A tree detection method based on trunk point cloud section in dense plantation forest using drone Li DAR data

Single-tree detection is one of the main research topics in quantifying the structural properties of forests. Drone Li DAR systems and terrestrial laser scanning systems produce high-density point clouds that offer great promise for forest inventories in limited areas. However, most studies have focused on the upper canopy layer and neglected the lower forest structure. This paper describes an innovative tree detection method using drone Li DAR data from a new perspective of the under-canopy structure. This method relies on trunk point clouds, with undercanopy sections split into heights ranging from 1 to 7 m, which were processed and compared, to determine a suitable height threshold to detect trees. The method was tested in a dense cedar plantation forest in the Aichi Prefecture, Japan, which has a stem density of 1140 stems·ha^(-1) and an average tree age of 42 years. Dense point cloud data were generated from the drone Li DAR system and terrestrial laser scanning with an average point density of 5000 and 6500 points·m^(-2), respectively. Tree detection was achieved by drawing point-cloud section projections of tree trunks at different heights and calculating the center coordinates. The results show that this trunk-section-based method significantly reduces the difficulty of tree detection in dense plantation forests with high accuracy(F1-Score=0.9395). This method can be extended to different forest scenarios or conditions by changing section parameters.

We report a benchmark calculation for the Lipkin model in nuclear physics with a variational quantum eigensolver in quantum *** attention is paid to the unitary coupled cluster(UCC)ansatz and structure learning(SL)ansatz for the trial wave *** with both the UCC and SL ansatz can reproduce the ground-state energy well;however,it is found that the calculation with the SL ansatz performs better than thatwith the UCC ansatz,and the SL ansatz has even fewer quantum gates than the UCC ansatz.

Electrocatalytic conversion of carbon dioxide to high value-added chemicals is a promising method for solving the energy crisis and global *** active metal-containing conjugated polymers have been widely studied for heterogeneous carbon dioxide *** the present contribution,we designed and synthesized a stable cobalt phthalocyanine-based conjugated polymer,named CoPPc-TFPPy-CP,and also explored its electro-catalytic application in carbon dioxide reduction to liquid products in an aqueous *** the catalyst,cobalt phthalocyanine acts as building blocks connected with 1,3,6,8-tetrakis(4-formyl phenyl)pyrenes via imine-linkages,leading to mesoporous formation polymers with the pore size centered at *** the central co-balt atoms shifted to a higher oxidation state after *** these chemical and structural natures,the catalyst displayed a remarkable electrocatalytic CO_(2) reduction performance with an ethanol Faradaic efficiency of 43.25%at-1.0V vs *** at the same time,the electrochemical reduction process catalyzed by cobalt phthalocyanine produced only carbon monoxide and *** the best of our knowledge,CoPPc-TFPPy-CP is the first example among organic polymers and metal-organic frameworks that produces ethanol from CO_(2) with a remarkable selectivity.

This study analyzed the difference between using a downward breaststroke kick and a horizontal breaststroke kick in a sample of world class elite *** compared average muscle activity of the gluteus maximus,quadriceps femoris(vastus medialis and rectus femoris),hamstring/long head of the biceps femoris,gastrocnemius medialis,rectus abdominal,and erector spinae when using the downward breaststroke kick *** find that when this sample of swimmers utilized the downward breaststroke kick,max speed and velocity per stroke increased,measured by 12,788 EMG samples,where the results are highly correlated to duration of the aerodynamic buoyant force in breaststroke kick *** increases in performance observed from measuring the world class elite swimmers is highly correlated to the duration of the kick aerodynamic buoyant *** this sample of elite swimmers,the longer a swimmer demonstrates a buoyant force breaststroke kick,the lower the time in a 100 breaststroke.

Is There Any Relationship between Total Hip Arthroplasty and Urinary Incontinent?

Introduction: In my daily practice as a hip surgeon, I have observed some circumstances where urinary incontinence (UI) improves after total hip arthroplasty (THA). We investigated UI symptoms before and after THA at our facility and considered the factors that influence UI. Patients and Method: The subjects were 113 female patients who underwent primary THA in our facility. An anterior lateral approach was used in all cases. Using the International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire-Short Form (ICIQ-SF), we conducted an investigation into the presence of UI before and 2 weeks after THA. An improvement in UI was defined as a decrease of 1 point or more, a worsening is defined as an increase of 1 point or more. Results: The responses from the 113 subjects were analyzed. Of the 113 patients, prior to THA, UI was prevalent among 59 patients and was absent among 54 patients. In the group where UI was prevalent, it improved after THA in 50 patients (85%), remained unchanged in 5 (8%) and worsened in 4 (7%). In the group where UI was absent, 49 patients (91%) remained unchanged and UI appeared in 5 (9%). Compared with the non-prevalence group (62 patients), the prevalence group (50 patients) had a noticeable improvement rate of internal rotation of the surgical hip side (P Conclusion: UI greatly reduces the quality of life (QOL). In this study, there is a possibility that THA improves UI.

Impact of comorbid renal dysfunction in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma on long-term outcomes after curative resection

BACKGROUND Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is one of the most common malignancies ***,the number of patients with chronic kidney disease(CKD)is on the rise because of the increase in lifestyle-related *** To establish a tailored management strategy for HCC patients,we evaluated the impact of comorbid renal dysfunction(RD),as stratified by using the estimated glomerular filtration rate(EGFR),and assessed the oncologic validity of hepatectomy for HCC patients with *** We enrolled 800 HCC patients who underwent hepatectomy between 1997 and 2015 at our university *** categorized patients into two(RD,EGFR<60 mL/min/1.73 m^(2);non-RD,EGFR≥60 mL/min/1.73 m^(2))and three groups(severe CKD,EGFR<30 mL/min/1.73 m^(2);mild CKD,30≤EGFR<60 mL/min/1.73 m2;control,EGFR≥60 mL/min/1.73 m^(2))according to renal function as defined by the *** survival(OS)and recurrence-free survival(RFS)were compared among these groups with the log-rank test,and we also analyzed survival by using a propensity score matching(PSM)model to exclude the influence of patient *** mean postoperative observation period was 64.7±53.0 *** The RD patients were significantly older and had lower serum total bilirubin,aspartate aminotransferase,and aspartate aminotransferase levels than the non-RD patients(P<0.0001,P<0.001,P<0.05,and P<0.01,respectively).No patient received maintenance hemodialysis after *** the overall postoperative complication rates were similar between the RD and non-RD patients,the proportions of postoperative bleeding and surgical site infection were significantly higher in the RD patients(5.5%vs 1.8%;P<0.05,3.9%vs 1.8%;P<0.05,respectively),and postoperative bleeding was the highest in the severe CKD group(P<0.05).Regardless of the degree of comorbid RD,OS and RFS were comparable,even after PSM between the RD and non-RD groups to exclude the influence of patient characteristics,liver function,and other causes of dea

A Radiographic Evaluation of Short Monolithic Femoral Hip Stem (SMF) for Dysplastic Osteoarthritis: Does Stem Alignment Influence on the Stability?

Background: There have been a few reports of SMFTM stem for dysplastic hips. The aim of this study is to evaluate the influence of stem alignment in dysplastic femurs on the stability of the implants and on the bone reaction by means of consecutive radiographical analysis. Methods: The preoperative diagnosis is dysplastic osteoarthritis in all patients. Twenty-nine hips in 28 patients after MIS-THA were followed up for two or more years (3.5 years in average). The average age at the surgery was 60. Those who belonged to Crowe’s classification I were 19 and those of II were 10 hips. The shape of the femur was classified as Dorr’s Type A in 5, B in 21, and C in 3 hips. Results: The varus alignment of the stem was 21 hips and non-varus was 8 hips. Crowe’s Grade did not have influence on the stem alignment. The ratio of non-varus alignment was more with Dorr’s Type C than with others. Achieving rate of mediolateral fixation was significantly higher in the varus alignment than in non-varus. The significant subsidence occurred in 3 hips (10.3%) although all stems became stable within 6 months. No revision was necessary. Conclusion: The varus insertion of the stem seemed more secure also in dysplastic femurs, but even non-varus ones seemed acceptable as they brought about no severe problem. Comprehensively evaluating the result, careful selection of the patient is essential to take the advantage of and to overcome the disadvantage of this short stem for dysplastic hips.

The Influence of Exchange Rate on the Volume of Japanese Manufacturing Export

This paper investigates the influence of exchange rate volatility on the volume of Japanese manufacturing export. The volatility in yen is shown by conditional variance from EGARCH (Exponential Generalized Autoregressive Conditional Heteroscedasticity) model, allowing for asymmetric effects that a shock of an appreciation of the yen is different from that of a depreciation of the yen. The export action model including exchange rate volatility is constructed based on VAR (Vector Auto Regressive) model to examine the relationship between exchange rate uncertainty and the volume of export. Tests are performed for typical eight kinds of industry in Japan. Few empirical studies focus on each Japanese industry export. Results indicate significant negative effects of exchange rate volatility on most manufacturing exports. In addition, this paper analyzes the each industry feature of the influence of exchange rate on the volume of Japanese export. The authors find that equipment industries occupying 60% or more of total Japanese exports especially tend to receive negative influence of exchange.
