Organic solar cells(OSCs)in terms of power conversion efficiency(PCE)and operational lifetime have made remarkable progress during the last decade by improving the active layer materials and introducing new *** newly developed wide bandgap organic donor and low bandgap acceptor molecules covered the absorption from the visible to the near-infrared *** the incident high energy region(UV)is not in favor of *** absorption causes thermalization losses and photoinduced degradation,which hinders the PCE and lifetime of ***,lanthanide and non-lanthanide-based down-conversion(DC)materials have been introduced,which can effectively convert the high-energy photons(UV)to low-energy photons(visible)and resolve the spectral mismatch losses that limit the absorption of OSCs in high energy incident ***,the DC materials also protect the OSCs from UV-induced *** DC materials were also proposed to cross the Shockley-Queisser efficiency limit of the solar *** this review,the need for DC materials and their processing method for OSCs have been thoroughly ***,the main emphasis has been given to developing lanthanides and non-lanthanides-based DC materials for OSCs,their applications,and their impact on photovoltaic device performance,stability,and future perspectives.

Clinical presentation and endoscopic management of Dieulafoy's lesions in an urban community hospital

AIM:To identify rates of occurrence,common clinical and endoscopic features,and to review the outcome of endoscopic management of Dieulafoy's lesions in the upper gastrointestinal (GI) tract in an urban community hospital setting. METHODS:Endoscopic data from esophagogastroduo denoscopies (EGDs),done at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center,Brooklyn,NY between 2000 and 2006 were reviewed to identify patients with Dieulafoy's lesions. Demographic data,medical history,examination findings,lab data,endoscopic findings and details of therapy for patients treated for Dieulafoy's lesions were reviewed retrospectively. RESULTS:Dieulafoy's lesions were documented to be the cause of bleeding in approximately 1% of patients presenting with upper gastrointestinal bleeding,while they were detected in only 2 patients when the indications for EGDs were different from active GI bleeding. When we analyzed EGDs performed in patients above age 65 years presenting with gastrointestinal bleeding,prevalence of Dieulafoy's lesions approached 10 percent. The most common location of the lesion was the body of stomach (7),followed by the cardia (4) and the esophagus (2). One patient had this lesion in the fundus and one patient in the duodenal apex. All patients were initially treated endoscopically with epinephrine injection,in eight cases heater probe was applied following epinephrine and endoscopic clips were applied in two cases. All but one of the patients did well in near and intermediate term follow-up (average follow-up period of 18 mo). One patient died of multi-organ failure during the same hospital stay. Average length hospital stay was 7 ***:Community hospital gastroenterologists and endoscopists should be aware that Dieulafoy's lesions are an uncommon cause of upper GI bleeding among elderly patients. Early accurate diagnosis through emergent endoscopy and endoscopic therapy,especially in patients with multiple co-morbid conditions,can be very effective and life saving.

Borderline resectable pancreatic tumors:Is there a need for further refinement of this stage?

BACKGROUND:The ideal treatment of patients with 'borderline resectable pancreatic tumors (BRTs)' needs to be *** protocols advise neoadjuvant chemo(radio)therapy,although some patients may appear to have BRT on preoperative imaging and a complete resection may be achieved without the need for vascular *** aim of the present study was to identify specific findings on preoperative imaging that could help predict in which patients with BRT a complete resection,with or without vascular resection (VR),could be ***:Twelve patients with BRTs were *** location,maximum degree of circumferential contact (CC),length of contact of the tumor with major vessels (LC),and luminal narrowing of vessels at the point of contact with the tumor (venous deformity,VD) were graded on preoperatively acquired multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) images and then compared with the intraoperative findings and need for ***:A complete resection (R0) was achieved in 10 patients with 2 having microscopic positive margins (R1) on histopathology at the uncinate *** of the 10 patients required VR (40%).In 3 of the 4 patients whose tumors required VRs,CC was ≥grade III and VD was grade *** did not influence the need for ***:It is possible to achieve a complete resection at the first instance in patients found to have BRTs on preoperative *** MDCT-based grading systems and our proposed criteria may help identify such patients,thus avoiding any delay in curative resections in such patients.

Objective:To present a detailed pharmacognostic study of the leaf of Cayratia trifolia(***)Linn.(Vitaceae),an important plant in the Indian system of ***:The macroscopy,microscopy,physiochemical analysis,preliminary testing,fluorescence analysis of powder of the plant and other WHO recommended methods for standardization were ***:Leaves are trifoliolated with petioles(2-3 cm)*** are ovate to oblong-ovate,(2-8 cm)long,(1.5-5 cm)wide,pointed at the *** leaf surface shows the anisocytic type stomata covered with guard cells followed by epidermis *** surface contents including *** islet and vein termination were also *** section of leaf shows the epidermis layer followed by cuticle layer and vascular bandies(xylem and phloem).The mesophyll is differentiated into palisade and spongy *** covering trichomes emerge from the upper *** are uniseriate and *** of collenchyma are present below and upper layer of ***:It can be concluded that the pharmacognostic profile of the *** is helpful in developing standards for quality,purity and sample identification.

A New Form of Quantum Mechanical Wave Equation Unifying Quantum Mechanics and Electro-Magnetics

The Schr?dinger differential equation is what we usually solve for the microscopic particles in non-relativistic quantum mechanics. Niels Bohr suggested the power two of the (usually) complex answer shows the probability of the particle’s existence at a point of space. Also, the time dependence of Schrodinger wave equation is one whereas for light in electromagnetism is two. In this paper, we show a solution for both problems. We derive a Wave Equation for the energy of every system. This electromagnetic wave equation is shown to convert to those classical (i.e. the Schrodinger) and special relativistic (i.e. Klein-Gordon) quantum mechanical equations. Also, accordingly there definitely is a physical meaning to answer to this wave equation. And therefore, switching the probabilistic interpretation of quantum mechanics to a deterministic one as (Albert) Einstein demanded.

Seasonal variability of ambient NH_3, NO, NO_2 and SO_2 over Delhi

We present the diurnal and seasonal variability of ambient NH3, NO, NO2 and SO2 over Delhi, India. Ambient NH3, NO and NO2 were measured continuously during winter, summer and autumn seasons using NH3- and NOx-analyzer, which operates by chemiluminescence method with a higher estimation efficiency （〉 90%） than the chemical trap method （reproducibility 4.7%）. Prominent diurnal, day-to-day and seasonal variations of ambient mixing ratio of NH3, NO, NO2 and SO2 were observed during the study period. Seasonal variation with higher mixing ratio in winter was observed for all measured trace gases except NO. Day-night variation of all measured trace gases observed was higher in winter in comparison with summer. Late morning increase in NO2 mixing ratio might be attributed to conversion of NO to NO2 with the interaction ofO3.

A lot of energy around us gets wasted,keeping in mind,the increasing energy demand and scarcity of resources,we have devised an idea to conserve the heat energy,which gets emitted out by the *** technique works as follows:a pyrolectric transducer is attached to the compressor pump of the refrigerator,aligned in such a way that one side of it is line other contact with the compressor and other with the wall(ceiling) or the other part is at room *** temperature of the compressor is approx.50-75 celsius higher than the room *** creates a temperature difference between the two sided of the transducer which in turn modifies the orientation of the atoms,leading to the change in polarization and thus giving rise to a constant voltage across the transducer(pyroelectric).This transducer is further connected to a *** to this voltage across the transducer,the capacitor gets charged up and this can be further used as a supply to any appliance(operating at low voltage).

Gastric adenocarcinoma with features of endodermal sinus tumor

Extragonadal germ cell tumors are rare. The most common sites for EGGCTs are in midline locations such as the mediastinum, retroperitoneum and pineal gland. These tumors rarely present in the stomach. We describe here a case where a middle aged man presented with typical symptoms of gastric cancer. After extensive workup, which included blood work, CT abdomen scan, upper endoscopy, and endoscopic ultrasound, the patient was diagnosed with gastric cancer. However, due to very high blood levels of alpha-fetoprotein, the specimen was sent for special histochemical staining, which demonstrated that the tumor had features of both adenocarcinoma and endodermal sinus tumor. This is a very aggressive tumor with a very poor prognosis.

Onset temperature of intrinsic pinning in a REBCO coated conductor from critical current anisotropy

The field‐angle dependence of the critical current in a REBa_(2)Cu_(3)O_(7) coated conductor has been measured over a fine range of temperatures from 15 K to 80 *** particular sample is demonstrated to have a very low fraction of extrinsic planar defects by its near‐isotropic critical current at 77 *** a representative magnetic field of 3 T we are able to track the emergence of the ab‐plane peak usually associated with intrinsic pinning and quantify its evolution with temperature by fitting to a maximum‐entropy *** are also able to observe the evolution of dip and peak features in the angle dependence of the power‐law index n with decreasing temperature and show that a dip appearing at 65 K is supplanted by a sharper positive peak from 50 *** combination of critical current and power‐law index temperature dependences shows the onset of intrinsic pinning at 50 K.

Trend and Periodicity Analysis in Rainfall Pattern of Nira Basin, Central India

Seasonal and annual rainfall data of the stations: Akluj, Baramati, Bhor and Malsiras stations located in Nira Basin, Central India, were analyzed for studying trend and periodicity using 104 years’ rainfall data. The analysis was carried out by using Mann-Kendall (MK), Modified Mann-Kendall (MMK) and Theil and Sen’s slope estimator tests describing rising trend at all the stations. However, it is statistically significant at Akluj and Bhor stations at 10% significance level. Bhor station showed the maximum increase in percentage change i.e. 0.28% in annual rainfall. Monsoon and post-monsoon seasonal rainfall shows a rising trend while the summer and winter seasonal rainfall shows a falling trend. Wavelet analysis showed prominent annual rainfall periods ranging from 2 to 8 years at all the stations after 1960s resulting in describing more changes in the rainfall patterns after 1960s.
