily post transection under carefully controlled exposure conditions. Regrowth of heads and tails was measured in PEMF-exposed and sham control. Protein lysates from PEMF-exposed and sham control transected heads and tails were ana-lyzed for hsp70 levels by Wes￥tern blot analy-ses. Conclusion: The degree of regrowth and hsp70 levels in transected heads and tails ex-posed to nanosecond PEMF exposures at 8, 16 or 72 Hz was frequency dependent. There are currently several views on the interaction mechanism involved in regrowth. Here we dis-cuss two: in one [7,8] we propose a direct effect on the DNA of the PEMF consensus sequence, nCTCTn, referred to as electromagnetic field response elements (EMRE) in the promoter re-gion of the stress response gene HSP70. There have been many models to identify and analyze low-frequency motions in protein and DNA molecules. It has been successfully used to simulate various low-frequency collective motions in protein and DNA molecules. Low- frequency motions in biomacromolecules origi- nate from two common and intrinsic character-istics;i.e., they contain 1) a series of weak bonds, such as hydrogen bonds, and 2) a sub-stantial mass distributed over the region of these weak bonds. Many biological functions and dynamic mechanisms, including coopera-tive effects have been reported. In this regard, some phenomenological theories were estab-lished. However, differences in experimental outcomes are expected since many factors could influence the outcome of experiments in EMF research. Any effect of EMF has to depend on the energy absorbed by a biological organ-ism and on how the energy is delivered in space and time. Frequency, intensity, exposure dura-tion, and the number of exposure episodes can affect the response, and these factors can inter- act with each other to produce different effects. In addition, in order to understand the biologi- cal consequence of EMF exposure, one must know whether the effect is cumulative, whether compensatory responses result, and when ho-meostasis will break down. Such findings will have great potential for use in translation medi-cine at the clinical level without being invasive.

Update on pharmacological treatment of acute coronary syndrome without persistent ST segment elevation myocardial infarction in the elderly

The increase in cardiovascular disease prevalence with ageing has been attributed to several age-related changes such as changes in the vascular wall elasticity, the coagulation and haemostatic system and endothelial dysfunction, among other causes. There is a 50% increased mortality risk per 10-year increase in age starting at 65 years old. Here, we aimed to discuss pharmacological treatment in acute coronary syndrome (ACS) without persistent ST segment elevation myocardial infarction in the elderly. The main aim of ACS treatment in elderly people is at preventing ischemia, myocardial damage and complications. A meta-analysis suggests that invasive revascularization therapy is probably most useful in older patients. Dual antiplatelet therapy is currently the standard of care post-ACS. Platelet P2Y12 inhibitors are among the most commonly used medications worldwide, due to their established benefits in the treatment and prevention of arterial thrombosis. The main recommendation is to tailor antithrombotic treatment, considering body weight, renal function (Class I, level C) and careful evaluation of life expectancy, comorbidities, risk/benefit profile, quality of life and frailty when invasive strategies are considered (Class IIa, level A) on top of the different recommendations given for a general non ST elevation ACS population. It is obvious that potent P2Y12 inhibitors will continue to play an important role in pharmacological treatment for elderly ACS patients in the future.

商业模式创新是通过改进现有业务流程来规划和设计新的经营方式,包括内部和与外部合作,以创建全新工作流程,从而增加利益相关者的附加值。商业模式的创新有助于企业为消费者创造价值,提升企业绩效。本研究采用定量和定性相结合的方法,以中小微企业为主要的研究对象。通过问卷调研的方式更好地了解2019年新型冠状病毒流行期间商业模式创新的情况。通过问卷调研的方式收集了印度尼西亚110家中小微企业的数据,采用SPSS软件来对问卷数据进行了信效度检验、描述性分析、多元回归分析,对假设进行检验。研究结果揭示了创新商业模式的变量陈述,即价值主张、价值链和收入逻辑。从实证分析结果来看,印尼中小微企业目前有两种类型的商业模式,即创业商业模式和转型商业模式,这表明印尼中小微企业在新冠大流行期间创造了各种策略来维持业务。研究结果表明,通过线上和线下结合的运营方式,中小微企业在维护商业模式方面没有困难。此外,中小微企业最大限度地利用应用程序、社交媒体、网站和市场,来对市场进行细分,增加客户的了解。不仅如此,印度尼西亚的男性受访者通过创造力和独特性,发挥了他们作为国家经济支持者的作用,例如:存在涉及该国传统模式或特征的产品和服务变体,这些产品和服务具有吸引力,受到了客户和市场欢迎。战略商业模式的制定,其创新和适当实施具有良好的影响,这意味着商业模式战略的制定及其在商业运营中的实施发生了变化,需要调整所拥有的各种资源。在新冠病毒大流行期间,在政府的援助下,中小微企业逐渐习惯于寻求正确的创新商业模式战略以满足客户需求,为企业提供发展机会。通过以上研究可以为印尼中小微企业发展提供一些建议,作为产品或服务类别或新商业模式战略开发的主要处理方式,这些新商业模式有望改变市场并为中小微企业形成新的价值。为了保持运营的稳定性,企业需要及时对商业模式进行创新。创新商业模式战略向企业主提出了挑战,政府要支持中小企业的发展为他们提供社会化基础设施和资本援助,提升中小微企业的竞争力,建立政府与中小微之间的密切合作。

Epidemiological and clinical features of paediatric open globe injuries in southwestern Turkey

AIM:To evaluate the epidemiologic,anatomic,and clinical features of open globe injuries in ***:The medical files of patients under the age of 16 who had been operated for an open globe injury at Akdeniz University Hospital’s Department of Ophthalmology were retrospectively ***:A total of 90 patients were evaluated in this *** these patients,26(28.9%)were female and64(71.1%)were *** mean age of the patients was7.7±4.2 *** male/female ratio was observed to increase with increasing age(P=0.006,P=7.48).Injuries were most likely to occur in spring and autumn(P=0.028).The time interval between the injury and the surgical repair was 9.36±***(44.4%)of the injuries occurred in the home,27(30%)occurred in the yard,and 21(23.3%)happened while playing in the *** most common causes of injury were sharp metal objects(P<0.001).Injury to the cornea occurred in47(52.2%)of the patients(P<0.001).The most common complication to occur was cataract *** operations were necessary for 37(41.1%)of the *** final visual acuity was correlated with both the initial visual acuity of the wounded eye prior to surgery and the length of the wound(P<0.001,r=0.502 and P<0.001,r=-0.442,respectively).CONCLUSION:Open globe injuries that are suffered in childhood generally occur either at home,in the yard,or on the street,with sharp metal objects being the most common cause of *** initial visual acuity and the length of the wound are the most important determinants of the final visual acuity.
