Oncolytic viruses(OVs)are at the forefront of biologicals for cancer *** represent a diverse landscape of naturally occurring viral strains and genetically modified viruses that,either as single agents or as part of combination therapies,are being evaluated in preclinical and clinical *** the field gains momentum,the research on OVs has been shifting efforts to expand our understanding of the complex interplay between the virus,the tumor and the immune system,with the aim of rationally designing more efficient therapeutic ***,the potential of an OV platform is no longer defined exclusively by the targeted replication and cancer cell killing capacities of the virus,but by its contribution as an immunostimulator,triggering the transformation of the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment(TME)into a place where innate and adaptive immunity players can efficiently engage and lead the development of tumor-specific long-term memory *** we review the immune mechanisms and host responses induced by ssRNA(-)(negative-sense single-stranded RNA)viruses as OV *** focus on two ssRNA(-)OV candidates:Newcastle disease virus(NDV),an avian paramyxovirus with one of the longest histories of utilization as an OV,and influenza A(IAV)virus,a well-characterized human pathogen with extraordinary immunostimulatory capacities that is steadily advancing as an OV candidate through the development of recombinant IAV attenuated platforms.

Application of Lauryl Betaine in enhanced oil recovery: A comparative study in micromodel

Micromodel flooding is a cost-effective method to investigate enhanced oil *** this study,we apply Lauryl Betaine as an amphoteric surfactant to the injected fluids into the micromodel and compare the results with conventional EOR techniques such as water flooding,solvent flooding,and microemulsion ***,we determined the optimal flow rate of injected fluid into the micromodel to represent fluid flow in the ***,we did water flooding with varying ***,we did solvent flooding with two different ratios of *** and hexane are the solvents we ***,we did surfactant flooding using Lauryl *** flooding tests are conducted using different salinity and surfactant concentration(Cs).Finally,we did microemulsion *** results show that surfactant flooding at high salinity using Lauryl Betaine leads to highest oil recovery among all tested EOR ***,the results indicate that addition of Lauryl Betaine to the injected brine leads to higher breakthrough time(BT).

Fabrication of plain carbon steel/high chromium white cast iron bimetal by a liquid–solid composite casting process

High-chromium white cast iron （HCWCI） is one of the most widely used engineering materials in the mining and cement industries. However, in some components, such as the pulverizer plates of ash mills, the poor machinability of HCWCI creates difficulties. The bimetal casting technique is a suitable method for improving the machinability of HCWCI by joining an easily machined layer of plain carbon steel （PCS） to its hard part. In this study, the possibility of PCS/HCWCI bimetal casting was investigated using sand casting. The investigation was conducted by optical and electron microscopy and non-destructive, impact toughness, and tensile tests. The hardness and chemical composition profiles on both sides of the interface were plotted in this study. The results indicated that a conventional and low-cost casting technique could be a reliable method for producing PCSYdCWCI bimetal. The interfacial microstructure comprised two distinct lay- ers： a very fine, partially spheroidized pearlite layer and a coarse full pearlite layer. Moreover, characterization of the microstructure revealed that the interface was free of defects.

Design and Development of a Wheel-less Snake Robot with Active Stiffness Control for Adaptive Pedal Wave Locomotion

This paper presents the design and manufacture process of a wheel-less,modular snake robot with series elastic actuators to reliably measure motor torque signal and investigate the effectiveness of active stiffness control for achieving adaptive snake-like locomotion.A polyurethane based elastic element to be attached between the motor and the links at each joint was designed and manufactured using water jet cutter,which makes the final design easier to develop and more cost-effective,compared to existing snake robots with torque measurement *** reliability of such torque measurement mechanism was examined using simulated dynamical model of pedal wave motion,which proves the efficacy of the design.A distributed control system was also designed,which with the help of an admittance controller,enables active control of the joint stiffness to achieve adaptive snake robot pedal wave locomotion to climb over obstacles,which unlike existing methods does not require prior information about the location of the *** effectiveness of the proposed controller in comparison to open-loop control strategy was verified by the number of *** results show the capability of the robot to successfully climb over obstacles with the height of more than 55%of the diameter of the snake robot modules.

Tight Rock Wettability and Its Relationship to Other Petrophysical Properties： A Montney Case Study

Understanding and modelling the wettability of tight rocks is essential for designing fracturing and treatment fluids. In this paper, we measure and analyze spontaneous imbibition of water and oil into five twin core plugs drilled from the cores of a well drilled in the Montney Formation, an unconventional oil and gas play in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin. We characterize the samples by measuring the mineralogy using XRD（x-ray diffraction）, total organic carbon content, porosity, and permeability. Interestingly, the equilibrated water uptake of the five samples is similar, while, their oil uptake increases by increasing the core porosity and permeability. We define two wettability indices for the oil phase based on the slope and equilibrium values of water and oil imbibition curves. Both indices increase by increasing porosity and permeability, with the slope affinity index showing a stronger correlation. This observation suggests that part of the pore network has a stronger affinity to oil than to water. We also observe that the two indices decrease by increasing neutron porosity and gamma ray parameters measured by wireline logging tools. The samples with higher gamma ray and neutron porosity are expected to have greater clay content, and thus less effective porosity and permeability.

A hybrid LQR-PID control design for seismic control of buildings equipped with ATMD

This paper presents an efficient hybrid control approach through combining the idea of proportional- integral-derivative （PID） controller and linear quadratic regulator （LQR） control algorithm. The proposed LQR-PID controller, while having the advantage of the classical PID controller, is easy to implement in seismic-excited structures. Using an optimization procedure based on a cuckoo search （CS） algorithm, the LQR-PID controller is designed for a seismic- excited structure equipped with an active tuned mass damper （ATMD）. Considering four earthquakes, the performance of the proposed LQR-PID controller is evaluated. Then, the results are compared with those given by a LQR controller. The simulation results indicate that the LQR-PID performs better than the LQR controller in reduction of seismic responses of the structure in the terms of displacement and acceleration of stories of the structure.

Histological and biochemical alterations in early-stage lobar ischemia-reperfusion in rat liver

AIM： To investigate the structural and biochemical changes in the early stage of reperfusion in the rat livers exposed to lobar ischemia-reperfusion （IR）. METHODS： The median and left lobes of the liver were subjected to 60 min ischemia followed by 5, 10, 30, 45, 60 and 120 min reperfusion. Blood samples were taken at different time intervals to test enzyme activities and biochemical alterations induced by reperfusion. At the end of each reperfusion period, the animals were killed by euthanasia and tissue samples were taken for histological examination and immunohistochemistry. RESULTS： Cell vacuolation, bleb formation and focal hepatitis were the most important changes occur during ischemia. While some changes including bleb formation were removed during reperfusion, other alterations including portal hepatitis, inflammation and the induction of apoptosis were seen during this stage. The occurrence of apoptosis, as demonstrated by apoptotic cells and bodies, was the most important histological change during reperfusion. The severity of apoptosis was dependent on the time of reperfusion, and by increasing the time of reperfusion, the numbers of apoptotic bodies was significantly enhanced. The amounts of lactate dehydrogenase, alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransfrase, creatinine and urea were significantly increased in serum obtained from animals exposed to hepatic IR. CONCLUSION： Inflammation and subsequent apoptotic cell death were the most important changes in early-stage hepatic reperfusion injury, and the number of apoptotic bodies increased with time of reperfusion.

Evaluation of the predictors and frequency of silent hypoxemia in COVID‐19 patients and the gap between pulse oximeter and arterial blood gas levels:A cross‐sectional study

Effect of 8-week and 12-week triple therapy (doxycycline, rifampicin, and gentamicin) on brucellosis: A comparative study

Objective:To compare the effect of 8-week and 12-week of triple therapy (doxycycline, rifampicin, and gentamicin) on brucellosis. Methods: This parallel clinical trial was conducted on 339 brucellosis patients who were divided into 2 groups. The first group (175 patients) received doxycycline (100 mg/12 h) for 8 weeks, rifampicin (600 mg/d) for 8 weeks, and gentamicin (5 mg/kg/d) for 7 d, while in the second group (164 patients), doxycycline and rifampicin treatment were prolonged to 12 weeks, along with gentamicin therapy for 7 d. The patients were followed-up for six months after the treatment. Baseline information, clinical manifestations of the patients were collected, and serological tests for brucellosis were performed after the treatment. Results: The mean age of the patients was (45.95 ± 18.65) years, and 56.9% of the patients were male. In total, 73.5% of the patients were residents in rural areas and the majority of them were farmers and ranchers (34.6%). The 3-month relapse rates of the two groups were 11.42% and 6.70%, respectively (P=0.132). Moreover, the 6-month relapse rate of the two groups was 6.3% and 2.4%, respectively (P=0.085). In the two groups, both treatments could reduce serological titers based on Wright and 2ME tests (P<0.05). Conclusions: The efficacy of 8-weeks and 12-weeks triple therapy (doxycycline, rifampicin, and gentamicin) is similar in terms of brucellosis relapse. The 8-week triple therapy including doxycycline, rifampicin, and gentamicin can be considered as an effective approach for the treatment of brucellosis.
