Mineralogy and whole-rock geochemistry of the Oligocene Barail Group of rocks of Belt of Schuppen,Northeast India:Implications for tectono-provenance and paleo-weathering

The petrographic and geochemical attributes of the Oligocene Barail Group of rocks are used to decipher the likely source area(s)or tectonic domains,as this sequence of rocks was deposited in a foreland basin governed by orogenic domain,namely the North-east Arunachal *** river system that gave rise to the Brahmaputra River(Yarlung-Tsangpo),which flowed through several tectonic domains of the Himalayan ranges,primarily from BomiChayu,Gangadese Granitoid,Higher Himalayan Leucogranites,and Namche Barwa into the proto Bengal Basin now a part of Assam Arakan Basin and Naga Schuppen Belt,was the main source of the sandstone formation of the Barail *** purpose of sandstone petrography,which combines modal analysis with XRF(Major Oxides)and HR-ICPMS(Trace&Rare Earth Elements)research,is to identify the type of source rock(s),their weathering pattern,and its paleo-environmental *** sandstones were formed from recycled orogen and include lithic and sublithic arenite variants with advanced texture and chemical *** sediments were felsic(Th/Co:1.38,Cr/Th:9.78,La/Lu:11.58,Th/Sc:0.99,Eu/Eu*:0.66,La/Sc:3.05,La/Co:4.18),with contributions from intermediate source rocks and low-rank metamorphics deposited in an active continental margin to a continental island arc *** conditions impacted the sediments of Barails,characterised by being warm and semi-humid to humid which resulted in moderate to a high degree of chemical weathering,as shown by weathering indices like CIA(79.14),PIA(85.47),CIW(86.9),WIP(32.50),ICV(0.71),and Th/U(6.03),which were further additionally supported by C-Value(1.01),PF(1.20),Sr/Cu(2.04),and Rb/Sr(0.97).

High-energy ion treatments of amorphous As40Se60 thin films for optical applications

The treatment of 100 MeV Ag swift-heavy ion(SHI) irradiation with five different fluences(3 1010, 1 1011, 3 1011, 1 1012, and3 1012ions/cm2) was used to design optical and structural properties of amorphous(a-) As40Se60 chalcogenide thin films. Swanepoel method was applied on transmission measurements to determine the changes in optical bandgap, Tauc parameter and linear optical parameters, i.e., linear optical absorption, extinction coefficient and linear refractive index. Dispersion of the material was determined by Wemple–DiDomenico *** in nonlinear optical parameters of third-order optical susceptibility and nonlinear refractive index were determined using semi-empirical relations. Changes in surface morphology of the films were investigated using SEM observation, which indicated that fluence 3 1012ions/cm2was upper threshold limit for these films for ion treatment. It is observed that optical bandgap reduces from 1.76 eV to 1.64 eV, and nonlinear refractive index increases from 1.31 10 10[esu] to 1.74 10 10[esu]. Linear refractive index initially increases from 2.80 to 3.52(for fluence3 1010ions/cm2) and then keeps decreasing. The observed changes in optical properties upon irradiation were explained in terms of structural rearrangements by Raman measurement. The study was compiled with the previous literature to propose SHI as an effective optical engineering technique to achieve desired changes according to the need of optical/photonic applications.

Linear and nonlinear optical changes in amorphous As2Se3 thin film upon UV exposure

Amorphous As2Se3chalcogenide thin film was exposed to UV light(i line and g line) using mercury lamp for 30 min. XRD,UV/VIS spectroscopy and thickness measurements were taken for unexposed and exposed thin film for structural and optical *** optical constants(linear refractive index,extinction coefficient and linear optical absorption coefficient) of the film were calculated from transmission spectra using Swanepoel *** bandgap was determined using Tauc’s relation of indirect bandgap *** of the material was described by single-oscillator Wemple-DeDiDomenico model. Nonlinear optical constants(χ~((3)) and n2) were determined from linear optical parameters using semi-empirical relations in long wavelength *** changes in linear optical parameters(increase in refractive index,and extinction coefficient;reduction in optical bandgap),nonlinear optical parameter(increase inχ~((3))) are proposed for various photonic applications.

Ge-As-Se chalcogenide thin films show a wide range of photosensitivity,which is utilized for the fabrication of micro-optical elements for integrated *** photosensitivity of GexAs40Se60-x（x=0,15）chalcogenide thin films for UV light was *** that purpose,the bulk samples of GexAs40Se60-x（x=0,15）chalcogenide glasses were prepared using conventional melt quenching technique,and thin films were prepared using thermal evaporation *** thin films were exposed to UV light for two *** natures of bulk samples and thin films were verified by XRD and chemical compositions were verified by EDX *** thicknesses of the thin films were measured using a thickness *** optical analysis of these thin films was done using transmission spectra in wavelength range of 300-900 *** bandgap was determined by first peak of transmission derivative as well as extrapolation of Tauc's plot.R2analysis was done using R software to ensure that the material is indirect bandgap *** is observed that two hours UV exposure causes photo-darkening along with photo-expansion in As40Se60thin films,while photo-bleaching and photo-densification for Ge15As40Se45thin ***,the amounts of photo-induced optical changes for Ge15As40Se45thin films are smaller than those for As40Se60thin *** changes in optical absorption,bandgap and thickness are understood based on the bonding rearrangement caused by UV exposure.

Cardiovascular disease(CVD) is an important cause of mortality and morbidity in *** statistics and morbidity surveys indicate substantial regional variations in CVD prevalence and mortality *** from the Registrar General of India reported greater ageadjusted cardiovascular mortality in southern and eastern states of the *** heart disease(CHD) mortality is greater in south India while stroke is more common in the eastern Indian *** prevalence is higher in urban Indian populations while stroke mortality is similar in urban and rural ***-control studies in India have identified that the common major risk factors account for more than 90% of incident myocardial infarctions and *** case-control INTERHEART and INTERSTROKE studies reported that hypertension,lipid abnormalities,smoking,obesity,diabetes,sedentary lifestyle,low fruit and vegetable intake,and psychosocial stress are as important in India as in other populations of the *** studies have reported that there are substantial regional variations in risk factors in *** a macro-level these regional variations in risk factors explain some of the regional differences in CVD ***,there is need to study the prevalence of multiple cardiovascular risk factors in different regions of India and to correlate them with variations in CVD mortality using a uniform *** is also a need to determine the 'causes of the causes' or fundamental determinants of these risk *** India Heart Watch study has been designed to study socioeconomic,anthropometric and biochemical risk factors in urban populations in different regions of the country in order to identify regional differences.

The Locus PgaABCD of Acinetobacter junii Putatively Responsible for Poly-β-(1,6)-N-Acetylglucosamine Biosynthesis Might Be Related to Biofilm Formation: A Computational Analysis

Poly-β-(1,6)-N-acetylglucosamine (PNAG), the chief mediator of intercellular adhesion in many bacteria, plays an important role in biofilm formation. The pgaABCD locus was recognized from the whole genome sequence of A. junii SH205. The enzyme glycosyltransferase, PgaC, catalyzes the production of PNAG with N-acetyl-D-glucosamine monomer. In this study, the possibility of PNAG biosynthesis in A. junii SH205 with its own PgaC was explored with the aid of bioinformatics. Multiple alignments of PgaC sequences of different bacteria were used to identify conserved amino acid residues that might be critical for the functioning of the protein. Three-dimensional model of A. junii SH205 PgaC was generated for spatial visualization of amino acid residues. The analyses have shown that the protein PgaC has five conserved amino acids, Asp140, Asp233, Gln269, Arg272 and Trp273, critical for the activity of enzyme. Interaction of UDP-N-acetylglucosamine within the conserved pocket of glycosyltransferase was explored from molecular docking studies.
