Brazil was one of the countries most impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic,with a cumulative total of nearly 700,000 deaths by early *** country's federative units were unevenly affected by the pandemic and adopted mitigation measures of different scopes and *** was intense conflict between the federal government and state governments over the relevance and extent of such *** build a simple regression model with good predictive power on state COVID-19 mortality rates in *** results reveal that the federative units'urbanization rate and per capita income are important for determining their mean mortality rate and that the number of physicians per 100,000 inhabitants is important for modeling the mortality rate *** on the fitted model,we obtain approximations for the levels of administrative efficiency of local governments in dealing with the pandemic.

The scaptodrosophila genus represents a large group of drosophilids with a worldwide distribution and a predominance of species in Australia,but there is little information on the presence and impacts of Wolbachia endosymbionts in this *** we describe the first Wolbachia infection from this group,wClay isolated from scaptodrosophila claytoni(van Klinken),a species from the east coast of *** infection is polymorphic in natural populations,occurring at a frequency of around 6%–10%.wClay causes male killing,producing female-biased lines;most lines showed 100%male killing,though in 1 line it wass need to be maintained through the introduction of males unless the infection is removed by tetracycline *** is transmitted at a high fidelity(98.6%)through the maternal lineage and has been stable in 2 laboratory lines across 24 generations,suggesting it is likely to persist in *** infection has not been previously described but is closely related to the male-killing Wolbachia recently described from Drosophila pandora based on multilocus sequence typing and the wsp ***-killing Wolbachia are likely to be common in drosophilids but remain difficult to detect because the infections can often be at a low frequency.

This paper proposes a web-enabled computational environment for the spatial modelling of habitat suitability of mosquito *** a component-based architecture and implemented using an object-oriented data model,we integrate database interfaces,Web feature services(WFs)based on the open GIs consortium(OGC)protocols,and the data-mining tool WEKA,coupled through Java servlet scripts(JsP).The prototype,based exclusively on freely available libraries and software components,provides basic dynamic spatial simulation capabilities using logistic regression to end-users engaged in local and regional health administration and planning but who lack access to specific software and/or detailed knowledge of spatial modelling *** component-based approach facilitates system maintenance and future expansion of functionality,and guarantees the reusability of developed modules in new spatial modelling applications of health and environmental-related *** of the WWW-application was validated in a study of habitat suitability mapping of the Malaria vector Anopheles darlingi,in an area surrounding the Manso River hydropower plant,Central Brazil.

Organic planting bag has been developed to overcome both weaknesses of plastic polybags,contaminating the soil and damaging the plant’s root when *** improvement in this stage was achieved by inserting coconut fiber to strengthen a *** main purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of seedling and transplanting by using organic planting bags,employed,three woody plants,i.e.,Albizia(Albizia julibrissin),Cadam(Neolamarckia cadamba)and Gmelina(Gmelina arborea).Performance testing of organic plant bags was conducted on three compositions of coconut fiber and water *** stages of experiments were conducted to know bag ***,the testing of organic plant bags during the nursery was conducted for 50 d from day 0 to day ***,the testing of organic plant bags after transplanting and observed on days 60,70,and 80,after transplanted on the *** parameters in this study were plant height,a total of roots that penetrate the organic plant bags and a total of leaves and stem diameters of plant grown in the organic bag and transplanting on *** results showed that organic planting bag with the composition 155 g of coconut fiber and 505 g of water hyacinth(A3B3)has 0.020 kg/cm^(2) compressive strength and provides the best plant growth *** strength affects the number of roots which penetrate the organic ***,the growth of seed in organic bags is faster than that in *** shows a higher growth rate(0.379 cm/d)compared to Cadam and Gmelina.

PtRuIn/C electrocatalysts( 20% metal loading by weight) were prepared by sodium borohydride reduction process using H_2PtCl6·6H_2O,RuCl_3·xH_2O and InCl_3·xH_2O as metal sources,borohydride as reducing agent and Carbon Vulcan XC72 as support. The synthetized PtRuIn/C electrocatalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction( XRD),energy dispersive analysis( EDX),transmission electron microscopy( TEM),cyclic voltammetry( CV),chronoamperommetry( CA) and polarization curves in alkaline and acidic electrolytes( single cell experiments). The XRD patterns showPtpeaks are attributed to the face-centered cubic( fcc) structure,and a shift of Pt( fcc) peaks indicates that Ru or In is incorporated into Ptlattice. TEMmicrographs showmetal nanoparticles with an average nanoparticle size between 2.7 and 3.5 nm. Methanol oxidation in acidic and alkaline electrolytes was investigated at room temperature,by CV and CA. PtRu/C( 50 ∶ 50) shows the highest activity among all electrocatalysts in study considering methanol oxidation for acidic and alkaline electrolyte. Polarization curves at 80 ℃ showPtRuIn/C( 50 ∶ 25 ∶ 25)with superior performance for methanol oxidation,when compared to Pt/C,PtIn/C and PtRu/C for both electrolytes. The best performance obtained by PtRuIn/C( 50 ∶ 25 ∶ 25) in real conditions could be associated with the increased kinetics reaction and/or with the occurrence simultaneously of the bifunctional mechanism and electronic effect resulting from the presence of Ptalloy.

Antigen-specific T-cell recognition is restricted by Major Histocompatibility Complex(MHC)molecules,and differences between CD4 and CD8 immunogenicity in humans and animal species used in preclinical vaccine testing are yet to be fully *** this study,we addressed this matter by analyzing experimentally identified epitopes based on published data curated in the Immune Epitopes DataBase(IEDB)*** first analyzed sARs-CoV-2 spike(s)and nucleoprotein(N),which are two common targets of the immune response and well studied in both human and mouse *** observed a weak but statistically significant correlation between human and H-2^(b)mouse T-cell responses(CD8 s specific(r=0.206,p=1.37×10^(−13));CD4 s specific(r=0.118,p=2.63×10^(−5))and N specific(r=0.179,p=2.55×10^(−4))).Due to intrinsic differences in MHC molecules across species,we also investigated the association between the immunodominance of common Human Leukocyte Antigen(HLA)alleles for which HLA transgenic mice are available,namely,A*02:01,B*07:02,DRB1*01:01,and DRB1*04:01,and found higher significant correlations for both CD8 and CD4(maximum r=0.702,p=1.36×10^(−31)and r=0.594,p=3.04−122,respectively).Our results further indicated that some regions are commonly immunogenic between humans and mice(either H-2^(b)or HLA transgenic)but that others are human ***,we noted a significant correlation between CD8 and CD4 s-(r=0.258,p=7.33×10^(21))and N-specific(r=0.369,p=2.43×10^(14))responses,suggesting that discrete protein subregions can be simultaneously recognized by T *** findings were confirmed in other viral systems,providing general guidance for the use of murine models to test T-cell immunogenicity of viral antigens destined for human use.

The municipality of Boa Nova,in northeastern Brazil,is in an ecotone zone between the Caatinga and Atlantic Forest phytogeographic *** transition phytophysiognomy is seasonal forest and known locally as mata de cipó.In these phytophysiognomies there are lajedos,which are rock outcrops colonized by vegetation welladapted to extreme microclimatic variation and vegetation diversity is affected by the vegetation types of the surrounding *** to the singularity of these environments and the relevance of floristic studies for conservation,this work aimed to identify the species richness and compare the similarity of the flora on four rock outcrops in Boa *** flora was surveyed during exploratory walks along lajedos between 2016 and *** total,162 species were identified on the Boa Nova *** flora has a composition and structure similar to semiarid outcrops,as well as endemic species that also occur in surrounding *** the proximity,a similarity index revealed there is floristic dissimilarity between the *** new occurrences were recorded for the region,five species are threatened with extinction(Aosa gilgiana,Ficus cyclophylla,Hippeastrum stigmovittatum,Pleroma caatingae and Trixis pruskii),and 43 species are common in anthropogenic *** reinforces the importance of actions to conserve these areas.

The research proposes a surgical technique for patients with chronic pubic symphysis diastasis and bladder herniation by means of a pelvic reconstruction technique. Three patients were treated initially in other hospitals and referred to us. All presented with pubic symphysis diastasis greater than 7 cm and bladder herniation. Two patients were initially treated with external fixation, and in one patient, the symphysis diastasis had been completely neglected. All cases presented good evolution with the proposed technique, which is described in details in the paper.

This paper discusses the response of the thermal insulation Lining of rigid foam potyurethane （PU） derived from castor oil （Ricinus communis） in heat conditions, based on dynamic climate approach. Liners have been widely used, because the coverage of buildings is responsible for the greatest absorption of heat by radiation, but the use of PU foam deMved from this vegetal oil is unprecedented and has the advantage of being biodegradable and renewable. The hot wire paraLleL method provided the thermal conductivity vatue of the foam. The thermo- gravimetric analysis enabled the study of the foam decomposition and its Lifetime by kinetic evaLuation that involves the decomposition process. The PU foam thermal behavior analysis was performed by coLlecting experimental data of internal surface temperature measured by thermocouples and assessed by representative episode of the climatic fact. The results Lead to the conclusion that the PU foamderived from castor oit can be applied to thermat insulation of roof systems and is an environmentaLLy friendly materiaL.
